yup, I did. And he did better than expected. I’d have still preferred we had signed someone instead, like. Now you’re asking him to do it again at a higher standard? No ta.

Better than expected?! Wow you're tough to please! The guy nearly bagged 20 goals, missed a fair chunk of games as he was really hurting his stride and was instrumental in setting the tone for the never say die attitude that was the single biggest factor in our promotion. But as you were proven right to dismiss him once, no doubt you'll be proven right again.

I was tempted to wager £100 pounds on Bolton getting the automatic promotion slot at the odds of of 100-1, but I've resisted temptation. I'd rather Derby were promoted than have ten thousand pounds in my bank account. That's the heart ruling the head.

Aye but think of the therapy you could afford if you were unlucky enough to win that kind of money...

I've lobbed £30 at it, the odds are extraordinary considering it's only based on two results on the last game of the season when anything can happen as we've seen all too many times before!

Totally agree with this - Ferguson has rested some of his better players and removed the risk of injury, tiredness and suspension in preparation for the playoffs, whereas Evatt is now faced with a game of chicken trying to work out who should be risked and at what point does he take the better players off? The chances of you not winning and us winning by 3 or more is 175 -1 with some bookies so why does he even consider playing his best side against Posh? Other than the argument of coming into the playoffs with a winning mentality? He could regret it if key players are injured again at this stage. It's a dilemma.

We've been there a few years back in the Championship playoffs and played our best player in a nothing fixture, only for him to break his leg or something like that.

If I were Evatt, I would play the U12 team to make sure key players and their back ups' backups were fresh going in to the inevitable play off battle...

P.S. @Day i really miss that ninja assassin emoji we used to have on here years back...

    I’m also worried about Sunday.

No more anxiety. No more obsessing over line ups, tactics, homoerotic song lyrics and flags.

I might have to face real life 😊

Think how much we might actually get done. Country will climb out of recession in no time...

Check out the Bolton forums. Many calls for Evatt to go. They want practical winning football not occasionally brilliant but ultimately failing football.
who would be a football manager !

Hang on a cotton picking second...

Reckon we've hit on the absolute jackpot here. We swap Warne, who is 100% guaranteed to fail in the championship but a pragmatic, turgid, League 1 genius, with dynamic, forward thinking, young Evatt who is 100% guaranteed to succeed at a higher level but seemingly can't get Bolton promoted out of a terrible uncompetitive league.

Wonder if any of our Nostradamus members could confirm if this the answer?

  6. I was there for the last auto season. I was 11 I think and gripped by football fever. That win to seal it against Palace was a truly great moment and one to savour.

If we get over the line on Saturday (and let's hope we do because frankly I don't think any of us could take the epic meltdown from all corners) then I shall be sinking a few beers (one at least for our dearly departed talisman of positivity) and savouring it because these moments don't come around too often.

Come on Rams, bring it home!

  7. My old man is east lower, third row back from the pitch, half way line, right on the aisle. Only one seat though but his mate might be in the seat next to him, I'd have to double check. If you're interested DM me and I'll see if he'd be willing to swap but I imagine you might want two seats so the previous offer may be preferable to you.

I live in Haddenham, just down the road from Aylesbury at it happens.

He does however have 5 goals and 7 assists in the league this season, I’d rather have that potential threat available on the pitch to see us over the line before he does leave than not utilise it.

Agreed and Bird has proved pretty consistently that he is fully focused on the Derby cause until he leaves and I imagine would absolutely love to be part of two big wins to close out his Derby career.

Anyone questioning his commitment to Derby is way off the mark IMO.

  9. The waning rational part of me thinks that the other sides have still got to go some to take second spot by the end of the season, given the fixtures they've got. And even if we fail at the autos there's still the play offs etc. I confess this is getting to be a much smaller part of my feelings about this season!

The much larger part of me is absolutely furious with everyone at the club for failing to take the countless opportunities we've had to put us out of sight. Some of the points we've squandered have been simply inexcusable. My gut says we're destined to throw it away.

  10. I loved that RvdL got that goal, he really deserved it. This season it could be anyone and I think I'd love it equally.

Cashin, Bird or Sibley - would be lovely if one of the home grown lads were to seal the deal.

Plenty of other likeable candidates though, I'd honestly love it if it were any of the lads, they all have a bit of a story and a reason for us to connect with them, even those that haven't delivered as we would have hoped. We have a good bunch of players at the moment. Almost like Warne's stated desire to have good people at the club is a really positive thing.

Wilson would be by curve ball option, he just epitomises the kind of player fans love and you know he would absolutely love it.

  11. Will we struggle next year? With this exact team, yes of course but it's going to be another big off season for recruitment, so I really don't think it's worth even mentioning until we know what league we are in.

    On the game...

Thought it was a really exciting advert for League 1 (I wish all games were that standard) Two teams going for it, albeit with slightly different approaches. The quality on show was impressive considering the conditions and magnitude of the game.

We absolutely held our own, possibly conceded too much possession and territory in the second half but I don't think it was the wrong tactic given the circumstances.

Think the criticism of Wildsmith is unfair, tricky conditions and a couple of decent stops. Also responsible for points in the last few games. We look better with him in the sticks than Vickers for me.

We absolutely have to back it up now with a win against Wycombe, hopefully the walking wounded can get some rest and fitness back in their legs. Huge 4 games.

I have an unusual feeling that we might win tonight?

    Whats wrong with me?

You sir, are suffering from Ramnesia.

A very specific form of memory loss affecting Derby County fans who regularly forget the true meaning of the Derby Way, which is for the club to instill hope and optimism in its supporters despite a long and consistent track record of disappointment.

I jest of course, we're going to win 4-0 and sell Kwaku Oduroh for £11m in the off season...

  13. I have us and Bolton finishing on equal points so goal difference really matters. I can't see us getting any massive wins at this point given the depletion of our strike force. However, with Bolton's tougher fixtures I don't think they'll make the difference if we can equal their tally.

It's going to go to the wire for me but I have us holding on to second on GD.

A win at Pompey changes all of that dramatically though.
