Ah no worries then sounds like we’ve got recruitment sorted I see no further issue with us finding a decent centre half as long as they bring their insoles ?

No, Wisdom and Davies are not contracted to the club for the 21/22 season. We are in talks with them but no doubt offered them substantially less wages.
If we are going into next season with Wisdom as a first choice CB, we're in trouble.

OK, I may be biased as someone with a vulnerable wife, but I'm OK with deferring the wholescale reopening as it's likely doing so will create a huge rise in cases.  We're all supposedly following restrictions now, and most still are (rule of 6 / 2 families etc) but I've seen loads of people mingling as if life is normal.  Cases in my area (Aylesbury Vale) continue to rise, and currently stand at around 330 live cases, up by over a 100 on last week.....and obviously that's only those tested or reported.  Cases have been rising consistently since the May lift of restrictions.  If delaying it provides opportunity for x million more to get vaccinated then this makes perfect sense.
There's still a scary amount of ignorance out there too; only this morning I saw a post from one of my Facebook "friends" arguing that the lockdown should be lifted as most people have had 2 jabs and are therefore immune and so it's OK for them to go about their business, indeed it's their right to do so, as they won't a) catch it and b) pass it on.  No, no, no.  It's thinking like this that backs up any decision to defer lifting all restrictions IMO.
At some point we're absolutely going to have to just accept and live with this virus, as we do with the flu, but we're no-where near that point yet due to the current lack of understanding and experience around all the variants and mutations.  Flu still mutates but we've had decades to understand it and tailor vaccines accordingly.  Much as we've done an amazing job developing and rolling out vaccines for COVID it is still early days.
Using a Health Foundation report as a source, in a bad flu year the UK sees between 25000 - 30000 deaths (flu and pneumonia combined) - that equates to some 250,000 life years lost (i.e. how much longer those people would have lived had they not died).
With COVID, since March 2020, in the UK alone, COVID related deaths have resulted in the loss of around 1,500,000 life years - 6 times the amount.
Only one report, I agree but it's quite a powerful message. So if BJ decides to defer for 4 weeks, I for one will comply even if, like most, I too want to get back to complete normality.

I would reply on Starmer’s achievements since leading the opposition, but I think you might (once again) have slipped into political posturing my friend and I must not go the same way. I have nothing to say, not actually unlike Starmer.

Yeah, you're probably right. I just thought it was funny that after usually blaming the evil media for Covid mistakes, it was now the Oppositions fault. Own your mistakes lads.

I must say the naming of the variants kind of passed me by a bit...but if Kent was Alpha from back in January and Delta is Indian now in June, I wonder once we get to Omega (Googled it) what will happen. Greek alphabet has got 24 letters (Google again), and our burning rate is quite high. it doesnt worry me but we might have created a bigger issue then what we were trying to solve. And i dont know what we were trying to solve either (didnt Google it)
those times when we cant travel i feel the variants provided a small dose of escapism, chinese, thai, brasilian, kent, indian, i preferred the old system.

We’re it simply about livelihoods then you have more of a point because in the main but not all cases the safety net has been decent ( let’s see going forward though),
It’s  much more than that though , personally I’m someone that gets his head down and gets through things but this last 18 months is weighing very heavy mentally and emotionally , I can tell you that since the jab I have felt physically and mentally exhausted and run down, could well be the feeling that we are never going to have a normal life again as the goalposts just keep moving ,who knows,
of course it’s very very sad when someone dies and we lose loved ones and friends ,I doubt anybody on here is callous enough to not give a shat but this virus affects a very small percentage of the population then you add the vaccine to the equation which supposedly protects a large number of that already small percentage and it’s time to start getting positive and getting life back,
we are human beings and we need to live and be happy , we are bogged down bombarded with caution caution, ,fear, fear from all angles ,
it’s time NOW to allow people to have their lives ,freedoms and choices back, sadly already for some they have been bombarded and scared so much they will never get back to normal

I must be weird but I just can’t get excited about kit. Is it vaguely black and white, is the second/away strip distinguishable and colourwise interesting/Derby related. Are the shorts main stream rather than a fashion statement and please no red. After that ... meh
sure I’d like real or local business sponsorship rather than ubiquitous betting / dodgy loan co but sometimes you just have to accept that is the world today. Consider it packaging that ends up in the bin
Black and white, play skilfully with passion

We are rolling over our French Airbnb booking for a second year.
The South African lady owner said that was fine but we pay the price difference.
The Airbnb site then informs us that the same week in 2022 is 70%, or 700 quid dearer than 2021, which itself had been hiked a bit from the original 2020 booking.
Not fine. But not sure what our next move is. I'm not being price gouged though by some egregious profiteering Saffer....
