alanmarklewis reacted to Archied in Torquay (H) FACR1 (Replay) Tues 15th Nov 2022
Really enjoyed watching that ,the team went out and did the job with some cracking goals
some don’t seem to warm to warne but personally I like him he just seems genuine and I reckon that players will warm to him and want to play for him , yes he can seem a bit cheesey but it’s not fake cheesey which is very different
feel a bit sad for some of the stick sibley is getting on here as it seems to me he is being asked to play in different positions and different ways to help a very thin squad and he is stepping up to the plate and giving his all without complaint

Shame really, I actually prefer the shirt with the NSPCC logo on it.

I agree it would be pretty weird to be against the NSPCC but for the record I hate kids.

It’s a good question. As you point out we’ll hopefully do much more than merely give NSPCC the profile on the shirts.
More good videos of the players showing support of the charity would be a good start. Contactless ‘giving points’ outside the ground on match days and donation links on the club website ? These’s loads they can do
Very heartened to see us go from the 32 devils incarnate to this

Whilst I don't agree with their actions, at least they're doing something. What are we all doing?

If I can join in on the post match chat and give an away fan’s perspective…..
I enjoyed the game, but only in the way I enjoyed our 0-0 at Accrington earlier this season, I enjoyed watching two teams battle it out with loads of endeavour, even if there wasn’t much creativity on show. I enjoyed watching my beloved little old Exeter playing in a proper stadium against a proper club with proper fans. And I enjoyed singing my heart out for the lads until I now sound like Barry White.
As for the game, if I was a Derby fan I would be disappointed. You were the better side and the referee was poor for you, amazing for us. I didn’t think our keeper should have been sent off due to the ball going left and our covering defenders, but he certainly should have been booked and a free kick given. Amazing decision - as were lots of goal kicks / throw ins, especially the one in the last minute which was just in front of us. Hilarious.
I thought you looked a solid side, you just couldn’t create much in the last third, so although I thought you were the better side you didn’t really trouble our keeper, apart from the free kick which drew an excellent save from him.
The reason we celebrated the final whistle so much was not only that we’d come to the home of a genuine footballing ‘big club’ and got a point, but we’ve had horrendous defensive injury problems in recent weeks, two of our players are staring down the barrel of a court appearance after their actions on Saturday night (I’m on their side by the way), we’ve had a new manager for 24 hours and we’ve got a team full of academy graduates.
Finally (thanks for humouring me), what did you make of our support? I’m always interested in the other team’s view of us - did our numbers surprise you? Could you hear us? Can never tell with stadium acoustics. I thought your support was great considering how low you are in the football league compared to your history and also considering it wasn’t the most exciting game to watch.
Anyway, thanks for letting me join in. I might pop back when we play you at home next Spring. Good luck for the rest of the season. COYR (works for Reds and Rams).

Ours would be Chris Martin of Coldplay (used to be a season ticket holder, his dad still is), Joss Stone (member of the Supporters Trust that owns the club) and Liam Tancock, the Olympic swimmer (born and bred in Exeter, still regularly goes to games).
I make that a draw, possibly an away win.
In case you didn’t know, and assuming any of you give a flying one, we are one of the very few clubs in the country that are owned by the Supporters Trust. So we have no external debt (other than to the Trust), but no real assets other than the players, particularly the young Academy players, which are the main source of keeping us going. We bring through youngsters and then play them and / or sell them.
Names you might know who came through our Academy and we sold for decent money:
Ollie Watkins, Matt Grimes, Ryan Harley, Jordan Storey, Jordan Moore-Taylor, Christy Pym, Dean Moxey (played for you lot), George Friend, Alfie Pond (just sold to Wolves for £500k), Jay Stansfield (sold to Fulham now back on loan to us), Ethan Ampadu, Mark Ellis, David Fox, Jordan Tillson, etc.
Just realised we’re great at producing really good Jordans.
So, we’re never going to win the Premier League, but we’re sustainable and trying to punch above our weight in a world of mega-bucks clubs. We’re the underdog’s underdog and we bloody love it.
That’s why seeing the lads walk out at Pride Park will mean so much to us. For our boys to be on the same pitch as a famous, proper club like Derby County will be wonderful to see. To win would involve several pairs of pants in the away end being soiled.
If you’ve read this far, thanks for humouring me.

Yeah it’s a joke, all this football without fans is nothing, here they are moving a game where fans have to drive 3 hours+ back home at 10pm on a Friday night. 1am at best if you live in Derby and can get back in the car without a piss stop.
Public transport is not an option unless you stay over the night, adding to the expense of attending the game with hotels, food, drinks.
I’ll be honest, it’s a game I would never be able to get to with the new allocation rules so works out great for me, but that’s not what football is about, providing entertainment for those at home on their sofas should always be secondary.
If the governing bodies want empty stadiums, continue this way, ask the players, the staff what they would prefer.
Do the clubs not have to agree to these fixture changes, I’m sure they do so it’s incredibly poor by both clubs, if not, I apologise.
Either way Sky Sports, you deserve the middle finger for this one. ?

alanmarklewis reacted to RebelScum in Jake Brierley Port Vale (H) 08-10-22 Family Request
Hi guys
My nephew, Jake passed away on August 12th aged 23. Despite being dealt a bad hand he enjoyed life to the full possessing a sharp, dry wit and a fondness for dressing well - the other thing we had in common ? was our love for Derby County!
Many of you will recognise Jake, a life-long season ticket holder in the West Stand attending matches with his Dad.
His family are orchestrating a minutes applause at the 23rd minute during the Port Vale home match on Saturday October 8th.
Extended family will be in attendance and there will be a brief write up about Jake in the match day programme.
These tributes are becoming more common, but I think that because they are often not official and fan-led they are even more poignant - and it would be a great gesture for one of our own.
Assistance in spreading the word from members of this forum would be so very much appreciated.

Could be a great signing for them seeing as they didn't have to pay a transfer fee.
At least they're buying a few players in an attempt to be competitive, can't knock them for trying.
