I would guess we can anticipate a tribunal figure of between £1.5m and £2m for Jason Knight - which I think is a fair value.

If a team wants him this season then they can make the move early, for an additional fee. I think it’s best for everyone if he is moved on, as he can be replaced. Korey Smith does the same job for us as Knight, if we can we can replace Knight with a player who offers more production and creativity then it puts us in a much better position already. Unlikely, but if you were able to turn the Knight money into Aaron Collins, a player who does produce goals and assists regularly, it would give us a much better threat going forward. As I said, in terms of someone running around and keeping the ball ticking over then Korey Smith can do that.

I agree. I think Knight is over rated

He played upfront in a 2 most of the season. On the rare occasion they played 3421, he was the CF (9)

A 9 leads the line. He doesn't look like that sort of player to me. Anyway, we will see. I think Warne will want a traditional 9, someone who can head it at the back post and so on. He always emphasises the importance of crosses. Alfie May looks like someone who would play off a 9

If we signed him would we keep 3 over 30 year old strikers? Assuming Didzy signs a new deal of course.

Which, when you think about it, almost certainly means we aren't interested. There has been hint of any interest from the Derby end, just the usual stories adding us to the list of clubs that supposedly are. We will surely have our sights on some younger players

  4. IF Cashin is staying, we still need another two central defenders as well as 2 wing backs if we are going 3 at the back . Fozzie only played central last season because we had nobody else, Chester had been pencilled in to play and Curtis wasn't fit either. Rooney isn't quite ready to play week in week out and at the moment we don't have Roberts. I think we will get Roberts but I'm not sure if he will play in the 3 or at wing back

All jokes aside say we sold knight and sibley bought CH and say got another scoring midfielder like Brannagan and a rb we’d be a better side overall

Absolutely and that's the sort of stuff the manager is paid to sort out, wheeling and dealing to get a better balance overall

Has absolutely no pace now, and this is why he ended up getting left out at Luton.

A lot of complaints that whilst playing for them (especially in a 3) he ended up leaving huge gaps.

Horses for courses though, a division lower, proven leader and a bit of height/physicality.

If he reads the game well and has the right players with him then this isn't a problem. Remember Rob Hindmarch? Maybe you don't, lots of people are younger than me these days but I assure you he was a great defender without having any pace at all

He's better than league one standard imo. He'll get a better contract in the championship.

Be amazing if he did sign though 🤞🤞

Other than championship clubs with parachute payments there are NO championship clubs with our level of revenue. He won’t get a better contract. As I said, the clubs with parachute payments either already have much better players than Hayden or can can aim higher than a free transfer. Don’t worry about Championship clubs. As I explained before, the issue of the gulf between Premiership and the championship in terms of revenue is not replicated between Championship and league 1. Even the parachute payment clubs are more often than not having to use those payments to support a wage bill that they had in the prem. they don’t have loads of money to throw around either.

  8. I’d be amazed if he isn’t announced soon. Sure there will be other clubs that fancy him but unless it’s one of the big clubs in the championship chasing promotion I think he will come here. I’m not sure why one of those would think he would improve them. I would think there is already an agreement in place

  9. Johnson started really well with us then seemed to get worse. We had that way about us unfortunately, making players worse not better. Hopefully we are different now. We did the same with Butterfield, he had some ability but just looked miserable here.

Gordon has been injured for nearly 18 months and is still not 100% fit and Kellyman playing u21 football which is where it would be expected at this time in his career. Delap would have been first team if he had stayed looking at level he currently playing but he didn’t want to be here so makes it a bit of hypothetical. Gordon could have stayed too but didn’t want to in the end and I think the club were happy with the sale.

I heard that Kellyman is training with the first team though. Thats a top 6 prem first team

Roos was 21 or 22 when he joined us.

Agree with the rest though. Fundamentally, only having sold Jeff Hendrick for more than £10m it's actually quite disappointing. Obviously, injuries to Hughes probably hurt the prospect of another big sale and then financial issues prevented others, but when you look to the likes of those down the road and the amount of money they got for Oliver Burke et al it does look poor.

Exactly. And when Forest finally sell Brennan Johnson it will be for a humungous figure. We just haven't produced any strikers or wingers to speak of really. Having said that maybe it was just about bear fruit when Morris gave up and pulled the plug. It would have been good to see how Omari Kellyman and Kaide Gordon would have got on eventually here. We have been really robbed with those two. And I do think that Morgan Whittaker is starting to come through now as I suspected he would. Warne would have loved to have the option of Dylan Williams for left wing back I'm sure. And Festy for the right wing back. Shame
