What a job the academy staff have done to keep us performing at such high levels, despite being torn apart over the last 3 or 4 seasons.
I know Paul Warne and his management team have done a great job, but I think its being matched by the academy management team.
Clowse must be a very happy boy.

I'd say there are 4 better keepers out there on a free.

He's not a bad keeper but we are going up a level and as he is out of contract we are in a position to get a better one. What's the issue?
If Vickers was out of contract, I'd release him and keep Wildsmith as number 2, but he isn't.

I always enjoyed Ryan Conway's stuff - it helped that he wasn't a blind faith Derby fan, so his angle was always balanced.
I know that some people took a dislike to him for some reason.
He was also very vocal about calling out racist abuse in the game. 🔗

Cashin to a Premier League Ipswich (a well run, stable club) makes far too much sense for my liking

100%. Just imagine how much Cashin must have learned from playing along side him. A true leader and role model.

If we're looking to keep the role, first person I'd be on the phone to is one Mr Curtis Davies... just been released by Cheltenham.

And I wonder if we'll look to replace his hybrid role. I'd say Fozzy would be a good fit for it, but he'll probably end up back in the first team and starting matches knowing him

Morgan Spencer was one of the triallists. They announced his name when he was substituted. Looked impressive in the 10 role first half, dropped him deeper second, not so good.
Harry Evans was excellent in goal. Early second half Everton had a spell and he made some superb saves. Kept us in it and we went on to score two quick goals on the break.
    Well worth our win.
The Central League Cup final will be at Pride Park next Tuesday.

Probably a silly question but I’m still getting back into football and learning. Are players like Adams reluctant to sign a contract (putting aside pay details etc) because they want to know if Derby will be in the championship first? If not, they are on the lookout for offers from championship clubs. I appreciate everyone is always open to better deals.

Should have called this thread something around Dajaune Brown - I thought at the time, other key U21s would be out on loan.
Dajaune played the full game yesterday as Gateshead lost 4-2 away at Ebbsfleet. A Gateshead central defender was sent off after 5 minutes, so Brown's striking partner was sacrificed meaning it was probably a tough game. No goals for our boy, but Gateshead were 1-2 up at half-time. Guessing they ran out of steam.

Not a classic performance by any stretch but we are walking wounded and the effort is there. Think the team Warne put out was about the best we could have done in the circumstances. Goal worthy of winning game, too.
Don’t think anyone particularly played poorly, could just tell how tired some were second half. Washington was shot by half time, CBT (played pretty well) was knackered, Ward tired, NML was walking wounded.

Adam Thorley is back at Derby
Derby County's academy has been strengthened with the return of the highly-rated Adam Thorley. Thorley was poached by Chelsea back in 2021 when he became their under-15s coach.
But it is understood he has now returned to Derby where he has been appointed head of technical development for under-nines to under-16s. Thorley initially started his career at Derby having joined the club in 2010, but had a short stint at Wolves where he was YDP coach for eight months.
He was Derby's under-18s coach and professional development phase coach before leaving for Premier League Chelsea. During his time at Pride Park, the club cultivated a number of players to come through the academy including the likes of Kaide Gordon (Liverpool) and Liam Delap (Manchester City).

I’m glad he mentioned CBT.  He’s looked very quick and with NML knackered near the end he could have had an impact.  I was disappointed that Elder came on instead of CBT - then Elder’s first contribution was a lovely corner for the goal;  so good job I’m not the manager!
