Sweetness34 reacted to RadioactiveWaste in Rate Mels tenure from 1 to 10
13/14 - GSE's building finally bears fruit and we ahave a young competetive exciting team. Me goes "oh hello"
14/15 - A second go is derailed by injuries. Mel takes sole ownership. McLaren is sacked for disloyalty.
15/16 - An awful lot of Mel's money is burned on an unsuccessful attempt to get to the prem.
16/17 - Hendrick is sold against manager's wishes. Vydra and Anya come in to little effect. Peason is sacked very quickly. McLaren does a resuce job but is also sacked because ol Sankie has a charming smile.
17/18 - Tom ince and Will Huges are sold. Rowett does on a more limited budget reach the play offs. Derby fans see that rarest of phenominoms, a defense that knows what it's doing, for a season. Chairman Mel tells ol Snakie there's no money left. Before.......selling Vydra...and....
18/19 - sells himself Pride Park for substancially more than anyone previously thought it was worth. Then spends the money he paid himself on hiring Frank Lampard, loaning three very good prspects and signing some "not very good value" players for a last role of the dice.
19/20 - the need to be more rational flickers for a moment, Cocu is signed on a long term deal to bring through youth and start building towards sustainable sucess. moments before he also announces, "I've also signed Wayen Rooney on a really fancy sponsorship deal and promised him he gets to be mananger next" by the way, all the budget is in Wayne Rooney's wages. EFL "Issues" start to hover around.
20/21 - It's bad. Cocu is Sacked. It's still bad. We stay up on the last day. Thanks to a goal at Cardiff.
    21/22 - into Admin.
Well, ultimatly, it's been a ride. Ultimatly, it's ended in disaster. If that were all there was to it, it'd be sad, but we'd all live with it.
    BUT
This has not just been a ride.
This has been a story of ego, mismanagment, utter idiocy, poor decisions, and ultimatly, the fact that all this is a result of decisions Mel Morris has taken.
    On a 1-10 scale it gets 1.
What is most rage inducing is that, with even a tiny bit of sense it couldve not worked out and ended as a 6-7 for trying and failing, it wasn't boring, but it did not need to end in disaster. Even now, as look down the barrel, it's decisions taken by Mel that have robbed us even of a chance to get something sorted.
    OK 1 is too generous.

I dont use this forum much, but this is what I said last season, I felt it was clear then
My masters included business and because I love footy, I focussed on club finances, we did the exact same things all clubs do when it goes tits up,(sell few assets they have, expect manager to get results despite undermining him with transfers and etc.). The only thing is we have wasted a lot of money on court cases
The short term is going to be difficult, with a major problem next season, if we get relegated will we be offered concessions on rent for Pride Park and perhaps even training ground. How do we make up the reduction in TV money.
Also there is a huge lack of transparency by the club who keep making out they victims of a witch-hunt, over who owns the training ground and stadium.
The long term is going to be much better now imo, the only thing we have going for us:
    New owners,
Debt to Mel Morris should in theory be reduced unless Mel Morris is a Giant rick and still expects the holding company to pay back its debt to him but the club(subsidiary company) not to pay the debt back to HMRC and other
Also reduced wage bill, though at the expense of local people potentially. Wayne Rooney's wages may also be off the books. Which will help
With Mel you never know what the next step, he's like a poo chess player who is 3 steps ahead but forgets what's his next final move is

Average number of points to be crowned champions: 94 points
Average number of points to reach play-offs: 74 points
Average number of points to avoid relegation: 47 points
At our current rate of 7 points from 7 games we're on course to finish on 46 (excluding any points deductions), just another 38 nil-nils and a sneaky 1-0 somewhere and we'll be fine.

I know Mel, why not hold a meeting that only the select few can attend, then tell them all to keep what's said secret, and keep all the other 99.999999% of fans in the dark.
I suppose someone worth half a billion pounds can do what they want without a care for us mere peasants.
You may have had good intentions when you bought the club, I for one was looking forward to drinking in the East Stand fan park extension and watching the Oasis reunion under a retractable roof.
Now it seems all I've got to look forward is Fleetwood on a Tuesday night.
What the duck is going on? Duck. ?

Bit harsh here pal. I think the OP is just expressing his sentiment and sadness at our current state. I don’t think he has demanded action - but merely expressed his dismay and the need for something to change.
From the outside looking in - most of us surely share this sentiment. Equally, as we are on the outside most of us don’t have sufficient information available to us to begin to know what that right course of action is.
Maybe Mel Is playing the long game and maybe he’ll be proven right and we’ll be ok in the end but right now it’s hurting to see our great club in this horrible horrible place.

Not free - part of a membership. These tickets were offered, agreed and paid for and have been taken away without the courtesy of an email or explanation. I found out by reading a post on here by someone who knows someone in the club. A friend of mine found out last Saturday when he was unable to buy a ticket for his lad for Birmingham on Friday, he simply didn’t know the season ticket had been cancelled because the club has never directly contacted us.
This decision has left parents with no recourse to a refund for their adult season tickets and now having to find extra money which they may or may not be able to afford. If the club had announced their intention to discontinue these ‘free’ tickets with effect from next season then I doubt anyone would be complaining. Hopefully that puts it into some context for you. ?

You don’t think changing the pricing structure, when there were 8000 existing season ticket holders who had paid under the existing one, was a decision that perhaps was best left until the following season in the interests of fairness? Personally I think it would have made a lot more sense
I also don’t think the argument that you should pay more because you got something that the people who paid less also got is a particularly good response or valid argument either.
£75/£100 obviously isn’t a great deal of money to some but it is to others and it can be the difference between going and not going. I think some on here don’t always seem to appreciate that.
Personally I think @DCFC1388and @ck- as well as the countless others, including myself, who have exactly the same issue should be either offered the difference between what they paid and what they would have done if they hadn’t helped the club out by leaving their money in it during the pandemic, or have the Rams Squad season tickets, bought in good faith, honoured.
On a separate note I would like to applaud you both on receiving an email back from the club though ?

my personal experience is that my season ticket auto renewed, but I want to relocate. The reason I want to move seats is I’d like to purchase two additional season tickets for my wife and daughter and have all 3 of us sit together.
I’ve emailed and emailed with no luck.
I was on hold the day the ticket office lines opened for 3 hours to be told I’d have a call back when the manager is in.
I never got that call back and have rang in several times and each time was told I’ll have a call back when the manager is in.
I don’t think it’s harsh to say this is pathetic at all. I’m wanting to spend an additional £700 which would pay one salary for 2 or 3 weeks. Multiply little old me struggling to give the club money by however many other people are in the same boat and they must be losing a fortune. An additional handful of staff would not cost as much as the lost revenue, surely?
in fact, a damn option to move my seat online wouldn’t require any new staff
Pandemic or not, it’s disgusting and like an idiot, I’ll probably spend another tenner on hold tomorrow & get nowhere.

Derby go into administration and out of business.
Meanwhile, we all go and follow Alfreton Town, who with the additional support and income over the next few years speed up through the divisions to the Championship.
Spying an opportunity, a wealthy local lifelong supporter of Alfreton takes them over, and gambles lots of money that he’d made early on investing in an internet game on getting them into the Premier League.
The final throw of the dice after being close to getting promoted was to appoint the newly retired England legend Jude Bellingham as manager who took the Town to the Championship playoffs only to lose to Arsenal at Wembley
In a dire financial position Mel Austin the owner, seeks a buyer…
