  1. I don't have any issue with Bronze for the goal. Sometimes you have to be positive and step out with the ball to create space, especially when Spain's press has been so effective. Bronze is pretty high up the pitch when she loses possession, there's plenty of time for England to recover, but they don't react and reorganize quickly enough. A midfielder should've dropped into the vacated position and Russo should've been aware of the potential overlap.

We aren't spending money like with Mel at the helm. Why shouldn't a good manager be able to adapt to a squad of players? Warne almost did just that - and now he's improving that squad isn't he?

We aren't spending big money at the moment. What the would the cost be if we paid off Warne, appointed a new manager and then allowed that manager to sign the players they felt they needed?

A good manager should be able to adapt to a squad. All to often at Derby they haven't been asked to. Mel Morris' philosophy was to back his new managers and spend whatever was necessary to tailor the squad to them.

It's too soon to say whether Warne is improving the squad. That's why I'm advocating for him to be given time. I completely understand why people have reservations about Warne though, given the performances of his "improvements" thus far.

  3. 90% of the suggestions in this thread are ex Derby players/coaches. I understand why people like the idea, but we need to ditch this mindset. There's no evidence to suggest that people with previous connections to a club are any better suited to managerial/coaching roles than anyone else.

Warne must be given the season. I don't like what I'm currently seeing, but as a club we made the call to invest in him and sign the players he wanted. Constantly changing managers for years and having to sign a whole new set of players to suit them landed us in financial trouble. We should at least learn from the experience.

They've known about the cover-up until recently tho. No fecker ever gets to take the rap either. It's just another case closed as far as they're concerned. Imagine being banged-up on the evidence of witnesses with dishonesty convictions! JFC.

"On December 13, 2022, a 48-year-old man from Exeter was arrested in connection with the attack, after his DNA was found on the victim's clothing and in samples taken from underneath her fingernails shortly after the attack took place.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Greater Manchester police will continue to assist and co-operate with the CCRC’s review of this case. Following the discovery of new DNA evidence a full forensic review is now taking place and on 13 December 2022 a 48-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of a rape that took place in July 2003. He has been released under investigation.”"

I have so many questions about this case. Is it normal to be released under investigation when your DNA is found all over the crime scene? What happens to the two scrotes who misidentified Malkinson? It is extremely worrying that a jury would convict based on such flimsy evidence, regardless of what the police withheld.

Is this also a clever metaphor for the potential sale of Max Bird? The end of finesse and grace in the pursuit of high speed Warneball?

Not quite, I think a modernist version of football would need to be far more subversive. No ball, no players, concrete instead of grass, some dog dirt in the centre circle, and a 3000 word abstract to explain the profound deconstruction of the game. Warneball at least tries to paint a picture, it's just a fairly utilitarian picture.

  6. I appreciate that beauty is entirely subjective, but it's more how he highlights the deliberate exclusion of more traditional realist art from galleries and exhibitions that captures me. The comparison with music is an interesting one. I did find myself thinking about my love of punk music as he derided Franz Kline's pride in his "roughness of execution and poverty of materials". Not every music venue insists on only booking punk and avant-garde bands and artists to "educate the public" though. There is a wonderful variety of live music readily available and I just don't see the same variety of choice in art galleries and exhibitions.

The OK hand gesture used by divers internationally and is widely available as an imoji is apparently now a hate sign used by white supremacists.

The origins of this are pretty funny. It's a joke from an internet forum where the users decided to try to fool the media into falsely reporting this by spreading rumours that the three extended fingers in the "ok" gesture represent a "w" for white, whilst the circle and wrist is a "p" for power. Obviously it worked like a charm because modern media is chock full of lazy hacks who don't check sources and only care about clickbait.

I think Stephen Pearson gets into the side, skiving lily livered cheat. Mick Coop gets in both the all time worst 11 and this 11 ahead of Schnoor. I'd also promote Ravanelli from the bench to the starting 11. Very unfair on Keogh

Pearson seems to get away with everything because of the play off final goal. I've never seen a central midfielder less inclined to even attempt a tackle.

I agree about Ravanelli too. He was a lazy knob who's main contribution was to take up spaces where Malcolm Christie would've been far more dangerous.

  9. Nicky Hunt got booed off when Clough hooked him after about 20 minutes of a truly appalling display.

Stern John got dogs abuse. Much of it was due to him being ex Forest, but I recall him attempting to shoot from about 35 yards and nearly clearing the north stand. The booing that ensued is definitely the most negative reaction I've ever heard for a Derby player.

Thought it might be of minor interest to some as there was a time we seemed to be linked with him every window, and it always engendered much discussion:

Punched a 60-year-old woman in the face in front of her daughter

First of all, I can't get over the undue weight ITV place on the role the "cheesy chips" played in this incident. Second, he doesn't look the type. People with garish neck tattoos are usually good as gold. Thirdly, he's been open about his issues with mental health, so I hope any horrible bigots who were thinking about criticising him keep their opinions to themselves.

Yes but you also had a history of embellishing your attendance figures whilst also handing out free season tickets with archaic phones..

It's not even as if those figures are accurate 🙈

Ask any neutral fan who the bigger club is between Derby and Forest. There's only going to be one answer and it isn't the shower playing in Div 3.

Even your own posters on here admit we're the kings of the East Midlands.. 🍿

The ticket/phone thing is the most pathetic cope I've ever seen. Apparently it's somehow cheating to incentivise people to buy tickets with special offers. Forest could give away methadone and a pass for a go on their own sister with their tickets and they still wouldn't fill their shed if they weren't in the Premier League.

  12. Very interesting. I've always acknowledged that Brown was working under incredibly difficult circumstances at Derby, but that doesn't exonerate him for some of the bafflingly poor decisions he made whilst he was here.

It's intriguing to hear his take on Burley shutting down the academy. I have to say it seems a bit far fetched to me to jump to the conclusion that Burley neglected the academy out of spite because of some power struggle with Terry Westley. The club didn't have two pennies to rub together, so to me it's entirely more plausible that shutting the academy was a cost cutting measure. Then there's the rather large disconnect between Phil Brown crowing about how much he valued the academy, whilst ignoring 2 home grown England U21 'keepers in favour of Kevin Poole and selling Marcus Tudgay for a bag of magic beans whilst playing Dean Holdsworth up front.

I'd also be fascinated to hear which player Murdo Mackay signed during Brown's tenure that impressed him to the point of thinking there must be something dodgy going on. There's no doubt Mackay had that type of deal in him, as he signed Bisgaard, Idiakez, and Rasiak the previous season, but who is Brown talking about? Did he consider Paul Thirwell to be an unbelievable signing?

  13. https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/morgan-whittaker-plymouth-argyle-set-8604199

The Pilgrims are set to sign him for a "club record fee". I was shocked to find that's only £900,000. They aren't a diddy club by any means. I felt sure they'd have spent 1 million plus before. Surely Tealinho must've cost them at least 5 million.

I'm interested to see what he can do for them in the Championship. I felt he wasn't given nearly enough time here, but if we'd fluked promotion I'd greet the idea of Whittaker as our marquee summer signing with a degree of trepidation.
