GenBr reacted to LeedsCityRam in Rooney to Consider Quitting
Between them demanding to see the colour of the Spanish fantasist's money & this potential development, I'm suddenly starting to warm to the EFL ?
The idea that we couldn't attract another half decent manager is risible - sure, it won't be a big name but then we might actually be forced to look for someone with talent, prior experience & on an upward trajectory i.e. the best candidate for the job. Whilst things look pretty shaky at the minute, it won't always be this bad & plenty of ambitious managers outside the top 2 tiers would relish the opportunity to manage here.
From Rooney's perspective, makes sense to leave asap if relegation is a possibility (I don't actually think it will happen) but like I said the other day, the longer he stays with us the more likely it is things will start to clear up for the better. Bit of a double edged sword for those of us who think he is a big problem at the club.

You give up your defence of Rooney, even Forest Mac is better than Rooney

GenBr got a reaction from Jayram in Curtis Davies Manager - League 1 ?
Maybe one day, but I'd rather have someone who has some experience and coaching badges to lead us if we do find ourselves in League one. I know we've been a testing ground for the inexperienced in recent years, but I would rather that not continue indefinitely.

I've never lost a game of championship football. I am undefeated in my managerial career.

Most rookie managers fail. Failure next season could see us drop into League 2. IMO, it is not a time for an inexperienced manager.
That said, I think Curtis is a real credit to the club and my gut feeling is that he'll make a very good manager.
I still think a rookie is a terrible idea, but if that's where we go, Curtis would be the best option...and instantly have a huge amount of support and good will.

Qualifications?
Personally, I've led Derby to back-to-back PL titles on FM21. I'll do it for £80k so long as they put sausages beack on the club menu.

GenBr reacted to LeedsCityRam in Have we progressed at all under Rooney?
Why is that relevant?
We all know a lot of fans are incredibly fickle & tend to change their opinions after a run of 4/5 games either positive or negative. And anyone who seriously thought Benitez would look twice at us needs to adjust their perspective drastically.
The key criteria is getting the right man for the job based on prior experience & then sticking with him. Ian Evatt has a) a successful track record at two clubs & b) has demonstrated he can deliver teams that play good football. Look at the managers at successful clubs in this division - Daniel Farke, Valerian Ismael, Thomas Frank, Steve Cooper - who had heard of any of these before they started at their respective clubs?
As to your last sentence, Rooney is 11 games off a complete season with us - more time than Phil Brown got, more time than Nigel Pearson got, more time than Steve McClaren second time round got, more time than Paul Clement got. Whilst I totally accept there are some mitigating circumstances as to why Rooney has done so badly, the idea that we're not allowed to call for his removal because everything wasn't set up perfectly for him makes no sense. Phil Brown had a similarly grim time here off-field with players sold over his head, a thin squad & unlike Rooney, with a genuinely awful Board/owners - no-one bemoaned Brown's departure or thought he had more to give though. Why does Rooney get special treatment?

I thought member clubs were prohibited from suing each other, and agree to submitting to the EFL disciplinary process as final arbiter. Otherwise it’d be chaos.

If he goes there can only be one candidate. Who is available and could thrive with everyone hating us and work to develop the siege mantality we would need?
Step forward Billy Davies

This ongoing saga is going to drag on well into next year as has already been reported.
If we have the next two seasons in the Championship I will happily walk through Derby City centre wearing an expensive watch and smart clothes.

We need to look at the positives if he does go. The first weekly wage we'll save, will near pay off the EFL fine.

I despise the EFL and think they should be abolished as soon as possible, but Mel and Pearce don't get out of this scot free. The club has been very poorly run in the last few years and that is ultimately down to Mel.
