An interesting move - he's gone to Iceland.

Nunn will be playing in the top division with HK from the town of Kópavogur situated next to Reykjavík.  HK is reported to have to fight hard to maintain their place in the division, their first game is an away match against KA from Akureyri at 1pm today.

This is how their place looks at the moment, heh.

  2. No one was nutty enough to tell me this, but when I was around five I became convinced that if a car would run over my foot, it wouldn't hurt a bit.  I decided to test my theory at a nearby busy road.  I stood on the edge of the sidewalk and when I spotted a car driving close to the road's edge I quickly stuck my foot out, but much to my irritation, the drivers always swerved away at the last second.  This time I would succeed though, for a big wide lorry truck was coming, yet just before I was able to shoot my foot out some fellow who had observed me yanked me backwards, yelling, what the hell are you doing you crazy kid.

I learned from that episode that adults can be really annoying.

Israel seem to be expecting significant reprisals following their (arguable) assassination of a senior Iranian General in the Iranian consulate in Syria, to the point that some consulates/embassies are being evacuated, IDF leave cancelled, reservists being called up, threat levels are elevated to their maximum and GPS signals are now being disrupted over major Israeli cities.

The Hosea quote "For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind" seems to sum it all up. Hold on to your hats - it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Trying to goad Iran into a serious enough attack to pull the Yanks into the conflict is the word on the street.  Cynical I thinks the Yanks and Israel are working hand in hand to that end, the headlines of USA trying to hold back Israeli ambition being only showmanship.

It was foolish of Iran to gather so many commanders in the same house, they must however see what the attack was meant to accomplish.

Hmmm   I don’t so much care if we’re first or second - the imperative is to get out of this league. I think that means we start Adams and Smith, maybe even Tommo and play it safe. There’s always a chance Cashin or Nelson will get on the end of a set piece or Ward will score from a fk ( or corner!).  Last thing we want is to concede 3 and erode our GD advantage.

Playing it safe could turn out to be the most risky in a game against a strong side like Portsmouth.  Being apprehensive of making mistakes sometimes ensures mistakes.  If we set out with the mentality of wanting to win the game, it increases the likelihood of every player being up for it and at their best.  This game is a chance to make a possible bid for first place, so that is how it should be approached IMO.  Second place is ok, first is better.

  5. IMO we have to go for it and try to win the game, getting three points closer will put pressure on Portsmouth, something they may not be comfortable with and if we keep winning most games, we'll be like terriers on their tails just waiting for a stumble.  Yep, it's a lot of if's and maybe's but could happen and the chance for it starts by winning that game.

    Wonderful.

I've got my own ecosystem going at the moment in solid form.

Last October, at the end of the chili growing season, I took 3 established first-year plants (2 x Scotch Bonnet and 1 x Armageddon) and pruned them savagely (think main stem up to where it divides into 2 branches, then each of those to where they divided, and chopped everything else out - so basically all that was left was 4 sticks attached to a main stem). I then reduced the size of the root balls and re-potted into smaller pots using fresh peat-free compost. I brought the plants indoors and stuck them in a South-facing window.

The idea was to give them a 'rest' over winter, and for them to have a head start when April arrives and I move them outside (it's only the second time I've tried over-wintering - most people think that chili plants are annuals but they're not - they are just very susceptible to frost). The plants were watered very sparingly once a fortnight, and I expected little or no growth for the next 4 months.

Things did not go to plan.

By Christmas, I had green shoots appearing, not just at the nodes of the branches, but even new shoots growing from the main stems.

By January, a few flowers were beginning to appear, so I pulled them off the plants - but obviously I missed a few.

By February, I had a few chilis beginning to show, so I stepped up the watering regime and added a capful of tomato feed to the water. Then I started to notice tiny flies taking to the air each time I watered. A quick check under the microscope and t'interwebs revealed Bradysia - sciarid flies or fungus gnats, which infest decomposing plant matter (basically potting compost).

    War was declared.

