I think he's a victim of just how good Cash and Nelson have been this year. They're probably two of the top 5 CB's in the league playing in a team who've only conceded 28 all season. He had a shocking start but he's not been anywhere near as bad as some fans seem to make out, which I think is probably more a reaction to not liking us playing a back 5.

It's been a bit of a nightmare window. I'd banked on us strengthening, Peterborough selling some of their assets (they didn't, and the one they did they loaned back) and the other top 6 scatter-gunning in some panic buys that weakened the overall team (ala Billy Davies promotion season)..
Whatever happens this season, I think we'll see Warne forced to follow the Director of Football guys transfer strategy next season, because what we have done this year flat hasn't worked. Yes, freak injuries to Embleton and Ward haven't helped, but we shouldn't be surprised that old men and kids made of glass have fallen apart when we needed them.

Rioch was phenomenal for us in his first stint. Just checked his record and he scored 34 goals in 104 games as a midfielder. Most of those goals were worldies. Top player, skillfull, hardworking and as hard as nails. He'd put a crunching tackle in then stroll away with the ball majestically.
Him and Archie in midfield with Zak and Charlie up front........can I sue DCFC for making me believe it would always be like that?

I'll forgive them if Collo pokes a 90th minute winner in at Charlton.

I feel like Sibs could do a job as a striker, but he's not big or strong enough to do it in the system we're playing. Maybe Barks?

Without selling Cashin or Bird, we have nothing in the pot for permanent signings. We know that.
We’re left with loan options only, where many of the better players available on loan will already be out at clubs.
Unless we’re able to structure a deal with a club like the CBT one where a contract is expiring, we’re left scraping the barrel.
    That’s the situation.
Gregory would not be an exciting signing, he will not sell extra tickets, nor is he Warne’s first choice in this situation, we all know that as well with the approach for Smith.
What it would be a short term loan until the end of the season giving us cover for Collins. I suspect he would be behind Washington as well if he can get himself fit.
It’s the final transfer window before restrictions are lifted and we get to see what Clowes and Warne can bring to the club.
Until then, we have to just get on with it and show a little understanding that none of this is an ideal situation for club, manager or fans.

Losing TJJ has got to be horrible for our negotiating position. Everyone knew we needed a striker, but now we're desperate. Queue every club we enquire at doing a Wednesday and asking for silly loan fees on top of wage contributions. We already had to pay the Derby tax because everyone either thinks we're loaded or about to go bust.

Ipswich played successful football, but I wouldn't call it aesthetically "good" in the way that Warne's critics think we should be playing. Nearly half of their assists came from their wingbacks (get it out wide and cross it - sound familiar?)

This is about as uninspiring as it gets, but with the massive improvement in Collo recently we're not as desperate as we were. An experienced striker to drag us over the line doesn't sound quite as miserable as it would have done in summer.

Even if that's true just play him and pay him. He's the best keeper we have and has been a solid #1 since he arrived. I doubt his wages will get bumped so massively that it'll send us in to another Mel Morris spiral.

Think this is just a testament to how good Wildsmith has been.
He is a great keeper, particularly for this level, perhaps the best signing we have made in a few years.

The top-end that get European money might just survive League One, but the bottom end would be Conference north/south at best. It's a strange league, with occasional bits of quality and lots of classic lower league kick and hope
