A question for the more informed, was this the first time the rams fans saw a young Steve Powell in the top flight? What a servant to the club he turned out to be.

    Yes, I believe it was.
I think his first start for the Rams was at RB in the crucial last game against Liverpool at the BBG, where he was superb. I can still see in my mind him completely taking Emlyn Hughes out of the game by flicking the ball back over his own head and bringing it down as Emlyn went in the opposite direction ?

Matchday 14 – Saturday 23rd October 1971 & the visit of reigning League Champions & Double winners Arsenal to the BBG
Arsenal started the day in 5th place, a point behind the Rams so a good result was important here. Some familiar names amongst the Arsenal side – future BBC Sport front man Bob Wilson, future title winning manager George Graham & one Charlie George…

Pre-match edition of The Ram reporting that the club made a marginal profit in the previous year – greatly reduced from funding the transfer of Colin Todd in particular. Also at the top of the page, a clown at The Sun (Frank Clough – no relation) declaring after our defeat at Man Utd he would eat his match report on toast if we won the League…

    Derby’s win lifted them into 3rd place as Sheffield Utd lost yet again, this time at Man City. The gap to leaders Man Utd was still 4 points though as they won away at Newcastle;

Just watched their 2nd goal again. It’s such a crap attempt to come for the ball from Allsop. So half hearted and no conviction, like he fully expected to get to it without really trying. If he backed off to his goal line it would’ve been such an easy save cus there was zero pace on the header.  That’s the most annoying thing about last night, they didn’t have to work for either of their goals, and both were 100% avoidable ???

As others have said, don't underestimate the impact of Covid.  There is still a pandemic on - despite what BoJo may try to have us believe - and people are still dying.  Sometimes, there are more important things than physically attending football matches.  I know I am at risk of coming across as a tad over-cautious, but as I know people it has affected, it has really spooked me - and I've had my 2 jabs & booster already.
I just think that there are many others who are staying away altogether right now, to protect their and their families' health.  Were it not for this, I would expect the crowds to be at least in the 22k-25k range.

I was a popside season ticket holder and went to a few away games.
You're right. It was fun. Damn sight more fun than now - even before the events of this past weekend.
@Bob The Badger has just mentioned Sheffield United away, that's one of the best atmosphere's I can ever remember.
I wonder how much my enjoyment was because I was still relatively young and found most things exciting being so naive - or because football was just so much better before Sky money ruined it.

leroyoftherovers reacted to Ambitious in Mel put us in Administration because......
Mel made it sound like him putting us in administration was the best thing for the club. He really had the confidence to own up infront of the supporters and say that the best thing for Derby County Football Club was him putting us in administration.
No, the best thing for the football club would be him paying the debts of the football club and to find an agreement with the EFL. The best thing for him was to put us in administration, therefore taking the workload and liability away from him.
As it stands, we've incurred an additional -12 point deduction on top of anything else that we may pick up and seemingly something that could run for a few more years yet. Another story ran over night thinks we're due to receive a -21 (potentially another 3) this season. With a further 15 point deduction next year. We've also got a transfer embargo for two years.
We know that Buchanan, Bird, Sibley and Knight will be sold. I'm not too concerned about that as I think it's great they're getting out of this mess as they genuinely have a career and a lot of potential. As a Derby fan, I wouldn't want the club to be a weight around these young lad's neck and become the reason they didn't fulfill their potential.
Mel is the worst chairman this club has ever had, he's leaving the club in the worst mess its ever been in - arguably up their with one of the worst messes of any club in the history of the sport. A club without a stadium, which he owns, potentially soon without training facilities huge point deductions with severe transfer embargos that could sink the club into the League Two - similar to Bolton. I think they still own their stadium(?) although I'm not sure.
But.... he's doing it for us. What a truly wonderful guy!

This is the most important thing we can do. Create some income to limit redundancies and player sales, make us attractive to purchasers and support the team.
If you haven't got a season ticket, buy a match ticket.
If you have a got a season ticket , encourage a mate to come or if you can afford it, gift a ticket to a mate.
Encourage friends and family to come.
If you can afford it and know someone who can't afford to go, gift them a ticket for this game.
If you live too far away and can afford it, gift a mate or family member from home,
If you are thinking of coming and have kids, bring them along.
Do whatever we can to fill the ground v Reading.
We've been let down but now it's our time, our time to stand up and save our club.

Need to get further up the pitch and be able to play much more of the game in forward areas to create chances.
To get 2-0 usually implies we will have the majority of shots - we won't win many games if the chances are 20+ to 4 in favour of the opposition.
Maybe a midfield 3 of bird Knight and Morrison linking to the forwards?
