For me it boils down to whether Bird is willing to sign a new contract with us. If he is, he’s invested in our project and likes the idea of playing nearly every match of the next season, then great. If he’d rather go to Hull for a pay rise and I imagine play less football, then fine, let’s cash in and bring in someone who wants to commit to us.
picking up a new decent midfielder to replace Bird and hopefully add more balance to our midfield doesn’t worry me as much as finding someone to inject some pace at the top end of the pitch.

I rate Max Bird but if I'm honest I don't like the balance of a Smith, Hourihane, Bird midfield. Therefore if Warne has a more suitable replacement, that may offer a better balance, in mind then it probably makes sense
 If, on the other hand this is a sale without a replacement in mind then it makes no sense.

He won’t be for the u21s. He’s extremely highly regarded and Everton can play him in their own youth team. The only time we have ever loaned players for the youth team is when their contract is soon to expire and it’s used as almost a trial, this is definitely not that.

wouldnt be surprised if we end up playing 2 up top with mcgoldrick a bit deeper as a striker
 
there is less need to pack out the midfield in league one as there is in the championship

Your quite right .  I've been saying this on here since October - earlier again today in fact.  He would really have to hand it over having got 10 million back though over 5 years and not get the full amount unless we wind up back in the big league.  

Don’t see why there isn’t a fourth option - the bidder offers to lease the ground and say buy it outright in 3-5 years time, with the value based on which league we’re in.
I get that a buyer couldn’t replace Pride Park for the cash Mels asking, but neither is the ground much use to him if the new owner gives him the Vs and goes down a more radical route. Paying somewhere between a nominal and market rent gets the deal done now (until the next sticking point comes out of the woodwork)
Needs to be some form of compromise to get a deal done and the stadium doesn’t need to be a day 1 deal blocker.

They're hardly shining examples of ale, I'd probably drink the lager too.
