Sone Aluko is the kind of player that always causes us massive problems when we play against him, but will immediately become useless the moment he signs for us.

I like to think I’m calm in a crisis, however, why do  I always find getting match tickets on our website stressful- even as a season ticket holder getting tickets for a friendly?

exactly the same experience as some others; in a queue for at least 20 minutes despite the screen saying I was  a minute away only to get kicked off & had to re start.
Took a minute or 2 to realise the payment lettering was in white & not easily visible against the background.
(It brought horrible memories back of trying to get tickets for wembley!!)
but so happy to get our 2 tickets, don’t care at all about having to wear a mask, or what team either club put out or, (controversially) the score
just so happy to be going back & watching our team in our stadium very close to our usual seats

The footage is all provided to them I think. So whether it’s bbc or itv you’d always get the same shots. It’s not like there’s a separate ITV camera and a separate BBC camera.

Personally, I think the re-introduction of fans in the ground will have a massive impact. Our results nose dived the second we were no longer allowed to attend.

the most annoying thing about this is the fact that the EFL have made us lose this financial asset regardless of us wanting to play him and I think their actions on this are nothing short of disgraceful and it needs broadcasting very loudly around football circles

The weird thing is, going into last season, I thought we were a striker short of being a very good squad.  We'd kicked on under Cocu from when Rooney arrived, we'd addressed most of the major needs in the squad (with Matt Clarke back, Jozwiak and Marshall), we'd sold an asset but replaced him for a fraction of the cost (Byrne for Bogle) and so on.  Obviously things didn't pan out that way.
This season, if you look at who we've lost compared to last season, it's only really Matt Clarke (who was excellent again) and Waghorn (who was poor for most of the season).  We've lost quite a few warm bodies - Gregory scored a few, Roberts showed the odd flash, bits and bobs from Menghi etc.  But bar Clarke, is there anyone that we've lost that will *really* be missed?
Obviously we're not in a good position at all, but there's plenty of reasons to think it can be turned around.  We desperately need a striker and 2 central defenders, but beyond that, the first XI isn't too bad.  Marshall/Roos, Byrne, Shinnie, Lawrence and CKR are still decent championship players. Jozwiak has had a decent Euros and should hopefully either be more settled and kick on, or be sold for a decent amount.  We should hopefully have Bielik for more of the season than last. Lawrence missed a lot of games last season too, he was missed. Knight, Bird, Buchanan have all got another year of championship football under their belts. Sibley started to establish himself back in the team towards the end of the season. McDonald, Ebosele, Watson etc have started to get first team football.  It's reasonable to think we can get 3 or 4 loans in relatively easily. With Rooney's name and a guarantee of first team football, I suspect we'll have a fair few top-end prem youngsters here.  And given the state of the transfer market, there are going to be a lot of players around on free transfers, so we can pick up a bunch more experienced warm bodies, if we need to.
I'm not trying to gloss over the state of the squad, but it's not an unfixable problem.

I think it's you being very naive if you think our fanbase would reject a manager who has a very good track record so far in management.. almost unblemished in fact.Over someone who has an appalling record in management regardless of the way he totally undermined the previous manager.Put the records of these two men in front of our fans and take a vote and I'm pretty damn sure of the way it would turn out. And your dismissal of Wilder as a possible new manager is very strange...up until a couple of years ago he was a lower league boss who quite frankly with most fans hardly registered on the radar..You make him sound like Pep or Jose!..if he was given the job as manager of our fantastic club it would be the biggest accolade of his career.

The point of my post was to get a discussion going on what progress we had seen on the pitch since Rooney took over. In over 4 pages of posts nobody has come up with a single example. I think my question has been answered ?

Predictably this thread has now descended into the tired and hackneyed one set of factions saying ok who would do a better job than Rooney, the other side then proposing a list of candidate names which then get poo pooed one by one by the first set of factions.
The same "arguments" were used to defend Cocu I recall before his demise when he was having an equally appalling run of results.
I challenge anyone to say that Rooney has got the best out of the players at his disposal and I also challenge anyone to say which ones of the youth or breakthrough players have progressed under him.
Tough lesson I learnt in business many years ago was that if your bosses don't think you're getting the best out of the staff you have currently then you either are removed from your job or if you go cap in hand asking for extra resources then you will be told in no uncertain terms that you need to start showing that you can manage the resources you currently have before this is even countenanced which if it doesn't transpire will then lead to you being removed from your job.
Don't see why this should be any different for Rooney and quite frankly he's only survived due to Mel's protracted efforts at selling the club.

Chris wilder was a joke David.... thought that was clear with the winky face.

Evatt, Cook, Adkins, and Critchley all have more experience than our current manager with Adkins and Cook doing a good job at this level of football in the past. Cook just winning 4 of the last 16 still means he's got a better recent record than our man...  Critchley and Evatt are more of a gamble in the sense they've not managed at this level I guess?

I believe Evatt is well known for playing attractive football as his Barrow team were nicknamed 'Barrowcelona' and he set up a possession orientated approach at Bolton as opposed to the more traditional direct football at the club.

I think the big problem with sticking with Rooney because you don't fancy anyone else (even when you don't know the way they play) it's not exactly much of an endorsement of the current management structure. Rooney is currently an indefensible choice on the 'positives' of his reign, all that is left are apologists for our abject performances under his tenure and the fact he'll cost us to get rid of him.

I'm not debating that it's not been suggested by some on this forum but that's not the same as saying all the replacement suggestions are ridiculous... as that's just clearly not the case david. Using the argument that some suggestions have been pie in the sky (surprise surprise it's a football forum...) therefore Derby cannot get a replacement for a manager who has 1 win in 16 in doesn't make sense.

we've been happy to accept 3 managers in recent history with 0 managerial experience (Clement, Lampard and Rooney) so why not someone who has 2 promotions on his CV and is a well liked ex player at the club?

I don't think Mel has made good managerial decisions no and at times he's ousted managers too soon. However, there are exceptions to the rule that managers deserve a long time to turn something around. Has there ever been a manager who's garnered 7 points from 45 available and you've thought they should be given more time? I think 35 games (3/4 of a season) is a short tenure but if someone is doing a shocking job then they don't deserve to have a long one.
