Daniel was such an infectious lad and you've clearly gleaned how much love there is out there for him amongst us lot. One of things that has struck me most we've even had supporters from other clubs who have posted here, some signing up to do so. I've never seen that before on here and I think it's a fitting testament to a lad who really was Mr Derby.

Of course it's bittersweet for you and your family, but I think you've shown a deal of the same qualities as B4 and have been very brave and dignified, even if there were times when inwardly you felt anything but. FWIW, I think we are all delighted to have made your acquaintance too (it's definitely helped us having you on here too) and you can rest assured that there will always be support when you need it from our occasionally dysfunctional, but usually compassionate members. We're here for you in B4's stead and we'll always do our best to share some B4isms and funnies to cheer you up should you feel down. There's a big back catalogue and trust me when I say that we've barely scratched the surface!

With love and respects to the you and your family,

Was thinking about him while reading the thread where people were coming up with songs for John-Jules.

B4 sometimes liked to come up with potential chants for players. He was a man of many strengths, but it's fair to say songwriting wasn't one of them!

I would agree that at the heart of it, this is not about Musk personally, just the way he's destroyed Twitter to the point it's barely usable.

It's just the surrounding stories become entertaining through frustration of his decisions.

I hold on to the hope he wakes up one morning and sells it on whilst their is a few valuable crumbs left to sell.

There definitely is a personal element to it now though imo. The more he hobnobs with and praises questionable figures on the right, the more he invites pelters from the left. And I think a lot of it is justified.

Bielik has played in most of Brum’s league games so far this season.  His stats are not looking good….

    goals - zero*

    Assists - zero

    * Unless you count own goals.

I’m genuinely puzzled - injuries aside, most of us (I think) thought he’d do okay in a mid-table Championship side.

I've got no idea about his performances this season, but I do know goals and assists are pretty much irrelevant stats to measure a deep-lying midfielder's performances by.

Pearson took Leicester to two promotions, kept them up when it looked impossible and signed at least 5 or 6 players who won the premier league for some magic beans. He did a great job at Watford till they sacked him with 2 games of the season left and promptly lost them both.  He's a far better manager than Wilder for me.

Not having that in the slightest. Wilder also took Sheffield United to two promotions and a 9th-place finish in the Premier League, far better than Pearson’s Leicester.

Plus Wilder had more success at other clubs (promotions with Oxford and Northampton, and I think some non-league clubs).

Cooper has done a great job at Forest but he is at his limit.

There is little evidence to suggest he can go any further. We have seen with the likes of Chris Wilder, Nigel Pearson and Paul Lambert that it can just click at one club, but they can’t replicate it elsewhere.

Palace would be absolutely mad to go for him based on his limitations.

Tony Pulis has a better record.

Don't think you can lump Wilder, and arguably even Cooper, in with Pearson and Lambert.

Wilder has done great jobs at clubs other than Sheffield United, and Cooper won silverware with England and did a reasonable job at Swansea.

Makes me so angry that our Union, uniquely it appears, will deny us having him in the national team for what seem increasingly to be irrelevant reasons.

With the near collapse of premiership rugby, the idea of restricted access to the national squad increasingly looks parochial and self-defeating.

We managed to swallow hard and appoint Eddie. surely time to review the rule about eligibility for the national team.

As someone with virtually no interest in rugby (aside from if England go far in the world cup), I'm surprised to learn about the eligbility rules for England selection. What a load of crap that seems to be!

How many kids work their socks off for a chance to be a pro footballer and get binned. Someone like Rav moses on up, is naturally gifted, doesn't have to work too hard and makes it. Then can't be arsed to put the work in to have a decent career.

He did ok for us but i believe that was down to his respect for Rooney rather than wanting to be a successful player.

To be fair, judging from comments from the likes of Gary Neville, Morrison had a very, very tough upbringing and has had to deal with difficult circumstances throughout his life.

Doesn't necessarily justify anything, but it adds context.

This will be only the second away match I have been to! Look forward to meeting everyone who will be going. I’ve met a few already. What do we reckon the score will be? Who’s taking a flange 🤣

Are you in danger of getting hooked and becoming as devoted as B4?

Facebook has been irrelevant for years. Instagram is getting worse by the day.

I don't like what Musk is doing with Twitter, but it's still a highly useable app that I spend the vast majority of my social media hours on.

Absolutely gutted to hear this news, B4 has been here from when I first joined the forum, his positivity and rally calls for matchdays will be sorely missed....as will his general comments on all things Derby County related, be it pink shirts, the efl, gibshite at boro, or advive on getting to watch the Rams despite a railstrike and its your wedding day, RIP B4, I'm gonna be positive and say we are going up this year, and it will be for you 🐏🐏🐏

Who's the efl? You must be referring to the elf!

