Why don't they stack up ? Ok what I should've said was I,ve seen enough of them this season ....they don't get humped by fives and sixes like we did on a regular basis that season 

After watching Sheffield tonight though one thing is sure ...they are a much better side than the embarrassing shambles that we were that season ...so they don’t deserve to break the record and don’t think they will 

Yeah so once again the most likely scenario is it’s broken one day in the future by someone who has a points deduction. Which doesn’t quite do it for me

@HuddersRam, I was astounded and depressed by the stat that said, if McClaren had been there from the start of the 13/14 season, and if we’d maintained our PPG during that period, we’d have finished on 108 points.
Of course, it’s a huge ‘if’, but it goes to show how good we really were.

If he does join us, can you imagine the pressure that he’d be under if he didn’t score in the first half dozen games?
We need more than one new striker. 

The benefit of having a later than usual summer transfer window is that the gap until the next window is much shorter. The January window opens in only 12 weeks. If waiting such a short period saves the club £800k or more then it's probably a wise move in the current financial circumstances (providing we still want/need him in January)

As others have alluded to, he's the best they could've hoped for, and I have no doubt he'll steer them clear of trouble.

He doesn't need to be on a plane though, does he? A player doesn't need to be in the country for us to sign him, or else we'd never have had that whole Kieftenbeld situation.

the bloke was a decent player for us over a relatively short period of time ,we enjoyed him, he had the best period of his career , he was payed very well ,we had a run of managers that didn’t fancy him ,cocu saw something in him and wanted him to stay ,they couldn’t agree terms and he moved on ,,,,, the reaction from some on here is massively over the top even to the point of we constructively dismissed him ? and your trying to paint my strongly refuting this guff as over the top???‍♂️

And that's why it's probably a game of poker right now between the 2 clubs, which may go down to the wire (Monday).  I'm sure there's shedloads gonig on we don't know about right now. The old swan analogy - graceful above the water, but paddling like buggery below it!

Makes me think we have no money, other clubs reluctant to sell and Premier Leagues clubs waiting to the end of the window before we loan anyone out.

Yeh - But we keep having to start from Year One all over again every time we get a new manager - This is my biggest frustration
For me this is the most successful Year One we've ever had - A full and proper clear out and drafted some genuine talent in from the youth setup - Now Year Two needs to be about getting the style right and establishing a spine for the team - I'm totally fine with a mid-table finish if we can see that moving in the right direction

After Cocu said a player should arrive early in the week, after it being glaringly obvious we have needed a striker for a long time, after Cocu taking our only fit striker off after 45 minutes, I'd consider it a huge disappointment if we werent able to field a new striker on Saturday.
The recruitment team have done well so far, a couple of gambles in Ibe and Duncan, but on the whole they have done well. The striker position is absolutely key however and as each game ticks by and each point goes begging, the fact we havent yet signed a replacement for Chris Martin renders the other signings as useless as without the striker, it's quite evident we cant set up as Cocu would like.

If we sign a 10m striker you’d say it’s a gamble and can’t afford it if we try and sign a player no one knows you find something to criticise his age or anything so it doesn’t matter who we sign does it...just what exactly are you expecting ffs...our scouting team has been slated including from myself....now we are looking further afield at players we’ve never heard of and that’s wrong ....so please tell us Roy ...what exactly would stop your non stop vitriol ....
