Shout out to NML - looked like he'd lost a bit of timber and was still chasing after 90 minutes whereas in the majority of games he's been shot after an hour.....

Has anything been said officially by RD or Ed as to how long he’s going to away from commentary for? Has he left totally or just taking time out?
Hopes he's well.
No disrespect to Dom, but I miss himStrange isn't it - I'm quite happy listening to Dom (who has been execellent since he stepped in), but can't take more than 5 minutes of Dawes before I have to turn the radio off.....I guess it shows how we all have different expectations/requirements from a commentator....

Would it be cynical for me to suggest that it was front and centre stage because a failing PM needed to conjure up some Churchillian spirit to bolster some home support, so talking up the Ukraine angle and our refugee response was a means to an end? Now said Churchill disciple has gone, the issue has disappeared.
Not sure a mod should be introducing yet more politics to the board when it's clearly against the rules - hey ho, one rule for us etc.....

Saw some poor bugger on telly from Chesterfield slamming the council for allowing a load of new builds on a flood plain. Apparently they increased the ground level to build by 18 feet and the run off has been a major issue. Don't know how accurate he was....
They've done similar in Willington at the end of the bridge to Repton - loads of new houes all built high-enough up to avoid being flooded themselves, but effectively pushing all the excess water towards all the exisiting houses....

Venom good addition to the Marvel film series with dark undertones. 8.5/10.
Venom 2 Let there be Carnage - A big let down compared to the first. 'Humour' at times from the Venom character at times which did not really work. 5/10.
spot on - loved the first film, but really didn't enjoy the second at all...

Just catching up with the latest series of Brassic - one of the chracters having a rant about how he was going 'high tech' with his security: "It'll be as secure as Alcatraz, Fort Knox, Bold Lane Car Park.....

Without wanting to spoil it for anyone who still wants to catchup on the highlights, the MotoGP race was tremendous - 5 riders fighting for the win going into the final couple of laps - if only F1 could find a way of making the racing so unpredictable

For anyone too young to remember the man, Talksport just listed his main honours:

A wonderful player and humble man - RIP Sir Bobby....

Great finish from Rashford - but how good was Bellingham with the run….
-
Maguire, Stones, Phillips hardly played any football this season - Rashford has been a shadow of his former self - I don’t get how Southgate can pick those players and yet claim he selects players on their form…. Bellingham and Kane get us back in the game but Italy look as level above us in the first 30 minutes…..

I liked Slow Horses quite a lot. Series 2 I thought was a step up too, but as Bob has alluded to, Oldman was made for this role (or vice versa) and that's enough to keep me hooked.
Mick Herron has written a dozen or so books in the ’slow horses’ series - highly recommended. Have to say they’ve done a cracking job converting them for tv - though Oldman (as brilliant as he is) isn’t quite unpleasant enough (and doesn’t fart as much) to match the character in the books….

I saw a suggestion (that I've not seen on this thread, though I've not read it all as it seems to be another 'discussion' that has deteriorated into a name-calling pissing contest) that the Hamas attack was proposed/funded/planned by Iran - apparently Israel and Saudi have been on far better terms in the past 6 months which has been worrying the Iranian leadership (who want to maintain the Islamic good/Western (non-Islamic) bad rhetoric).
Whether there's any truth in that I have no idea, but at face value, I struggle to see how Hamas felt they had anything to gain from the attacks - the influence of another player in the Middle Eastern dispute may have been enough to push them to do something so utterly stupid....though hearing their leadership calling (when Israel announced they'd be invading Gaza) on people to stay at home (effectively telling them to remain there and become martyrs for the cause) suggests that stupidity is pretty high on their list of qualities....
