For 20 odd mins we were up against it. Flat footed, versus hungry looking Barnsley. Regardless of strategic changes, they ran out of steam I reckon. By the end we were dominant. Sound performances from everyone. I’m struggling to pick a MOTM. That was a real team performance and heartening for it.
Funny moments - Fozzy was defending in midfield and won the FK after his opponent attempted some impromptu Scottish dancing, arm in arm with our new found imperious CB. And Curtis falling flat on his backside, then getting up and wining it back.

Happy days ! What is the clubs longest unbeaten run ?

I remember we went 20 unbeaten in 95/6 promotion year. Unsure what the record is. Love how solid at the back we look.

I think we're just not expressing ourselves very well.

If others feel the same, I think what we're trying to say is, of course we want Derby to win every game they play but it won't ruin our weekends if we get knocked out of the FA cup in the 3rd round.

It will ‘ruin’ my weekend as would a defeat at home in the league. That’s my opinion anyway.

The Cup really seems to have lost favour. Only the South and East stands open yet there are still 1756 seats available in the "home end". Barnsley won't fill the SE Corner either. I doubt we'll get more than 13K in for the game.

Derby like a lot of teams havent bothered in the cups fielding weak teams. Maybe with thinner squads it’s been closer to a first team in the last couple of seasons but it’s demoralising buying a ticket and seeing a reserve team. Seeing teams like Wigan Birmingham and Leicester win cups in the last couple of decades, it’s a shame Derby have not been anywhere near.

Honestly I'm not a Warne critic, but he does have a habit of saying really odd things.

He said he was disappointed with aspects of today, the game was too open, Torquay could have scored 3 etc. Couldn't really bring himself to compliment the performance very much. Said he has a lot of over 30s, and a lot of u21s, and that 22-28 is the peak age to play which he doesn't have many of. Said the Torquay fans were great. Mark Chapman said "the Derby fans were great too though". He says "oh yeah of course, good banter tonight as it should be. But it's easier to be supportive when you're winning. Torquay were losing. That's why I respect them"

Just...why do you need to say that mate? Why criticise the performance? By all means be a perfectionist, but come on, that's such a Nigel Clough thing to say! ?

Like I said, I'm just not used to the way he is. Football does the talking in terms of his ability as a manager and we've just won 5-0 so no issue there. He just has me scratching my head when I hear him speak

Some wasteful attacking play early on- Should have scored more in the first half and there some decisions by players and passing could have been better - eg Sibley had a fantastic chance to pass early on for on of our players to get one and one and wasted it, and there was another one or two passages like that when we really should have been punishing them more. We were through quite a lot and didn’t capitalise. I guess he might have been getting at that?

It's a cup tie played in tricky conditions which we were dealing comfortably with until Cashin gave the ref a chance to even things up. We didn't manage 10v11 as well as we could have, but we're a hotch-potch of a team equally split between two generations with little in between and don't deserve roasting when we don't perform.

We're still in the cup as well, though it sounds more like we got knocked out.

Paul Warne's interview was spot on.

Tricky conditions yes but part of the criticism is conceding a red card and penalty. Still in the cup but very lucky to be so. The players didn’t do well enough, age shouldn’t be used as an excuse. The second half was woeful. Derby have been down to ten before and not looked so poor. There needs to be proper criticism about this performance and there will be. Not good enough. Liverpool chance to redeem themselves though.

I notice this has brought out the wrist-slashers in force. How long do you reckon it will be until they've burnt themselves out and it'll be safe to come back on the forum? ?

Not wrist slashing. I’m not a wrist slasher but the performance needs to be called out. 6 penos conceded in 8 matches. Awful second half. Truly awful. Well done Torquay but fans are right to be angry. That was horrendous and lucky to get a replay.
