I’m not sure whether I feel sorry for Wayne Rooney or not. On the one hand he has been strung along like the rest of us and for his first job as a manager, he couldn’t have picked a more basket-case club.
But on the flip side, we offered the job to him on a silver platter. He had no experience, his presence undermined the former manager and we’ve rolled out the red carpet for him since day one.
Realistically, no other Championship club would touch Rooney. Why would they? Perhaps the reason he has stuck around this long and won’t quit is because without gaining experience as a number two somewhere like John Terry, we’re the best he can currently get.

I’d back that XI to be competitive. Cerainly doesn’t look like a side which would get hammered every week.
Without an adequate bench for injuries, suspension and tiredness, it’s going to be a tough ask for them to starve off relegation though.

Even though I can’t be arsed anymore. I’ll still turn up. Bamfords

Mel has been terrible at running this football club during his tenure, but he hasn’t done it purposely or with clear intentions to cause harm.
He certainly isn’t in the realm of Glazers, Oystons, 3 Amigos territory.
I don’t understand what could be gained from abusing (or booing) him. He isn’t a charlatan or he hasn’t been peforming a scandal. He must be well aware of how bad his tenure has been, and he is actively looking to sell.

A good manager at this level can be the difference between lower midtable and a run at the playoffs. Neil Warnock, Mick McCarthy and Chris Hughton have proven that on several occasions.

I don’t rate Lawrence at all. He’s probably dynamite in training when there is no pressure and the intensity is at 70%, but during games he struggles to see the bigger picture half the time and that’s what lets him down.
Saying that, we won’t find a better player than him under the current restrictions. So selling him makes zero sense unless it’s a question of starving off administration or something drastic like that.

The summer of 2015 was pure madness.
But what was arguably worse was doubling down with Rowett and Lampard after. Those two managers used Mel’s finances and Derby’s standing for personal gain.
Rowett was happy to load us with ridiculous wages for the likes of Huddlestone, Davies, Lawrence, Wisdom and Ledley. Our wage bill had succeeded £40m at at point, up from the £16m or so we had in 2013/14. It was an all-or-nothing approach and he knew it, hence dumping us for Stoke.
Mel was then sweet-talked into allowing Lampard to further cause problems. Marriott, Waghorn, Malone, Jozefzoon + the three loans. Last-chance saloon time. And again, Lampard left a huge mess behind.
Mel has been a terrible owner. But I’d still hold him in higher regard than Rowett or Lampard. At least Mel’s heart was in the right place. The other two used us, abused us and left us on our knees with a mess they didn’t want to face.

In terms of the past 20 odd years, I don’t remember Steve Howard missing one. Head down, no pathetic stuttered run up, and just a hard-placed finish into the corner.
Harry Wilson was admittedly good. While our shoot-out win over Southampton in the playoffs 2007 was arguably an example of how to take perfect penalties. Those who stepped up and scored gave the GK no chance, even if he went the right way. Considering the occasion, nerves of steel.

Yes. It's not a celebration of the player/manager. It's a celebration of said player/manager's achievements at Derby.

I didn't call you Shirley. I was posing the question?
Regardless of who the player is, what he may have done previously and his standing in the game, only those who have made the biggest of impacts at Derby should be recognised in such honour.
You may disagree. But I think it would be weird, like Fulham erecting a statue of Michael Jackson.

I don't like Wayne Rooney being there. He has played no part in Derby's illustrious history.
I don't mind Rooney having his own banner elsewhere in managerial clothing. One which can be removed at any time. But he is there in a Derby playing shirt lining up with proper Derby icons.
Would also ruin the entire banner should Rooney be sacked after a few months... Or would we keep him there to celebrate his great noteworthy contribution to Derby as a player?

I think it was said that Harry Kane has a gentleman’s agreement where if a bid comes in, Spurs will honour his wish to leave. But they then rejected the bid and demanded £40m more.
Probably a bit of politics going on. But I imagine fans will be more annoyed at Levy than Kane.
Spurs were in such a good position in 2018-19 but Levy’s refusal to habd Pochettino funds has seen them go massively backwards.
