Ive mentioned before but I believe we owe Wigan money if Marshall plays again for us so dont think it is down to his ability.

When the embargo gets lifted we should be able to bring players in on free's
Yes it may not be ideal & they wont be match fit straight away but there will still be some decent frees to bulk up our squad for the season & strengthen our bench.
Also, after the international break we should hopefully have Ebosele, Baldock & Knight back to add to Saturdays matchday squad.

    Roos mistake - it happens.
But we brought it on ourselves, sitting back when they were there for the taking.
Sure, the Lawrence injury didn't help but Sibley and Morrison were mostly anonymous in the second half.
Please can we stop this faffing about with goal kicks.

No way is Mel sitting talking to the EFL if he genuinely believes they are dead set on issuing a 12 point deduction.
He would be out fighting and pushing our side in the media.
He obviously wants to draw a line under things, get a couple of signings over the line, steady the ship and then sell up.
    So - my view..
In an ideal world he wants 0 point deduction and a small fine or suspended points deduction.
He would take 3 points as a compromise, a disappointment but not a disaster.
6 points is a very bitter pill to swallow but possibly just about bearable if we can get a few more points on the board and ultimately a takeover is the result.
Anything more than that is a definite, no.

Presumably would be extremely reliant on what happens with the EFL in the next couple of days, but The Athletic reports an interest in a loan for the young Irish West Ham striker, alongside Boro and Huddersfield:

IF Lawrence does start I do think it will be ahead of Sibley.
Sibley played the full 90 vs Sheff U whereas Jozwiak got subbed off.
I think in a local Derby, the first infront of fans for over a year, which will probably be high tempo and frantic that Jozwiak can probably be trusted more than Sibley to both keep position & also keep his temperament under control.
And finally, I feel like Sibley is more likely to have an impact from the bench vs tired legs than Jozwiak would.

Not really telling him how to spend his money. More of a case of insisting that he settles the liabilities he has racked up. There would seem to be quite a few people in that queue.

People have been critical of the EFL for allowing clubs to go to the wall so the business plan could be a safeguard that the club doesn't go under Seems the EFL can't win.

Bang on.  The football decision is balancing the points deduction with a quick exit from the transfer embargo and whether we are confident of making up the difference with new players

I don’t buy that this has been leaked by Percy / Nicholas Randall to try and destabilise us before the game tomorrow.
I’d imagine this is nothing new to anyone within the club, including Rooney and the players so it’s business as usual and if anything, only Enhances the siege mentality.
Forest are just going to look a whole lot worse than they already are if they lose to us tomorrow, I don’t see any gain at all by them or Percy leaking this out.

Let's assume that the financial information demanded within the punishment for the accounting breach has been presented, I am guessing the 'constructive dialogue' that is ongoing centres around culpability.
I think we have to assume at this point that restated accounts are reflecting a breach in P&S allowances and therefore a further punishment is due. We don't know that of course, but the fact this is still rumbling on (and the fact we used a non-standard amortisation policy in the first place - why do that unless it was 'needed'?) points that way.
It seems logical that both sides want to settle the matter so are perhaps ready to set aside the full EFL disciplinary protocols to get things sorted. I would guess the argument will be centring on the fact that, by accepting the 2016 accounts, the EFL removed the necessity of the club altering its course for 2017 and, indeed a few subsequent seasons.
The club will be arguing that the EFL accept some culpability in this matter and that a punishment should reflect that.
For what it's worth (not very much!) I think we'll end up with a 6 point deduction like Sheffield Wednesday did last year. I'm not saying the 'crimes' are anything related, but regulators love to hide behind perceived precedent.

Breach of financial regulations is a catch all statement that means anything. It does not mean necessarily Derby have breached spending limits.
It “should” be coming down purely to how much we’ve breached by and there won’t be much of a negotiation. If we’re guilty of a 12 point breach through overspending, that is the worst sanction you can get and means we would be way over the limits. The club can try to negotiate but won’t get much in this scenario. Lots of people have poured over the accounts that were available (including mr Maguire) and seemed to think we’re ok or just over so not a 12 point deduction, 3 points at the most. Yes this does not factor in 18/19 accounts so that is an unknown.
The fact we’re negotiating and seemingly hard (not accepting the 9 points) would suggest it isn’t a major breach and they are still trying to do us for aggravating factors which the club would have a case given 2 disciplinary panels and the LAP didn’t question our conduct and motives.
It’s now a power play as has been implied by John Percy. We want resolution so we know where we stand and Mel can sell the club. The EFL wants to appease its noisy members and this could be its only chance to get Derby to take a punishment they could avoid by pursuing it. But can Mel sell the club with this process ongoing, and additionally what does this process continuing mean for the embargo we’re in.
Its purely politics now and has been for a long time.

If an individual is charged with a criminal offence then time spent in prison awaiting trial is deducted from any sentence when found guilty.

Surely the inability to sign players and play talented U23 players should be taken into consideration when assessing points deduction and other sanctions?

If we havent breached P&S for any of the 3 year cycles from 2015 to 2020 then Derby wont accept any point deduction, why would they?!
If we do accept a point deduction it will surely be because we have breached P&S somewhere along the lines but only because we have had to change the accounts. So we would then appeal a point deduction if the EFL chose the max punishment they can issue, the EFL probably know that we would appeal it so it makes sense to try & agree the punishment to get it over & done with asap