At the start of this month, I ordered a pack of sciarid fly nematodes - basically tiny worms which feed on the maggots of the sciarid flies. In the meantime, I stuck a 20 cm square of bright yellow fly paper to the window by the chili plants (fungus gnats are attracted to yellow). Within hours, there were dozens of sciarid flies stuck to the paper. By the time the nematodes had arrived a couple of days later, there were hundreds - perhaps thousands. We treated all the house plants - not just my chilis.

A week after treatment, I was on top of the problem - still seeing the odd fly but nothing like previously.

Last week, I administered a second round of treatment and changed fly paper.

Today, no more flies. I've also harvested two Scotch Bonnet chilis which are destined for my next curry.

What a great story, nice idea with the nematodes.

I learned about gnats and yellow the hard way.

Our previous residence was in a tall block of flats that was painted bright yellow the first few years.  In springtime it literally turned black with millions of tiny gnats.  The news channels and papers covered this remarkable "amusing" occurrence, but a sour faced entomologists appeared, warning of the possible devastation of the gnat population, that by unwisely choosing yellow we had meddled with natural forces beyond our comprehension, but that in layman's terms it meant the gnats not behaving as nature intended, thereby affecting birds and insects that fed on them and so on.

We were ordered by the natural science department of the state to repaint the block in a less offensive colour immediately and again we were harshly scolded, predicting we had probably already caused near irreparable natural damage.  We became the local objects of laughter, snickering and scorn, receiving sideways glances wherever we ventured and all because of yellow.

I’ve never really liked cats but my neighbours got a female kitten a few months ago and she is adorable. She has really taken to me and comes running for fuss and to play most days. Despite regular contact I’m still very allergic 🙁

Cats are mysterious creatures, they do what they want, charm who they please, but they sense things and can be very generous with their affection.  I am not surprised your neighbors kitten is winning you over in spite of your allergies.  I am a bit allergic, got red skin under my elbow after contact with kitty, but it's as if my skin is getting used to him, it's not as bad anymore.  Hope your allergy clears up as well and you can freely enjoy making friends with your feline neighborhood charmer.

  8. We have a cat, or should I say it has us.  It's black with white paws, short haired, 5 months old, a little wild monster, the terror of the furniture, with such innocent eyes demanding instant forgiveness and a cuddle.  He could tell I was complaining about him and so he jumped on my lap and now is purring and looking up at me with dreamy feline eyes saying, I own you, don't move, I am comfortable now.

The Gentlemen - spin off series from Guy Ritchie's film of the same title. Shan't say too much to avoid giving anything away, but with a strong cast and a sharp and often funny script, this rattles along with the occasional nod to early outings from the director. Ritchie fans will be pleased to know that Ritchie revisits all of his favourite schticks: drug dealers, the aristocracy, pikeys and arrogant Americans, so if Ritchie is your bag, then you'll probably love this. Great fun without taking itself too seriously.

The suspension of disbelief is essential throughout, yet I binge watched this fun series.

All that crime and not a copper in sight, lovely.

So you agreed with everything in that Twitter post then - is that what we were supposed to assume?

Do what you like in your own life, believe what you want, question everything, read any news sites or X accounts that appeal to you - neither I nor any other poster has stated that you shouldn't do that. What I and others have said or suggested to you is that reposting things that you think are legitimate without comment or context leave you open to accusations of pushing disinformation or "sockpuppetry" as it's colloquially known.

If you're happy to be regarded as such, there's nothing to stop you unless a mod decides you've broken forum rules. But I can't quite work out if you're being naïve or disingenuous in your posts here because your responses are often quite bizarre.

I don't care you what you think, but I do find it amusing and revealing how you repeatedly call for assistance from the mods.

"Some legitimate points raised here IMO"

That was your only comment about the Twitter/X post that you posted up on here. By doing so, you gave it legitimacy and helped to spread the message wider and, whilst this is a restricted forum, I believe that's problematic.

So maybe you should reflect on how you present alternative viewpoints on here or, better still, "give it a rest".

What part of IMO do you not understand?  I have every right to my opinion, it doesn't mean it's correct or that you will agree with it.  I will consider any point, or opinion legitimate that I please, how do you like that, eh?  I will also change my mind as suits me and visit any news outlet I want to, without asking your approval.  Are you seething yet?
