Chellaston Ram reacted to Norman in Paul Warne
So, I was never a Paul Warne fan. I wasn't enthused by the style of play or the players he signed.
However, the more I hear and read, the more I think he's done a very solid job. Not the bare minimum - but I understand why people would think the latter.
I've changed my mind because of the following.
The legacy contracts of Bird and Sibley seem to have been taking up far more of the budget than I thought. Reading posts from @Ambitious, it seems very likely both were on 15k and maybe some more. Then there's the wages of Hourihane. Great leader, but since Wigan away, he's been slowly ambling around like an old moose who's been asked to trample the grass down. Again, from the TalkSport interview, it would seem that there were players on 10k, or a bit more, who didn't really fit the system.
So, that's a long-winded way of saying that a lot of wages have been tied up in players that we can easily improve on, probably by paying less money. Sibley, as much as i want him to kick-on, isn't worth 15k a week as an average LWB, for example.
I'm expecting, with the addition of Ebou to start things off, a very strong and athletic midfield. The defence needs a good LB and GK. I think both are lined-up and achievable.
I think PW is the right person to build a squad, on a modest (for this league) budget, that will still be competitive. I wouldn't have said that 3 months a go.

You’re probably right but this latest action feels as if it could be seismically shifting of the game itself, whichever way it goes.
The soul of the game in the sense of relatively equal competition that allowed, for example, us as an East Midland club with a proud and long history to reach the pinnacle of the game in this country and, importantly, stay there for several years, is long gone. Likely never to return. When clubs are owned by countries and extraordinarily wealthy ones at that, with aims of a financial free for all and overturning the status quo, ignoring the rules that don’t suit, then the whole sport had better be wary. Today the PL, tomorrow UEFA, the day after FIFA, or control of their competitions anyway.
If the PL lose then the domination of the wealthy few gets worse and worse; if they win they will not only create the most godforsaken administrative mess as they work out who really won what over the last 10 years (and generate endless other disputes in the process) but they will also have to cede authority in a number of areas to keep the other major players happy; if it’s a PR draw, and all the charges are dropped, then the richest get stronger.
I am so glad I have lived my era, seen my football, seen a game and sport with some reasonable approximation of soul.

That’s right , they have to sell another £50 mill player before the end of June . However , having an owner with unlimited funds they can spend £100 mill after July and get away with it , similar to Newcastle . Man C are the biggest P takers . All their trophies should be put in the Bin .

I think Luton did better than expected, but even they were pretty abject overall. They could make a fight of it in most games, but the lack of quality and quantity in their squad really was obvious in their ability to blow leads and drop points. Look at the game against BMouth, absolutely criminal.
In all honesty, those two last minute draws against us really kept them afloat. Lose those (and without the points deduction) and we're 16 points clear of them. Burnley's home form was dreadful, and Sheff Utd have to be one of the worst teams to ever grace the PL. Even worse than their last outing.
I see more of the same next season. As others have commented, the gap is widening, and those teams that already have established in the PL--which whether you like it or not, we've become--have a huge head start.
Next season it'll be the bottom three plus us, Wolves, Fulham, Brentford, and probably BMouth. Palace look fantastic, why didn't we go for Glasner again?

We love to sing we love to fight

Not been to many games recently but I think we needed to commit fully. We've been here 5 years so we don't feel out of place anymore.

Chelsea should have had blatant penalty when Boly threw a player to the ground. Chelsea are complaining to the league and considering their options, 😂😂

I don't know but the list has to be announced by the 3rd Saturday in May as Caerphilly said.
IMO, nobody would have been told they were out of the club prior to the Vegas trip, PWs not that type of guy. He will speak to the players this week, now they are back and I expect the list to be out sometime in the week.

It has to be by this Saturday (3rd Saturday in May by EFL rules) that players are notified of what is happening with their contracts so I suspect the list will be out this week.

My nephews are 14 and 18 next month.  Neither has had the chance to see Derby in the top flight and competing.  Would love them to see it for a few years.  18 years is frankly ridiculous when I look at some of the teams up there.  Would also mean you have a very strong budget when you come come down and can be championship top end competitive for 3 years at least.

Don’t be doing that. It has been a tough year for me.
Football is merely a hobby. 22 grown men kicking a bag of wind about. Sometimes that gets put into perspective.

Chellaston Ram reacted to Foreveram in Away tickets 24/25
They probably just looked at the chart that you have shown and assumed that away fans would be charged the same, but as I said it’s not necessarily the case.
It’s just that clubs can’t charge more but it doesn’t mean they can’t charge less.
We charge away fans the same price as fans behind the goal even though they are in the corner.
The other three corners of are ground pay £4 per match more than the away fans.

Living in Uttoxeter i know a few Birmigham fans and on saturday i was lucky enough to be in the same pub as some of them as they got relegated.
I'd done a 15 mile charity walk from 0800 to 1230 and we went to my local, the Three Tuns in Utch for a buffet and drinks. The walk was in memory of a fellow Rams fan who passed last year with proceeds to Macmillan.
As we gathered in the pub some local brummies were there who i knew and their match was on telly.
I'd done the walk in a Rams shirt so was wearing it in the pub. As the game progressed and we saw that they were going down one of them came over and gave me a bit of stick cos of me Derby shirt.
I reminded him that my son had given him a good hiding 20 years previously and it would be embarassing for him to receive one from someone his dad's age!
His dad came over and dragged him back with profuse apologies.

I have zero reason to be sorry that Birmingham have gone down!

Do they have a lot of potential being a southern club? Can’t say I’m familiar with Wycombe and its surrounding areas.
If you are a billionaire, and want to put money into a club, I see Charlton as a prime opportunity. London club, 27k stadium but looks like it could expand to higher.
Top players want to play in London. It’s the only reason the likes of Palace and Fulham are comfortable PL clubs. If they were located in the midlands they would be lower Championship clubs.
