We need experience. Wassall gets some strange praise, probably due to that worldy team goal v Hull that happened on his watch.

Rotherham away, playing Thorne in a dead rubber, Hull first leg, MK Dons at home, all this with a strong squad back in the day.

He churns good academy products out. Keep it that way.

He took charge for odd matches. He gets praise because the youngsters have developed.

I was joking, I'm not underestimating League one I know how difficult can be. Sunderland down there for 4 seasons. But if we can get things sorted off the field, there is absolutely no reason why we won't quickly bounce back. We just need to get some players in and create a good atmosphere like we did last season. As we've seen that can take you a long way.

Need a striker. Every club that did well last season had a striker on 15 plus goals. I fear if the club loses any more players it will be a season of struggle. I',m not expecting much from next season unless we sign some players including a goalscorer.

Well the curse was lifted by gypsies just before the 1946 FA Cup Final...so could be a little truth that there was something mystic going on

And the Leicester ground was blessed by Buddhist monks or something.. and suddenly they win the league ? Leicester? There has definitely been some lingering curse at Derby. Can any Derby fans into witchcraft or voodoo give us some special blessing. I think MM must have run over 10 black cats or something or broken a few mirrors.

    See option 1 or 2

Will they accept 1? I thought EFL wants funding for whole season. As in an acceptable business plan to break even. I dont see how month to month financing will work as income won't be enough to be self generated in all likelihood

Only if we are breaking a rule in Admin. We are not. Currently we have paid our way, haven't reduced salaries of players or missed payments without an agreement with the creditors. We are allowed to be in Admin until March 23.

Our options going into the season (in  admin)

    1) we keep funding the club month by month, keep contracted players and make the rest of the team up of youth players.

    2) Provide proof the club can continue to trade for the full season on a break even budget, this will allow us to sign players externally, for example bringing in the likes of Morrison/Fozzy/Davies again as long as they are happy with £4k a week again.

At some point next season you would hope the takeover has gone through.

They have no grounds to remove membership.

If funding isn't secured they can. They won't risk fixtures being incomplete etc.

No he wouldn't have bought by now.  He is an experienced businessman.  He is not going to be first out the blocks trying to buy a distressed business asset.  He will wait until there are no other options to get it as cheap as is possible.

He won't care about performance.  What matters is the potential of the deal.

Of course he will care about performance. Also, EFL won’t let this run and run. They could pull the plug very soon. If Derby are looking like they are headed for league 2, I doubt Mike Ashley will be that keen. The point is, if he really wanted DCFC he would be the owner by now. No question. If anyone will end up owning us I doubt it will b MA

I haven’t said I take everything q say at face value but if they said no bidder was willing to take on responsibility for Boro claims I have absolutely no reason to doubt that.

The allegation made by Ashley  is that they were told by q that he was preferred bidder. That was at a time when Boro claim was still current. Q thought they could deal with that claim in a certain way Efl had other ideas. Who was right Efl or q may be hotly disputed. Either way Ashley’s bid was not progressable without Boro claim being disposed of one way or another . Once it was why didn’t Ashley then proceed with his bid?

As for Appleby claim, has he offered to pay June wages? If not his offer is not compliant as he claims because we will immediately be faced with a 3 point penalty and possibly much worse.

If Ashley was really that keen he would have bought the club by now. The issue with leaving it late to make a purchase of DCFC is it’s not like a normal business- performance on the field will be affected with points deductions, reduced squad etc.

Knowing our luck the EFL probably have some clause where all gypsy curses must carry onto the successor club in the case of liquidation.

Can someone just get hold of that DcFC voodoo doll and remove all the pins? Change it to a Forest doll or something.

Can only hope Morris wipes off some off these debts. Surely he'd rather get back some money than potentially nothing if the club goes under?

Has he actually got any money left ?? I doubt it apart from some assets

It’s already been said that won’t happen, if it came to it the EFL member clubs would overwhelmingly vote to kick us out the league. The reality of becoming a Phoenix club will be we’d have to negotiate our starting position somewhere in the non league. Becoming a Phoenix club in League 2 is just wishful thinking.