You're right and I think it shows how hard it is to find "balance" on a global platform. I was surprised when this was posted and I'd be surprised if it's actually enacted. I think the problem came about with a huge pile-on from across the media that Musk was antisemitic, so this might have been a frustrated attempt to counteract that. But you're better off not responding. And absolutely not by censoring.

    Fair.

Was quite impressed that they’re donating money to the Red Cross in Gaza too.

Have to give credit where it’s due.

The question people should ask themselves is whether they believe they should decide for themselves what they choose to see or hear, or whether they think it's better for someone else to decide that for them? Do you want to make your own decisions, or have a "progressive" in California know what's best for you?

Musk bought Twitter because he felt it was important people were able to decide for themselves. What had happened to it, was that it had, in part, become an arm of the Democrat regime, run by the American far left. Here he is talking recently with (a very odd looking) Joe Rogan about it:

On Twitter everyone can curate their own feeds, so you don't have to see people you don't want to, but your feeds are no longer censored and controlled by others like they used to be.

Mr Musk knows what’s best for me apparently

    Yeah.  Fair do's.

But is the reason that it's never been as popular simply down to the ease of which it can be spread around the planet?
We had The Green 'un, the Sunday papers, local wireless, and eventually the odd highlights show.  Live FA Cup final was about the limit... but half the households either didn't have a telly on which to watch it, the aerial had blown down, or they didn't have a coin for the rental meter!

Is it more popular because it's better?  Or because of what the youngsters refer to as "The World Wide Web"?  🤷‍♂️

Yeah I'm sure a lot of it is down to the new media and the globalization of the game.

The standard of elite football is objectively "better" than it ever has been, and that may well be a contributing factor, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's more entertaining.

To counter this my 12 year old grandson knows pretty much all the Premier league players, who they play for and how much they cost. His mates probably do too.🙄

That's a fair point, in all honesty.

I'm sure many... if not all... of us would have been the same at that age.  I could probably still name the two teams for each FA cup final over a decade back in the day.
At least recognising and appreciating the top players throughout my teens was certainly a thing.

Maybe it's not football that's changing as much as we may think it is?  Maybe it's us fans that are changing (through age, I guess)?   🤷‍♂️

I completely understand the reasons why people are becoming disillusioned with football.

But, objectively, I'm pretty sure it's never been as popular (I don't have the stats to hand but I'm sure I saw an article on it the other day). The level of interest in the Premier League, for example, is absolutely insane. Not to mention the thousands (probably tens of thousands), of podcasts, Youtube channels, etc, that surround it. And the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of Twitter accounts engaging in a ludicrous volume of football discourse every single day.

The quality of media has also really increased IMO. I found this episode of Gary Neville's new show an incredibly compelling watch.

I think the game is naturally changing with the changing generations. It's just a shame that it's coinciding with sportswashing and the like.

Bit heavy in here, innit!  😲

Anyway... What I'd like to know... not being into this sort of thing... is when they used to tweet, re-tweet etc, what do they do now?  Do they re-x?  Re Cross?

Surely tweeting is a thing of the past now, so what's the term nowadays?  🤷‍♂️

I know it doesn't actually matter, but it actually does!  👀

    "Post" and "re-post" I believe.

The whole Twitter thing is frustrating. I think you need the odd mad b****** like him to do crazy stuff like SpaceX and Tesla. But he's spending so much time making the best social media platform much worse (in my opinion) and increasingly moving towards the right that I can't really look past it. He obviously has his supporters on Twitter/X, but I do think it's tanked his reputation significantly.

I wonder whether, deep down, he regrets ever getting involved with it.

I hope he wouldn’t mind me saying this, but he did tell me the reason when I was standing with him at (I think) Plymouth away.

He said he didn’t like pink because it’s a “girl’s colour”, but he didn’t want to say it publicly out of fear of offending @angieram!

I will always remember two things. One, just how many people came over to him to say hello and have a quick chat. I think a testament to how well liked he was, not just on the forum, but by those at the matches too. Secondly, his unwavering belief and passion. I remember him slapping the badge on his chest at half time, telling me not to give up on them because we will win, and then at full time, with immense delight, ‘I told you! I told you! They will never let you down!’

I was one of the people who said hello to him at Leeds away. It was the first time I ever went up and spoke to him in real life.

He was adamant that we would turn it around. And, for once, his (some would say blind) faith was justified.

Forever glad I went to say hello to him that night, as every subsequent interaction with him over the years was an absolute pleasure.
