I agree on the 6 points from 9 being satisfactory. But when you are 2-1 up at home with not so much time left on the clock 9 points from 9 is definitely within your grasp. The fact that the P'boro were more dominant is irrelevant at that stage. It's all about game management, and that's were the game was lost. The comedic defending for their third goal just summed it up really.
Regarding Warne's on air profanities, I heard the original broadcast on RD, but actually didn't believe what I'd heard until Gibson apologised. Hardly shocking in todays society, but pretty sure that's a first for Derby County manager.

Maybe an upgrade on Wildsmith would help in a promotion push? His decision making isn't always great, as witnessed in the Oxford game. Also the third Peterborough goal, albeit a comedy of defensive errors, Wildsmith should be doing better than the rather lame attempted save of a soft header. If Vickers is considered worthy of a start, then it's safe to assume that Wildsmith is the best we have at the club. In which case we could most probably do better.

Really? Just another oversight by the recruitment team then? Wouldn't it be a novel idea to sign players who can actually play games??

I would have taken the 6 points from 9 in these last three games, but I suppose for the majority of supporters who only see the home games, today's performance was a disappointment.
I think Warne deliberately front-loaded those fixtures by playing his first choice eleven at Wigan, knowing a win there would be the easiest of the three. He then has a bit of a dilemma in whether he changes a winning team and stuck by it on both subsequent occasions, when maybe it was better to twist? Of course, winning breeds confidence and that must have been a factor in his decision. It paid off at Oxford, with good use of substitutions, and might have done today. But I think the tough nature of those fixtures was a factor in our below par level this afternoon.
One thing that hasn't been covered today, is that if you're going to sacrifice your third midfield player for an extra striker then that front line absolutely has to deliver the goods. Although Peterborough had plenty of the ball in that first half we had some really promising counter attacks (when the ball was played into the forwards by those "poor" midfielders Hourihane and Bird! 😉) but the forwards didn't make the right decisions on the ball and those attacks petered out (pun intended). I thought Mendez-Laing was particularly guilty of that today, he's my fave so I noticed it! Tired minds rather than tired legs after the hectic schedule? Similarly, players laying the ball off when there wasn't a perfect opportunity to shoot. Just not quite sharp enough in their collective decision making.
Despite this, I thought we more or less deserved the draw for our hard work and persistence,  but again tired minds in the defence, a sloppy moment when we switched off at a quick short corner, and two of our most reliable defenders with an almost intuitive understanding going for the same header for their winner.
Disappointed but not down-hearted; we have a run of winnable games coming up, we have the news that Cashin's contract extension has been triggered and Warne himself says he doesn't want anyone to leave.
About his swearing on Radio Derby, I think it must have been edited out of the second playing just before 6pm, as I never heard it. Of course, I might just have missed it like the ref missed all those fouls on TJJ!

The second penalty was unforgiveable for any professional footballer of any position.
He had time to assess the situation. Warne want impressed. Hauled him off a minute later (ht) and didn't off the bench v Wigan.

On what I’ve seen. We are on equal par to Portsmouth and Bolton and behind Peterborough.
Ideally someone will pick up a few more of Peterboroughs better players in Jan so they can drop back where they belong.

Now….I often think of Max as being Carrick-esque in his role at Derby, statistically you can’t see evidence of his influence on games, doesn’t score or assist enough would be the common criticism from his doubters….and yet when he’s missing from the team we don’t do as well (our good runs this season and last have coincided with his presence in the team).

If people look up what Carrick’s team mates and managers thought of him they’d find how highly rated he was (don’t agree with your comment he didn’t reach the highest level by the way, he won 5 premier leagues, one FA Cup and a Champions League at United, fairly impressive haul in my opinion and was a key part of the midfield chosen by arguably the greatest manager other than BC), he did the simple things that knitted the teams he played in together and allowed others to do their jobs, I think Bird is similar for us, doesn’t get the glory of scoring and assisting but facilitates others doing so.

If Bird is a poor as some on here are keen to point out after today I’d ask them what it is that Warne, Rosenior, Rooney, Cocu see in him? He’s clearly got something to be rated by those managers and the players he’s played with 🤷🏻‍♂️

Bird is still a good player at this level - really don’t get the hate from an (admittedly small) group of supporters for him. He very rarely makes mistakes, which is something that can’t be said for many of our players.
I think you’d be lucky to get £3m for Bird in League One with 6 months left on his contract. You wouldn’t get a better player (in the same age bracket) for that money in my view.

Not many had good games today, do you guys want to sell them all? Nyambe had his worst game in a Derby shirt - bin him too?
Bird needs an enforcer alongside him when he's not getting space like today, but he's been better in most of the games I've seen and can still be a big player for us this season.

europia got a reaction from angieram in 2024 - what will it bring us?
Promotion this season would be ideal, but more importantly I would really like to see the club developing a young team from the academy and also retain the young talent that we already have in the squad.
Having watched quite a lot of PL games recently, something that has stood out is the gulf between the teams in the PL and the Ch'ship (more so L1). The athleticism, speed and technical ability of the players is on another planet. And it's not just the top teams, this also applies to struggling teams like Burnley and Luton.
For a club like Derby to ever compete, it can only be achieved by developing young talent and improving our recruitment in general, as the club is unable to pay the crazy fees and salaries required to buy success. Our club has amazing support which is our main advantage over many clubs in the Ch'ship and PL. We also have to look at clubs like Bournemouth and Brighton to try and emulate that model for success.
Just my thoughts 🙂   COYR for 2024

Yes now that Derby are genuine promotion contenders, keeping Cashin could make the difference. Imagine a line up that included Ward and Bradley and we would need to score 3 goals min to be sure of winning.

Yes, after all, it's L1 football and more or less all the teams will have flaws technically and tactically. The trick now is to be the least inconsistent team in the top 6.
