Which shows the problem with statistics!
Anyway there may have been plenty of others clubs support cheering when we just lost Max Bird our central midfielder and on field captain for 6-8 weeks
True but if you lose a good goal keeper it affects the defence more generally in terms of confidence and organisation. Suddenly things start going wrong at set pieces and crosses. Defenders make mistakes. Anyway I thought it was 4 weeks for Max. Thats whats been reported.

I think he was unfairly judged for his finishing. He's a winger not a striker its as simple as that. A good winger already and has all the makings of a very good one

Why not? You aren’t going to get Sibley playing anywhere else
-
I’d like to play Wednesday on the last day to decide who wins the championship, both sides having already been promoted. I think that would be good. Might well happen too!
-
I can imagine a scenario where he plays on the left of a back 3 with Sibley at left wing back
-
Its easier chasing than trying to stay ahead I think. There is less pressure

Many of us went to the Baseball ground loads of times. I'm telling you that was a 30,000 plus crowd easily. Its packed! OK putting up the Ley stand raised the capacity a bit, but in those days there was standing on the lower tiers of both the Normanton and Osmaston ends. Also standing on the paddocks. There was no areas lost for segregation
Great stuff anyway, thanks for finding it and posting it Oldtimeram

Agreed, they gave us a good game at their place helped by our penalty taking skills! On past form there should be goals, hopefully at the right end.
We will crush them. They have had some good results but only against the minnow clubs. When they came up against an equivalent side to ourselves they got tonked. We have improved since we played them. Nobody except the top 3 sides has anything like an even chance at Pride Park

Davies spent most of the match looking like he had had one knee fused together. Giant of a man, collosus of the Club, but not mobile enough to play when Cashin and Forsyth are fit and available. Just my opinion though.
Its not just your opinion. I agree with your team, we haven't signed white to sit him on the bench. Nor are we going to move Smith into midfield even if it is for one match while White settles in. We will stick to the same formula. I think your team is right depending whether Didzy is fit, which he may not be

He's not a Warne type player is he, but he's so much better than Collins ......even now. We really are low on options and he's an intelligent clever player which the wingers and Knight can run off and will also win free kicks etc as he's always done??. Comparing Collins to Martin and saying they are similar does Martin such a disservice, the ball bounced off Collins so much the other night ?. They are at different levels. Its not going to happen though, let's be honest even though I think short term it actually makes sense with our lack of alternative options at the moment.
Martin is much more like Didzy than Collins

Depends how much money he would want but assuming it’s reasonable then why not

Not too pleased we have not got a striker in to replace Osula. Could see a scenario where it could cost us. Imagine going into the play offs, 2nd leg of the semi final or the final and the game goes to extra time one of them are injured leaving the other to have to play the whole 120 minutes.
Mcgoldrick gets cramp after playing 100 minutes and can barely move and we have to play a winger upfront instead, Barkhuizen hasn't got the touch or the strength and I'm not sure NML would be a good lone striker either. We then lack a focal point and lose the match costing us promotion, same could happen last game of the season if top 2 is on.
If Mcgoldrick is out for many games and we just have Collins are chances of going up are definitely slimmer, we'll just have to hope Mcgoldrick can play most matches and we can win without having much upfront. Will be interesting to hear what Warne has to say about things in the striker department.
Nobody was available that was good enough its as simple as that. A lot of people thought a period of consolidation and avoiding another relegation was the aim this season. Now look at us, going to be disappointed if we miss out on automatic and have to settle for the play offs!

Seems to be incredibly highly rated and on the verge of breaking through. Definitely not one for our U21's

I don't understand why some threads that are shown to have absolutely no basis are locked and others, such as this one are not. There has never been any link whatsoever as far as I can see to us being interested in signing Martin

Hopefully there is some actual transfer news in a bit

There is a lot of similarities between Paul Warne and Arthur Cox. I think Paul has a much better set of players to work with than Arthur inherited though. We are already at least the same point as we were in Arthurs second season playing wise. It would be good if we had the equivalent of Davison and Gee though. If Warne can find a goal scorer we will be cooking on gas

I think Hourihane had been lined up while Rooney was still here. Either way he wouldn’t have come unless we had been able to offer him good money. That’s what professional players are interested in
-
Yeah at the end of the day it probably wasn't that we could afford to pay him more than Wednesday were offering, just that we didn't want to. Anyway we don't need another mid 30's has been. I think Davies will get fit and play a part the rest of the season and we have Rooney who is only going to get better with time

Absolutely right BR. I suspect we may have been in for Flint and/or Nelson, but the clubs mentioned that they are going too can currently out gun us with a financial package.
As soon as we show interest in any player coming to the end of their contract their agent will no doubt hawk them around and use our interest to push for better deals elsewhere.
The feeling that the EFL still have us by the short and curly's sticks in the throat but it's what we have to deal with.
I feel we do need to recruit this window with the squad being so small. An injury in a key area and it could quickly derail a promotion challenge, so that's why I disagree in that we'll go with what we have, although I feel sure it will be another loan or two, probably a RB and CF.
Another re-build in the summer, hopefully as a Championship club.
Kind Regards
Gangway D from the terrace
So, how were we able to sign the likes of Hourihane and Mendez Laing in the summer? You’re not telling me we weren’t up against the same clubs for them? Not only clubs in our league but Championship clubs too? I think we can could have signed Flint if we had really wanted to
