Agree it was a bad idea but let's not forget the likely alternative was Sonny Bradley.  

Bird certainly hasn't had a shocking season in my book, but he plays better when Hourihane isn't getting in his way. I agree that Hourihane shouldn't be playing where he mostly has been though. If he has to play, he should be 10-20 yards behind the Striker, not 10 yards behind the CBs where he usually is, and he should share out the dead-ball kicks because 90% of his are poor. His goal and assist record is good, but that doesn't make up for the huge hole he causes in our midfield by his lack of presence. He's the only player who regularly disappoints me.

Potential Championship players for me: Wildsmith, Nyambe, Wilson, Ward, Nelson, Cashin, Rooney, Adams, Mendez-Laing, Blackett-Taylor, Gayle.

Trying to remember when / if football was a sport where you always got what you think you deserved , never mind by what metric you choose to decide what is deserved and what isn’t ,
Say you win a match one nil with a wonder goal and your keeper makes 3 fantastic saves , why don’t you deserve to win ?
you play a game where you are happy to let the opposition have the ball more but in non threatening areas , you defend well and let them do bugger all with the ball then attack with purpose when you have the ball and score more goals ,,,, you don’t deserve to win?
frankly for me there is also an enjoyment in seeing a team set up so well that they work as a unit and hardly need to tackle with the opposition keep turning back with nowhere to go ,, let’s be honest we admire defenders with that type of positional and game reading skill, it’s a gift every bit as much as a natural finisher ,
football is a game with many differing skills and tactics 🤷🏻‍♂️

Our first game in “the 11-point season” was a 2-2 draw against Pompey.  I remember leaving the ground thinking “that was pretty good, I think we’ll do alright this season”.

Nice that our promising young players can sign contracts again and not leave for nothing

I’d like to add when Collins came on he was so very effective in what he did. Always underrated. He will rise again 

That was a nail biting, glorious, low rent league 1 scrap. I loved it, and after April I never ever want to watch anything like it again.

That’s what I meant, no glaring errors as such but felt like he wasn’t letting the game flow and anything that could be deemed a 50/50 or “coming together” became a foul when it didn’t need to be.

Yes  careful management and who knows there might be another 2 seasons in him even at championship level. But he has to be at CB 
He is the ultimate professional and a fantastic player to stick youngsters next to

How many people, if any, on this forum have said they don’t want promotion?
I suspect the majority would love to see us playing entertaining football AND getting promoted but are prepared to go without the former this season provided we go up. At this stage in the season, I for one am prepared to accept us winning ugly. If we park the bus at Pompey and hold on for a point, that’s OK. If we scrape a win in all of three remaining home games, I can live with that now we’re at the sharp end of the season (although I’d obviously rather we won handsomely and avoided a nerve wrecking final few minutes). 
 
BUT, what surely concerns most of us is the type of football we’re likely to see next season if we go up and if we’ll struggle to survive or not. Despite PW’s record at Championship level, I for one am prepared to defer any opinion until we see what he delivers for us.

I'd rather get promoted with s*** football, don't know why we'd wanna stay playing the likes of Fleetwood again next season when we could go up no matter the playing style. 
Aint got the luxury to be picky and choosy that's for when you're already winning in the Premier league and have a significant budget to buy a squad 
Get out of this league = more money, better fixtures, bigger attraction to be able to sign better players. Plus some achievement to celebrate 
If Paul doesn't work next season then we can part ways, but give him a handshake and thank him for getting us up and move on it's not a big deal
Don't know why some people don't actually want promotion, it's weird but perhaps they enjoy the suffering somewhat and " oh I knew it would happen"
