    Its an interesting point.

What were the actual punishments for being in administration, as opppsed to breaches of FFP?

Obviously there was 12 point deduction, which on its own was surmountable.

Without the 9 point deduction for FFP breaches, we would would be starting this season in the Championship and would potentially only have lost a couple of players as opposed to most of the squad.

Administration - 12 point penalty, playing squad decimated, staff redundancies, threat of liquidation, EFL plan and scrutiny going forward that could well be prohibitive, creditors losing money, fans mental health affected, maybe even staff and players, loss of talented young players. Any club that enters administration like any business isn’t guaranteed to come out of it well- think government website has stats but there is always a threat a business won’t be rescued.

I decided to have a nosey on the Sheffield Wednesday forum to see what players they were being linked with lately and in their transfer thread they mentioned our link to Roofe. This was one of the responses ....

There you have it, there was no real downside to us going into administration. ?

Wow, no downside of administration? Obviously that poster isn’t the brightest

I was disappointed that we sold Christie and replaced him by spending twice as much money on Wisdom, I could never understand the love for Wisdom, he was strong and he was strong and he was strong and that's about it. He was very slow and turned slower than the QE2. If he went past the half way line he got a nose bleed. He was totally unsuited to be a modern full back, maybe suited to the right side of a back 3.

Thought Wisdom looked solid but not a modern full back type. However Wasn’t convinced on Christie.

The head says we can't afford to blow £1M of the wage budget on one player. If he doesn't get sold, or more likely sent out on loan, we're either selling someone significant (assuming we can use Football Fortune income to boost the permitted wage budget) or facing the prospect of breaching the terms of our EFL Business Plan.

    Can anyone convince me otherwise?

Love Bielik but he's been injured too much. A Premier League quality player though, too good for this league but even if he stays, can he stay fit? Then again, look at Fozzy these days after all his issues.

I have read this forum long enough to know there was nothing meant by it as B4 seems like the most genuine person out there.

It’s just frustrating that even in 2022 skin colour is still used as a way to identify people.

Skin colour/ appearance is used to identify people by all sorts of people and it’s not necessarily racist.

Age and experience doesn't automatically equal know-how.

It seems people are now happy for us to chuck away wages on players happy to sit on the bench knowing and being happy with the fact that  they'll hardly ever have to play to earn them, just because they're popular in the dressing room. Beats me!

Need squad depth. I think Stearman will probably play a fair bit as well. Good characters are vital in a team. Glad we have Stearman and finally getting some depth which will be badly needed after injuries and suspensions.

He is a very odd character, he kind of thinks he's 'winning' as well, it's very very strange. A few months ago he even temporarily created a twitter account and tweeted myself among others on this board implying he'd 'found us out'. The odd thing about the OTIB board is that nobody ever thinks to say, hang on, stop, this is rowlocks!

Sounds like a Leicester fan who was on all the East Midlands boards a while ago trying to drum up rivalry really wanting people to hate Leicester!

I do find it rather ironic that some members of this forum are obsessed with someone who is obsessed with us ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️

Don’t think anyone is obsessed here- it’s an interesting point of note that on Bristol forum (and others) there are obsessive people about DCFC. It’s funny although at least one of them may have mental issues as it’s not normal to join many boards to bang on about Derby. Really bizarre.
Crazy how people think Derby have ‘got away’ with anything as well. It really is a distorted reality when people know only half truths and Chinese whispers.

@alramThere's little point asking how much we're paying the players we're signing, because no-one knows. We don't even have the details of the EFL restrictions and business plan. You're just whining into the abyss at this point. None of us know. None of us. No-one. None.

Sooner or later, rumours will start. If those rumours suggest we might be paying excessive wages, everyone can then write to our friend Trevor at the EFL and ask him if DCFC are adhering to the business plan, although it'll probably be pointless because (a) Mr Ploppy of Bristol will already have written to him and (b) the EFL will already have deducted points off us because if you imagine they won't be all over us like a rash, you're possibly on even stronger drugs than I am.

I assume the Bristol forum will have a meltdown if Derby sign more players? Pages and pages of nonsense and bile on there....funny or disturbing can't work out which.

I'd always found Ipswich fans to be a fairly well-adjusted rational bunch and have sat and talked with their fans before games so it's a shame if even that lot have lost their s*** over us 'getting off lightly' and illustrates what a great misinformation job has been done on us by some parties. It's just bizarre how transfer embargo for almost 2 years, relegation-ensuring points deductions and absolute plundering of the academy to the tune of tens of millions of pounds of talent and denial of the opportunity to preserve the value of any of our playing assets by renewing contracts so we can at least get some money for the steady stream of players leaving when they were inevitably got looted. But no, none of that seems to count. I though the mostly blank squad list posted by someone the other day illustrated the scale of things perfectly! (Before the small burst of incomings...). Oh, and almost ceasing to exist as a club... but no, you're right, its been a breeze.

These deluded fans of other teams are welcome to go through what we've been through if they think it was anything less than utterly traumatic. It's been death by a thousand cuts with likely years of damage and setbacks inflicted.

Most fans of other clubs I have spoken to (even Forest) have been sympathetic and understand how disgustingly the fans of DCFC have been treated. Some also agree the EFL have been awful with us- eg accountancy experts agreeing with Derby’s view on the amortisation plus EFL failure to stop Gibson. I don’t know about other teams boards but they often attract people who don’t know the facts.
That Bristol guy may have specific problems so maybe it’s best not to mention him. Anyone joining multiple fans forums with this weird agenda shouldn’t be thought of as coherent.

Completely believed his own propaganda which obviously contained traces of truth and a majority of what he wants

He doesn’t understand administration and how often creditors take a hit which is better than liquidation. He is obsessed with Derby it’s quite funny. He may have a problem though which explains the fixation on DCFC.

Yes and no. Like I said a tough gig. But expectations are lower because of that . Any other job and there will be different pressures.

Not necessarily about expectations. About day to day involvement- player uncertainty, stress, all the off field stuff that was unexpected. It’s not necessarily about just a ‘free hit’ because that has obviously come with a lot of stress and work and not being able to manage the team how he wanted. I just think he couldn’t take any more players leaving and had enough of it all. Can’t blame him. He probably thought a takeover would have been done ages ago.

The "wife and kid" thing is the oldest trick in the book. This is the same wife and kids he had when he took this gig. As you say not a good look. It's been a baptism of fire for sure. Even so , saying you need a break after only 18 months in management, well doesn't sound to me like he will be able to handle football management long term.

The guy will handle management long term. He was facing another stint of losing players and managing with one hand behind his back. Nothing but respect for Rooney. Last 18 months he’s had way too much to deal with compared to other managers.

  14. Rooney couldn't prepare for the season. Cant blame the guy at all. He needs to be signing players not losing more. I think the timing probably makes sense. He may have waited long enough to see if there would be a takeover which would allow for signings and its obviously not moving fast enough. The Kirchener deal falling through maybe dealt the final blow. Disappointing to lose Rooney, he's done well to galvanise the team and work with what he had.

This is horrible but I understand it - too many players have walked out - Williams Ebosele Ebeowi etc etc not to mention all those he lined up

    very sad

And he knows next week a lot more will be leaving. Don’t really blame him. He’s been working with harder and harder restrictions.
