We'll play like we did second half against Brentford, run out easy winners and someone will start a play off thread again.

I will definitely renew mine and Edward's season ticket; touch wood this will be the last chance for a while for us to share the games because Edward will be going off to University. My other son William will continue to come though.
Football is a huge part of our lives and for us it's about more than just the game. It's the whole experience; travelling to the game, pre-match, beer, meeting friends, sharing the joys and the lows and soaking up "the community". As Society has evolved into this electronic, social media-driven "life", the coming together of people with a shared passion is increasingly real and important. I think we have in Derby County a fantastic Football Club with a great history that we should openly celebrate and support. It reflects Derby, its unique and long-established football passion and its "family friendly" culture. It's bigger than football really and we should do everything we can to see the Club through this time. It really is in our DNA, {yeuthh!}.

The problem with this lies with fans expectation and funding.
We as Derby fans think Derby should be in the top division or at the top of this division. We as Derby fans cannot afford to pay the players that are good enough to be at that level (and alot of us think season ticket prices are too much). Multiply that to virtually every club in the country and you find the problem.
It is a problem that cannot be solved unless:
    1. all funding at all football clubs is shared so size and fanbase becomes irrelevant. No chance
    2. fans realise, expect and accept the standard of player that their clubs can truly afford. No chance

Half of all Championship clubs on the brink of collapse? Let it happen, poo happens. Football needs a really good shake. It really is no different to the fact that half of all British retailers, and pubs and restaurants, are on the brink of collapse.

I would stick with most of the team that has played most of the recent games. So I'd switch Bird for Baningime. I'd get Robert's in for Waghorn. But I'd only do it if they are match fit, if not, the same team should start.

I was as distraught as any after last night but if we keep up the same form as the last 12 games I think we will be OK. What worries me more than anything is if we can keep that form without Bielik as we have quality in the midfield. Hopefully the lad from Everton will improve things.

No idea why anyone would want to own us. If we want to be competitive at the top of this league we will lose millions each year. If we get promoted we will lose even more. We can't sustain our own ambition.

I'd be more than happy for Mel to stay in control of the club. His intention has always been to invest in the academy. If we end up selling some of the players that come through then I would have thought that is a good thing as long as the money is reinvested in the squad. We are currently paying for living beyond our means.

It's crazy isn't it? How can a club like Derby not be able to sustainably afford a squad good enough to compete at the top of the 2nd Division. No idea why anyone would want to waste so much money on us.

Be interesting to see what the outcome of the EFL investigation is on this. So far they have another player that has tested positive and have not called their Boxing Day game off yet. Cannot find what the covid rules are anywhere but hey have 29 players listed in their first team squad.

I think 442 is worth a try. We get crosses in but there is nobody in the box. We've got a lump, stick Whittaker/Sibley/JHI/Stretton next to him and let's see if we can trouble a defence.

You think it would really be that much difference? Waghorn would still be ordinary (kind), Lawrence still occasional, Holmes poor, no striker, Clarke won't make POTS again, a young midfield which will be inconsistent at best - that's why Rooney plays and is captain, it could be worse. We've got to the bottom of the barrel squad-wise.

I think it's quite simple really. The players are not good enough. We finished mid table last year and the squad has got worse. It's been getting worse for several years now. The full backs and centre forward positions are not as strong as last year. Our best midfielder hasn't played in midfield and the youngsters are struggling. I had big hope's that Waghorn and Lawrence would sort us out but they were terrible last night. If Bielik doesn't play well when he's back then I cannot see how we can improve.

Gutted. Think the club have made a mistake here. Long term thinking doesn't always get short term results. I'm convinced the team would not have gone down.

    Good points.
I believe we should have kept Cocu not because of any notions of him having been dealt a bad hand, my reasoning is down to him needing a bit longer to imbed his philosophy in the players. The older players seemed to be struggling to take it on board, maybe thats why he gave more minutes to teenagers than any other manager in England.
I don't feel sorry for Phil, I feel sorry for us, for Derby County. I believe it would have clicked, maybe slowly at first, but then we'd be on a Mac 1 free for all for the next few years.🐏
I suppose there is no chance nowadays of the slow build, us and owners are too impatient, too focused on short termism.

I think it's quite simple really the players are not good enough and the squad is worse than last year in my opinion. We are therefore doing worse than last year. When everyone is fit and available we will progress up the league; I'm sure we will not go down but will be no more than mid table until we get better players.
Question is really will a change of manager improve where we finish in the league significantly I.e. get us up. If not will the next manager be able to attract better players so we improve next year when we have more funds?

Mel is backing him because he's doing as Mel has asked with the academy players and squad. We've generally sold players or players have left that are better than their replacements. Combine that with the young players not playing well, injuries (everyone must have seen Lawrence made a difference) and some signings not being fit we currently have a worse team than last year. We're not going down, we're not going up, so please let's get some stability.