Keeping what is becoming a carcass going by hook or by crook is the only option. If Qs statement is the reality of the situation and the reason they haven’t engaged with Appleby is the bid doesn’t satisfy the minimum EFL criteria for retaining golden share then I think a Bolton scenario is looking increasingly likely and next season will be the most painful in our 138 year history as we get relegated to our lowest point. I probably will get a season ticket but I will fully understand many even loyal supporters not, unless Rooney can somehow galvanise us again to defeat the odds, at least we won’t start on -15 points (for next season at least).

    Money talks it may do

Thats the inevitable point of view I'm coming to ?

Throughout this entire debacle I've been reasonably confident we'll get sold, dust ourselves down and begin the long road back. Now I'm not so sure.  It seems like no one is willing to pay what is necessary (more than we're worth) to save the club.  The next best option is to  accept a realistic bid, -15pts, small inexperienced squad and potential slide into League 2.  But even that, as of yet, doesn't seem to be forthcoming.

Hypothetically, If you assume that given the size of Derby (number of fans) it will cause security concerns to allow us to restart much below league 2/Conference at what point does a phoenix club become a better financial decision than the lowball -15pt potential slide into League 2 bid?

I still hope someone comes in with more money than sense but, its starting to look like the inevitable imho. Surely the EFL will pull the plug in the coming weeks if can't prove funding beyond a month to month basis and start recruiting players?!?

Looks this way now unfortunately. Maybe a deal will be done to start AFC Derby County into League2. Everything practically the same except legally. No debts and acquired on the cheap.

My thoughts also! I just don’t understand it at all

It obviously wasn’t a competitive bid then. No one will pay the required price it seems- maybe there is hope EFL would relax their own rules on exiting administration.

The longer this process drags on, the less certain I feel though I like to think something will get sorted out.

However, the nightmare scenario is that Morris retains control of us. I don't know how this would work. I remember a Middlesbrough fan, during twitter spats, defending Gibson and making a comment that Morris was the one in the background still controlling proceedings. Didn't he appoint Quantuma? . In a recent article, John Percy, mentioned how Appleby had agreed a deal in January but it was mysteriously called off. Percy stated that it was Steve Morgan who was dealing with Steve Gibson

Other twitter users were cynical about Kirchner, stating that Quantuma panicked & selected him as PB due to pressure from the EFL etc. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but why go with an unknown quantity - who we now realize was using us for his own ends/investment vehicle? - when someone proven at running a club, and the very club itself for sale, was prepared to make an offer. The choice of Kirchner meant that some of Appleby's backers went elsewhere (Riley).

Another twitter user posted a comment along the lines that Morris would simply take us over again. That would alienate the fanbase but would he care? The club would be run on a shoestring (wages, budget) but would still command a large fan-base/Season ticket sales. The matchday revenue would still be quite significant even if it dropped by a large margin. He knows he has a captured audience. He'd make Mike Ashley look like a dream in comparison.

Perhaps Morris thinks he can claw back some of the money he has lost whilst retaining the club & the ground, which may increase in value if we return back to the second tier.

Some observers (Nixon) have pointed out that somebody along the way has to take a hit in order to enable a sale to go through. I feel Morris is not prepared to do this. And his retention of the stadium as separate from the club has proved to be the major sticking block.

Why would Morris take over Derby again? He has spent years trying to sell the club and failed. Morris doesn’t want to own Derby, he can’t afford it most likely anyway.

This is the likely scenario. But its still odd. Kirchner has wasted all this time and put our club further into the s****. Tom Lawrence must be a right plinker to post that photo

True, maybe not brightest move by Lawrence. Could be that Kirchener has explained to him, it was out of his control and his money really is being investigated or something. Maybe TL doesn't believe he really was a time waster or there is another side to the story we don't know about. Or TL just isn't very bright and loves golf.
