Is this ever going to get sorted

Mel Morris could have sold the club ages ago if he hadn’t have been greedy and then build up bigger debts. Trying to sell the club for maybe 3/4 years I think? It’s actually unbelievable how long this has taken.... maybe 2017 there were discussions about Morris trying to get out.

The administrators won't have been in discussions with anyone to say what the minimum is, if they did that nobody would bid above it.

It is up to potential buyers to bid what they think it is worth but that may not be enough.

The potential buyers are not stupid, they will know roughly what the amounts would be. Also, they will probably know what CK bid and may pitch slightly under there. There is a real deadline coming up soon with pre season and thin squad so I guess this side of conversation needs to have already happened

That is what people are not getting, if the best offer on the table doesn't meet the requirements of exiting administration then the administrators can't accept it.

What’s the point in offering something that wouldn’t be adequate to exit administration? There will have been discussions that say X is the minimum needed or something similar. A buyer will have to pay creditors an acceptable amount in order to preserve Derby playing football.

It's interesting to think about the MSD loans.

Assuming that they are being secured against the stadium then effectively it is actually Mel Morris who is providing these loans, therefore strengthening his bargaining position when it comes to the future of the club.

Do you trust him to do the right thing?

Mel will do the right thing for him first and then club second. He put Derby in administration and has run up a huge tax bill. Until he has nothing more to do with DCFC, it's just more wishful thinking than expectation. Even the academy he has invested in is now being stripped and ruined.

Wigan went through three preferred bidders. Poo happens. Wigan are Back in the championship at second time of asking.

Had lots of debts written off and different rules for HMRC I think. Hopefully DcFC can survive

He held out until after the March when Morris finally decided to help us.

Morris decided to help HIMSELF knowing the club needed to be sold to help a sale of the ground or lease of the ground. The club is dying mainly because of the actions of one man. I don’t think the existence of DCFC was under threat even when under the three amigos. What’s happening is criminal.

I’ve just seen that Apple have bought the rights to the MLS for the next 10 years, paying $250m annually (£208m). It’s nearly a 300% increase from their last deal which was negotiated in 2015.

Some deal that is, works out roughly $9m a team. The EFL currently have a deal worth roughly half of that, worth somewhere in the region if £1.6m a team, but shows the potential earning capacity of the next deal which should be being negotiated now - it’s arguably the most important negotiation that the EFL will ever have and they need to be successful if they are to preserve the league in the wake of the Premier League, who have agreed a £1.6bn a year deal for their TV rights - a staggering £80m a year per club deal. The deal runs out the year after the EFL one comes into fruition too, so by the time the EFL work out their next contract you would have to assume the Premier League will be in talks regarding a deal that pays teams well over £100m annually.

The money in the game also shows why people are ready to come to the table despite the debt so it’s not all doom and gloom.

Derby could always apply to the MLS if we get kicked out.... fun away days.

-15 points kills the season for me. We desperately need a rebuild at all playing levels and even if saved would be subject to significant restrictions based on business plan and P&L. A points deduction makes another relegation a very real threat.

I'm utterly sick of this club getting a kicking. Another points deduction would IMHO be a hammer blow for morale for players and fans alike.

Terrible but better than liquidation I guess. The way the club has been treated by Morris/EFL and others is criminal. The EFL have a lot of questions to answer. Morris disgraceful. Q as well.

I don't understand why prospective owners can't just pay the required amount to avoid a points deduction. You're effectively coming into the club and accepting relegation to League two. It just doesn't sit right with me. There must be someone who can get us out of this.

Mel Morris has created this situation. Who wants to pay millions and millions of someone else’s debt? The club is virtually unsellable because of this

How can it not be though. Unless it's literally a carbon-copy of the Kirchner deal, you're back to negotiating something for the Stadium/MSD, getting creditors to agree to a new amount/payment plan and so on.  And even then, purchasers will probably want to do their own due diligence, Quantuma/EFL will need to do theirs on the purchaser etc.  Anybody thinking somebody is going to swoop in, slap £40m on the table and have it done in an afternoon, is dreaming IMO.

And that's obviously the reason Quantuma gave Kirchner so many chances to complete - the time to start a new bid from near scratch are significantly longer than a few extra days to finish a near-complete deal.

Won't be an afternoon but things will need to move fast. This won't be allowed to be a long drawn out process.

Saying that businessmen around Derby are happy to keep derby running short term until we find a new buyer

hopefully, but EFL may want proof for the entire season. They won't want the risk of fixture cancellations etc.

For the first time I am genuinely worried for the clubs future. I can’t see how we keep the golden share since Kirchner has wasted so much time.

Probably have to wait a year for a Phoenix club. Really struggling to see a way out of this now. I think Mel Morris has killed DCFC. Hope I’m wrong but probably in the balance. Gutted about this now

3 failed takeovers, a 2 year embargo, forced to release players, forced to sell players, cap on number of free agents allowed to sign, a League 1 level wage cap for those free agents when in the Championship, a 21 point deduction, a multi year legal battle with the EFL, a legal battle with an ex player, a legal battle with an ex employee, essentially blackmailed into acknowledging Boro's and Wycombe's claims and finally top it all off by getting relegated .... but you know what? I agree with those vocal Forest, Boro, Brum fans on social media and that weird Bristol City fan who's been stalking Derby for what must be half a decade by now .... I don't think we've really been punished enough yet.

Maybe Mel was a Forest fan... or we still have the gypsy curse

Having looked at some of the vile tweets aimed at him from some 'so called Derby' fans. I don't blame him

Twitter is full of people like that: nothing to do with Derby. Not even football. Just social media/ society and inadequate system in place to block harmful posts.

  15. No idea what to believe anymore. All seems really strange -

if CK is a time waster, why spend all that money and time on trying to buy Derby plus he must have shown proof of funds.
But if he’s genuine etc, why go quiet on Dawes or BAWT or any public acknowledgment of the hold up...

I wondered what if he has the funds but his funds are dodgy?
Hope there’s some confirmation of good news soon

Not very P C to compare Ed to a person with a disability. But Ed has really put his reputation on the line here. Are we all going to apologise if his story turns out to be true?

He shouldn’t be attacked. Maybe his info is wrong but he could possibly be right. The sale should be completed by now surely? And also Dawes said Kirchener had stopped contact- surely Kirchener would put in some reassurance, not just go quiet. I think if Dawes had it in good authority the deal is off, he was right to report that. At the moment it looks like he could be correct.

I'll be honest. I don't see his ability to take over a 3rd tier English football club as being a major barrier to him running high profile international golf tournaments for the best players in the world. The money involved might be significant but I suspect that we are really don't create so much as a ripple in the world which he inhabits.

He could just blame Mel regardless
