  1. They came and parked the bus. We dominated and could easily have scored a couple. Waghorn header and numerous chances where a bit more quality and care with the final pass / cross come to mind. Yet there are boos on the final whistle and numerous calling for Warne out. 🤦

Much better performance in my opinion and 3 points off the playoffs with a game in hand.

Oh for the days when we had the points deduction and a fan base that remained positive and together throughout!

  2. I do feel sorry for LR. Comes across as an intelligent, hardworking, knowledgeable and all-round nice bloke!

However...I do look forward to not having two defensive midfielders in League one (didn't think we needed them in the Championship to be honest!) and not playing sidewards and backwards passes until the whole of the opposition is in front of us!

I believe man for man, we probably have the most talented players in the division, but our style under LR showed far too much respect to the opposition.

Hopefully PW's more direct style will bring more of what we saw in the second half of the last game!

  3. I thought he looked very nervous and unsure of himself against Bradford. Although in his defence, he would have felt a huge amount of pressure trying to perform and earn himself a contract. Too small and lightweight for me for league one but happily be proved wrong!

  4. We're certainly done for next season if this is true. No Rooney and therefore any players you thought might stick around will be off. In a week's time we'll probably have a squad if 5, no manager, -15 points incoming and more importantly no time left to get a deal done in time to sign players. Let's hope the rumour isn't true?

I actual think the injury to Kaz is helping us. We look a lot more mobile and fluid up front. We still need goals though, I cannot see where goals are coming from in this team. I’d love to be proved wrong though.

I think we've got plenty of goals in us if we play like we did yesterday, particularly in the first half.

Stretton was millimetres from scoring, should have had at least one pen and with better decisions in the final third, could have had another two or three great opportunities.

Certainly feel we're much more of a threat than last season and much better without CKR up top on his own. ....as much as I love his effort and attitude, we're having to play differently without him. I do wonder if we'd signed Baldock before the season started whether that was the initial plan anyway and CKR would have been on the bench.

I initially questioned Rooney's appointment but I think he's doing a cracking job with what's at his disposal. Can't think of a game last season I enjoyed as much as the first half yesterday

  6. It's nice to see the majority have voted no. The man has put so much into the club and I'm sure that if he could do it all again, he may well do certain things differently like most of us in life.

I don't think his motives can ever be questioned and believe he's done everything with the best of intentions.

On top of that, hasn't he been / is still battling illness??  Before any moron thinks about booing him or hurling abuse his way, maybe they should think how they'd feel if that was done to a friend or family member of theirs in the same situation??

Remember that phase we went through where, every time he caught the ball successfully, the crowd cheered and clapped sarcastically?

    Yeah, that wasn't pleasant.

I've always said that he's a solid Championship keeper that would start for a lot of teams in this league. We are where we are and he's more than capable of contributing to the team.

And that for me unfortunately sums up quite a chunk of our so called supporters with their 'i've paid my money so I can do what I like' attitude.

We all have negative views and opinions of certain players, but how can anyone with half a brain cell believe that berating players like in the example above, have anything but a negative impact on results and performances on the pitch?

Your last post in this thread said was

‘But one person I have seen is Lee Buchanan having a medical at the Shitty ground’

so did you see it or hear it? ?

?....I've definitely seen Buchanan in the training photos from today! Hopefully not going anywhere

  9. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Mel has backed every manager he's appointed and I would say up until Rooney, the vast majority of this forum backed each managerial appointment. Can't fault the guy in my opinion. I felt the same about Lionel Pickering and thought the amount of abuse directed at him was out of order too.

We're in a mess but at least we've had a go. We could have been sensible and not made the signings we have over the years, but then the fans would have moaned about that.  The blame for me lies at the door of the recruitment team and certainly not Mel Morris.

  10. I think my point is being missed. I believe the main reason we performed as we did last year was due to injuries and lack of options, particularly up front. Now our squad is even more threadbare, this season is likely to be even more of a struggle. I don't dispute that having supporters in the ground will help. My point is how quickly people turn on a player/s and / or a manager after a poor result or performance. I think we should be sensible in our expectations, and if after some poor performances we all stayed positive, we have a better chance of success in the long run.

  11. I think it's about managing expectations. With our squad last year, especially after Bielik's injury and relying on ckr up front, we deserved to finish where we did.

With more players leaving and us having to shop in the bargain basement, anyone expecting to be in anything other than a relegation battle this year needs to give their head a wobble in my opinion.

I feel it's how the fans react to poor form and defeats that could be the difference in us surviving or not.

A siege mentality will help and I struggle to understand how anyone can think slating a player before the season's even started or even once it has, can help the long term aim.

I'm not talking about on here necessarily, although there are some, but more when I read comments posted on Facebook or Derby belly laugh articles.

If people think that these players, particularly the youngsters, aren't on their phones for large chunks of the day (like most youngsters now days) and don't read what's written about them, again, I think they need to give their head a wobble.
