GangwayD got a reaction from LeedsCityRam in Curtis
I was right behind it. Absolute class (header and the man). As you said, one of the best headed goals I've ever seen.
The leap, the timing, the placement the power - poetry in motion.
Cheers Curtis

GangwayD reacted to Anag Ram in Lincoln v Derby match day thread.
True but I also can’t fathom our tactics at corners. How can it be a good idea to all take the same space? They stand together like cattle. They are in each other’s way. Let’s at least try one running to the near post and one at the back post.
There’s also the opportunity to play the ball to the edge of the box where at least we might get a shot in.
All looks too predictable and defendable.

GangwayD reacted to Jourdan in Korey Smith
I think some of the criticism he gets is harsh. He’s not the long term answer in midfield, but Bird and Hourihane can be equally if not sometimes more frustrating in the quality v consistency stakes.
I do think he will find it hard to get back into the team, simply because we can’t afford to have players playing their way into form or fitness at this stage of the season.
However I get the sense he’s a really good pro though and that is important. He really stepped up to the plate and was very reliable playing at right back last season.
From videos and clips on our social media channels, you also get the feeling he’s a good character and good to have in the dressing room and around the club.
If he moves on be it in January or the summer, he should go with our well wishes.

Before the mistake I thought elder was having a good game tbh. The cross was delightful for the second I just wanted to see him carry the ball a bit more but like with everything it doesn’t matter if he was good for that period the mistake will live long in the memory because of how bad it was and costly

GangwayD reacted to Gabby'sThighs in January Reinforcements
Judging by the stats above, he's very good in the air, wins the ball a lot and actually touches the ball in the opposing area.
So maybe quite similar to Collins but I assume he'd be a backup #9. Collins can't play every minute of the remaining 21 league matches, and there maybe times where he needs a partner. Smith scored 16 from 39 in League One last season, so it seems like he knows how to score at this level. 7-8 goals would be a great return, it's more than Brown is likely to get, and who knows when Washington will be match-fit.
A loan until June seems a pretty safe, if unexciting, deal!

GangwayD reacted to Anag Ram in Paul Warne, League 1 Manager of the Month
Fourth in the league and within touching distance of the leaders. Our manager has just won League One MOTM.
I guess any criticism of him and the team should be put in this perspective.
Well done to Paul, Richie and the team. That includes DC who could easily have lost faith a couple of months ago.

If we signed CBT, Smith and a Midfielder I think we’d be in a very very strong position

I'd be happy with we signed him and CBT. I would consider that a good January.

I've been on the lash all day in Belper so bear with...not a punch or a kick thrown 😉
Were there innocents hurt...yes there was, Far too many that weren't reported as it was a common occurrence, Heysel, Hillsboro, Bradford saw some horrendous deaths due to Fans, Police and old stadia...who's to blame?
Danny Dyer oh please...a manufactured programme to put him in the limelight of being a "hard case" there were a good few from the Neptune who didn't want the DLF on his programme but some of the more high profile DLF crowd won the day...it was embarrassing...imo. Books were written of embellished journeys through the lives of "football hooligans" the Brimsons from Watford were the 1st to put pen to paper, They looked the part but as they say "the pen is mightier than the sword" both a pair of fantasists.
Life is not worth losing for a game of football...it's mind boggling that this could happen, But lives are lost every weekend in towns up and down the Country...age teaches you one thing...to learn and listen to others, What happened 30-40-50 years ago through football was something we did as others did, Nothing to be proud or ashamed of it was a life that some chose to follow.
I'll end with this...I loved the 70s-80s made so many friends that you could re float the Titanic with them all, Today...I'm just an old fella that's still has his memories...and I'll share them with anyone who would like to hear them.
Enjoy your weekend of what's left...I will ☺️

Great post. I still wished they had developed the old BBG instead of moving to Pride Park. Those narrow streets around the ground were a warren and you knew every little shortcut or potential place for trouble. Thankfully I was always on the fringes, and our pre-match ritual were a few pre-match in the Grange then into the Popside or C Stand. The older lads we're as much cult hero's to me as some of the players.
Cheers

I think if you could take anyone under the age of about 35 whose only experienced football in modern all seater stadia back in time to a game at the baseball ground in the 70s, they would be awestruck. Firstly everything was sort of grey and run down, grim and very working class. The streets were narrow, the housing really grim street after street, all red brick. The closer you got to the ground the more windows were boarded to stop a brick or bottle growing though. It was the underlying feeling of menace that is hard to describe and you got to be able to spot the signs of when something would kick off. Even then there was far more trouble outside the ground than in and some matches it would flare up all the way back to the station as away supporters got separated from each other. I couldn’t count the times I’ve been close to it but only once got a bit of a kicking from West Ham on Shaftesbury street, saved by a police horse galloping up the street giving out a bit of stick to the cockneys. Even at home Derby didn’t have the numbers compared to Leeds or Man U but the warren of streets meant there would often be opportunity for the numbers to even out. My first away match at Hillsborough in 1969 saw a sizeable set to in tne kop and you got the tell tale separation in the crowd and then fists and boots flying. Although it was sort of horrible at times I’m glad I’ve got the memories as the experience of football from the terraces is gone forever.

Maybe 'quick' was an exaggeration, but half the pace of JC !?, Wow, I reckon that means I could walk faster than he runs 😛
I thought he was much more mobile. I've changed my mind then !
Cheers

Completely agree Sparkie. Warne knows him well and like Collins he puts a shift in, but he's quicker, better in the air and offers better movement which would open things up more for our wider and central midfield players.
6 Months loan, or 18 month contract at the very best, but Wednesday would have to sell him to us for peanuts if that was the case. Also depends how long Waggy is out for.
A loan the best option, so if Sheff Weds come down he could go back to their squad.
Cheers

A loan would be ok, can’t see Sheffield Wednesday agreeing to that, unless they want him next season if they get relegated
