Just what you need on a Saturday, NML and Didzy getting balls deep after a win.

20 goal a season strikers usually need a team shaped around them to work, but I'd argue that Didzy creates as many chances for the team as he takes. Put someone with pace and finishing alongside him and we could very well have two 20+ next season. We simply have to keep him.

Fully agree. NML getting the ball deep and turning had them plopping bricks. Didzys movement almost makes up for his old man legs when he's playing up top, he breaks the line more than anyone else we have.

Thought rhe big difference last night was Mendez-Laing taking some of the strain off McGoldrick by dropping back into midfield and making himself available for the ball. A few times the only person marking him was the referee! 
He won one cracking interception there too.

I'd have been fuming if roles were reversed and that pen hadn't been given. I also thought we probably had a good shout when their defender clattered through the back of Didzy to head the ball 6 inches off the ground, which is illegal and classed as dangerous behaviour. Either an indirect free kick for that, or a pen for collapsing Didzy.
After all the rubbish refs we've had this year, it seems odd that this is the one Warne objects to. He was one of the better ones, bar a couple of contentions ones.

One of those games where we could have won 4-0 with just a bit of composure. I blame Warne a bit for wanting everything to be open and free-flowing even with a lead. If we played that smartly then we don't concede.
Positives were Hourihane had his best game for us and Barkz was closer to the player we expected him to be. Collins starting to look a bit more like a forward than an angry bollard too.

Blame the manager, tactics, the lineup, referee, time wasting, atmosphere and no chips in the East Stand, when you have 28 shots and score just 1 goal, either you have not been good enough or the keeper has had a worldy of a game.

It wasn’t though was it? It’s infuriating not to have won, because we dominated the game but it wasn’t total s***. You’re right about the lack of finishing and also the lack of guile, the players are too honest at times.

According to the bbc stats we had 63% possession, 10 corners, 27(!) shots but only 6 on target. The game I watched saw us play a direct, attacking style of football with the ball on the floor and a high intensity press. Today was the right way for us to play with one key element missing, if we can keep replicating that in the remaining matches and find our shooting boots and a bit of guile there’s still a chance of the play offs, I do share the sentiment of others that even if we do make the play offs it may be too soon for this squad. 
My only criticism of Warne today is leaving the subs late again, he has to change that! 

Ugly but effective, a term used to describe me on more than one occasion.
Positives were Roberts looking composed at the back and positive going forwards. I think left of a back 3 is his best position.
Chester getting minutes and showing he's still class, even if his legs are shot.
Collins looks much better in a 3, but still ends up on the ball out wide too often and can't cross for sausage.
Didzy makes watching Derby fun.
Negatives? My neck hurts.

It's Didzy, but I'm a bit surprised by the lack of love for NML. Not only does he (allegedly) have a massive wang, but he has been our most creative player not named Didzy by a mile. Even when he's forced to play further back, he's still been a major threat.

I think we saw it yesterday, but not for long. From roughly the 20 min mark to half time, we suffocated them by pressing well and winning the ball back high up the pitch. Bird and Smith were winning tackles and playing smart balls forwards. This resulted in Ipswich pelting the ball long and we used Cashin to switch the ball and tried to get crosses in.
But that's the problem. It worked for maybe 20 minutes out of 90, and even then we weren't exactly banging on the door. Plus, when they did break the press they scored fairly easily.

From 20 minutes in to half time, we suffocated them and created a couple of good chances. But that's it, one deflected cross and Didzy missing a sitter. The rest of the game there was a gap a mile wide between the midfield and the strikers and we were pumping the ball over the top for two men who would take a week to finish the 100m.
How many times do we have to concede on the counter before Warne acknowledges that end-to-end football doesn't work with a squad as slow as ours? I actually facepalm when I hear him say he doesn't mind being caught on the break.

Disallowing Cash's goal utterly deflated the team today. That's not the refs fault, it's down to managing the morale of the squad, but you have to wonder if we're ever going to get a decision in our favour.
The push on Knight would have been a touch soft, but it's the type of pen that's been given against us time and time again this season. How many of us instantly waited for the whistle when Chaplin went down like he's been shot? Where was the booking?
