Not his shot stopping but his shithousery.

After Peterbrough got their second one of their players took the ball off him and he went down holding his head. He was not touched on his head. He stayed down and got treatment for a fake injury.

I hate faking, but faking head contact is just trying to get a player sent off. Needs stamping out the game.

It could be argued that a good manager makes average players think and play like a top 3 team. Calling them out in the press is going to do little to motivate them.
PW could do with taking the old  advice-"If thas got nowt to say. Shut tha gob."

There were far worse players than kenny Burns around that period John McCall, George Foster, etc and not forgetting the worse player I ever saw play for Derby Mick Coop. I was just having a cheap shot at Burns because he always slags us off when he loves us really I believe he still lives in Derby

Women's football is not for everyone, which means this topic won't be for everyone either which is fine.
Would be nice to let those that wish to watch and discuss it have this space to do so, without it being dragging into any debate over where it stands v the men's game.

As I heard Romesh Ranganathan say today , hope is a p**** in disguise.  For me, a summer (?) of hope has rapidly deflated to reveal an ugly mess. In that sense, it feels very similar to the summer Cocu and Co. rolled in, because the difference between the expectation that had built and the grim reality once the season started was huge. Many differences in tbe context of course, and the scope of those expectations.
Others have given detailed observations about the concerns about the individual players, system, tactics etc, so I won't repeat.
I suppose my point is that after a humbling reset we are again in shock at how a long preparation period that promised so much has achieved seemingly very little and in fact we may be starting again with formation, tactics etc.
We are supposed to be a stable club intent on progress. Its baffling how we got here.
Compare this to, say Reading, who are a chaotic basket case and have started well and seem to be recruiting as well or better. Comparison is the thief of joy of course.
Have the club mis-managed expectations? They need to sell us the dream to some extent of course, but this seems a spectacular shambles.
Hopefully, all will become clear over time and good honest people will be open to their mistakes and rectify them.

We're not three games in though. We are nearly 12 months in to Warne and we've been getting steadily worse since last winter. We finished last season poorly and we've started this one in even worse shape. It's not an isolated three match blip.

I honestly think the players we have are enough with one or two loans to be in and around the top 6 but....
3 Centre backs... it just seems to me as if no one knows who the big man is and command the box, first goal tonight all 3 nowhere near the attackers
People talk about on here that the 3 midfielders not working but again I think it's due to formation all playing in a flat line no dynamics... who's the defensive mid, who is playing the creative passes
I think we should either go
    4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1
Keep it on the floor and pass it round a bit, we don't play more than 5 passes in a row so no wonder we aren't confident on the ball when we get it.
You can still get crosses in the box but passing it round also gives us time to breathe...
Last season it was just Bang into McGoldrick coming deep turn 1 touch, second touch and play down the flanks worked so often... I think Waggy could do that for us this season to a certain extent
so in summary for the Fleetwood game I would play this with waggy in the hole

                     Wildsmith
    Wilson Bradley Cashin Forsyth
                Bird   Hourihane
    NML        Waggy      Thompson
                 Collins/Washington

Yep I’ve lived the experience of losing a child too and that’s maybe why I cut sharp a bit of slack , for me it’s not just the direct abuse he has taken and responded to , what I felt for a long time was I hated being around people who got / get stressed , angry , up tight , ect ect ect over stuff that in my position I felt was duck all ( I know everything is relative ) and I could bubble inside and want to strangle them ,
I don’t know how recent your loss is and I know there’s bugger all anybody can say that really helps , all I can offer you is my experience and the conclusion I am at now which is , you never get over it but rather you learn to survive it and there does come a time when you can allow yourself to feel happy without feeling guilty about being happy ,

I think you've missed my point or I didn't explain it well enough.
I'm more than happy to be patient. In fact I think we should be patient and be thinking long term. I'd have stuck with Rosenior for longer than he got because I think in spite of a somewhat rocky start I could see the longer term view in what he was trying.
If someone came in and basically took a season to build a team around of academy players, giving them a season to grow and gel. So that we could propel forwards in later seasons I'd be all for that. Or if they took a few gambles on younger, rawer players in the hopes of developing them.
But all of Warne's moves both tactically and in the market feel short term. And I have nagging concerns over his management of player fitness.
I have sympathy for the argument of let's just get out of league 1 and sort things out later. But I don't see evidence of Warne doing that quickly. His signings in a fair few places don't seem good fits for how he wants to play. There is an air of struggling to either attract talent and keeping talent. And current performances are way off the mark.
Basically it feels like the worst of both worlds and a bit rudderless. He's likely not going to give short term success and he's likely  not going to sustainable long term success.
I just don't see a compelling argument that he's the right man for the job and increasingly "but 3 promotions at Rotherham" feels like the 2023 "but at Leicester".
(I'll caveat this by saying maybe we can't realistically afford to sack him, I just can't talk to that.)
At this point I'd probably be scouting for someone who's done good work at an academy somewhere maybe somebody like Jody Morris. A solid track record of taking players and developing them because that's how we go forwards materially.

1967Ram reacted to Ghost of Clough in Is Warne living on borrowed time?
Clowes hired him for 1 reason - promotion to the Championship. It's why I feel Warne has opted for a more short term view this summer. Why would he recruit players with a long term view if it reduces the chances of him staying in the job.
I made this point a while back. I cant remember if it was in relation to Clowes or Mad Mel though. Owners rarely get their first appointment right. It takes time for them to understand the ins and outs of everything required in the role at that specific club. Hopefully Clowes will get it right next time.

That’s my point, if Warne is the manager he and Clowes believe he is then he can recognise we’re poor and change his approach. Go either 4-3-3 with Washington/Waggy/NML as the front 3, or if he insists on 3 at the back go 3-5–2 with Washington and Waggy up top, Forsyth Nelson and Cashin as the back 3.
He’s paid to make those calls, he’s got to earn it now.

Got to the game hugely early as per and milled around the player entrance to people watch a bit.
Was chatting with a Burton fan who hadn't managed to secure a ticket due to a bit of a hard luck story. While we were talking the Burton manager came out and personally game him a complimentary ticket so he could see the game. A very nice touch and have now developed a soft spot for the Brewers. Must toughen up.

Collins' best performance in a Derby shirt, Bird looked a different player and important players getting on the score sheet. Can't ask for much more than that.
The biggest thing for me was that Warne was able to change the game with whatever he said at half time. We were second best but could have score 5 or 6 in the end.
Not getting carried away, Burton may well go down this season, but it's so nice to feel positive post match.

I was one on this forum against having Warne as the Manager when Rosenior got elbowed out the door. I'm not going to state we could have done better with Liam, that we will never know. My biggest moan was forum members were all bleating on about his 3 promotions with Rotherham, but failed to mention the 2 relegations. They had a team that basically were good enough to compete at the top end of League one but got found out in the Championship.
Now that Warne's been a manager for approx 6 years and seems to have one style of play (3 at the back with wingbacks), it looks like other coaches know how to beat it. When Warne first took over at Derby, with the squad he inherited he could not play 3 CB's and played more often with 4 at the back. We shot up the league, looked odds on to finish easily in the top 4 positions. Then he tinkered with the team and we finished 7th.
I for one, was gobsmacked that he was appointed with a 4 year contract, getting rid now or later this season will cost the club (financially). I will still follow and support the team and hope we do get promotion come the end of the season, but this manager needs to have a plan B when his high press energy game with 3 CB's is'nt working in certain games.
