    Ripley (Netflix)

Really good - Andrew Scott is a much, much better Tom Ripley (in my opinion) than Matt Damon.

Halfway through and really enjoying it.  Agree, Scott is extraordinarily good as Ripley, the use of the eyes, the faintest of expressions, the body language all used to exceptional effect.  Miles better than Damon's interpretation.

  2. Quite a few I would prefer to keep, but that depends on their wage demands, Sibley, Wildsmith, Barkhuizen, Ebou, Robinson, and make every effort to keep Collins and Thompson, as we will need hard workers.

On the subject of betting, call me a sentimentalist, which I am, I would never bet against Derby County, no matter the odds.

Cynical people might surmise that the US doesn't want too much disruption to Iranian oil supplies right now because Russia would fill the gap and benefit financially or prices would soar.

Thats why Israel and Iran are only tickling each other atm.

    Since we're guessing at rationale's, here's mine.

Israel had a conundrum, needed to lash out, were told not to by uncle Sam, seething Bibi claimed they'd do it anyway, then it was reported from within Israel that they wouldn't.  In the end it was a very limited drone attack on military targets in Iran, but launched from within Iran and no big announcements from Israel on the matter.

It is possible the problem was solved for Israel by CIA or MI6 for instance, using their operatives in Iran, which probably have a higher likelihood of keeping their cover than Mossad agents.  A small enough attack so as not to incite a reprisal from Iran, but striking a blow to Iran's sense of security, as if saying, look we can attack you from within your country anytime we like.

It's a convoluted intricate complicated game being played in those parts, nothing can be certain in endless battles of the sneaky.

  4. Just finished Baby Reindeer.  Parts of it had a profound impact on me, as being too close to home.  But I am glad I watched it, it is a quality production dealing truthfully with a hard to grasp reality of emotions in disarray and trauma.  I understand some things now that I didn't before, for me this was soul cleansing stuff.

  5. In particular, adverts where I am told how much the company cares about it's customers.

It would be much quicker naming adverts that don't irritate me.  Adverts are more and more creeping into everything, can't listen to music radio anymore, the commercial time equals the music time now, it is infuriating.

I have a smart phone, but don't use the smarts, I do however play one game that comes included with it, a tile type of Majong thingy I enjoy.  At level 176 I can no longer play it without agreeing to some adverts first, I almost threw the phone into the wall.  It is my phone, I own it, it is not on rent, I should have complete control over it, but no grrr.

Like the sucker that I can be, I came back and clicked on allowing the bare minimum of ads and I hate myself for that weakness.

Looks like it really was "Operation Shoot Down These Drones We Launched So We Can Save Face By Seemingly Retaliating For Damascus And We'll Call It Quits".

That fairly sums it up.  Iran does not desire a regional war, at least not at this time, or they would have attacked with much more intensity, of which they are fully capable along with their allies, Hezbollah, Iraqi militias and Houthi.  Israeli forces would run out of anti missile, drone capabilities long before Iran and their helpers would run out of drones and missiles.  In just this limited attack Israel needed help from USA, Britain, Jordan etc, they do not come out looking strong, no matter how western media will try to spin it.  Iran easily exposed Israeli weaknesses and thereby made their point, satisfying their local supporters and others.

IMO Palestinians are the excuse Iran needs to confront their main rivals, Israel and USA in a controlled manner.  Palestinians really are friendless, abused by all, mere pawns in a greater game of regional influence.
