Would genuinely love to know what went through the guys head when he decided he should try and chest that in 🤣

Didn't want to put his head in where he might get hurt. And we had Cashin trying to scrum it over the line the other day 😄

I'm sure this is a controversial take, but if we see out the job and secure promotion I think we should give Warne our sincere thanks, a good bonus and a full pay out of his contract and then we should part ways.

Nothing against him personally, but I don't think the way we play football is sustainable for Derby in the long run, and I'm not sure Warne is the right man to take us any further.

I'm sure that's not the way it will go, I just have a strong feeling that next year will be rough if we stay the same course.

IF he gets us up, Warne's only goal next season is to keep us in the championship. If that takes playing turgid football, but finishing in mid table that's job done in my eyes. Last thing we need IF we go up, us to be looking relegation in the eyes like Wednesday and Plymouth.

Let’s put this fixture into some kind of perspective before the clubs pre match press conference.

Currently the worst performing club in League 1.

As for predicting the starting 11………………I’ve given up on that one! 👍😁

Another team winless in god knows how many matches, we all know the script 😅

  4. FWIW, I wasn't convinced when I was watching the latest We Are Derby episode and seeing how Liam addressed the players after the game. Yes he was nice, but it seemed like he was trying too hard to copy Rooneys style and without the same gravitas. It didn't look to me like the players were hanging off his every word and looked up to him as such.

It will certainly be a change having Warne in the dugout, can recall him not shutting up every time Rotherham came to town.

I’m not forgetting Thompson, though I do think saying he was a “baller” last season is a bit of stretch. He struggled to make much of an impact in most Championship games imo - think he was brought through a year too early probably, but we had little choice. Do think he’ll be well suited to League One though, and with some experience under his belt now, he’ll be an excellent asset this season.

However, he’s not comparable to Bielik. Thompson is an energetic, battling “terrier” type player, very much in the Graeme Shinnie mould. As a result, he’s much better played slightly further forward, as a box to box midfielder, rather than an out and out defensive midfielder. On the other hand, Bielik is the sort of player who can dictate a game from deep. With him gone, we only really have Bird left in our squad that’s capable of doing that. It’s a vital role, so we really do need to bring in some CDM cover. As I say, McDonald was much more that sort of player pre-illness at Fulham.

I've not seen/heard much of Korey Smith, but doesn't he fill the dictating play from deep role as well? From having only 5 contracted players, Iare we now going too much the other way?

One of the worst places he could have ended up, Birmingham is a really scummy club with the scummiest fans in football imo. Only away fans I’ve ever had trouble with at Pride Park, and that includes Forest and Leeds supporters. In the Championship Watford was the far better option, a club much more likely to have a good season, and he may not have had to play so many games. Ah well, good luck to him and hope he performs well, to restore his value if nothing else.

Will need replacing to give us some cover for Bird, I suspect we might sign McDonald as a cheap option to do this, allowing us to reinvest most of Bielik’s wages elsewhere.

A lot of people seem to be forgetting we have Thompson and how much of a baller he was at times playing against the best teams in the championship last season.

Thanks and good luck Ravel. Bar a strong run of form towards the end of his time here, not a particularly memorable player. All a bit “meh” which was a little bit disappointing really. He might regret leaving and not staying here to continue his improving form.

I wonder if the Jamaican coach has been in his ear like with Bielik. Although having said that as soon as Rooney went you knew he'd go as well.
