Which is fair, but you didn't seem to be  commenting on his ability to play a full season, more his goal impact when he did play.
It's one of the biggest ifs football (apparently), but get Morrison settled and he's the best player in the league, goals and assists or not.

That Will Hughes bloke is somewhat neat and tidy but produces very little in terms of goals and assists.
Bet you'd take him on a free though? I'd reckon you'd probably be happy paying £2m-£3m if not more for him if we had the cash?
Morrison's ability/ceiling is probably still higher than Will's.. and that's not knocking Will in any way, shape or form.

I think it was more down to him being only half fit, 34, and in some squads at the time our only recognised centre forward.
I disagree with it tactically, but could understand why it might be being done, it's just that when half fit he was losing a lot of the physical battles he'd previously been winning, his actual heading ability is not the the greatest so playing as a target man didn't really work, and it meant he stopped being of much use outside the box as well.
However that was probably better than asking him to do too much and ending up with nobody to play there at all!
Knight and Sibley are both players who if played centrally are a threat when running with it and playing a 1-2 with a deep lying forward, as we saw when they played with Martin, Shinnie too but he's less likely to be a goal threat.

Show me any player attacking who can recreate their past form, or build up any new form based on 20 minutes here and there played out of position in a team which has a defence-first setup.
Funnily enough the first time (actually only) he was used correctly, in position, in an attacking setup with other people to play off was Brentford away, scored a good goal to get us a point.
After that? Back to the wing!  He did have a good game out of position on the right but that was when we trialled the  Waghorn/Gregory combo so he had 2 CFs to play with, he wasn't just stuck out there on his own with the nearest attacker / midfielder 30 yards away from him
Yes he gives away silly free kicks and gets a few bookings. Does that justify his constant misuse and the nullification of any attacking threat he might bring to a team already utterly desperate for some attacking flair?
The fear of him giving away a free kick that leads to a goal or picking up enough bookings to be suspended for 4, 5 games a season is understandable when results are so tight and can hinge on so little but it works both ways. Use him properly and the benefits should far outweigh the risks.

So we know that they haven't been submitted do we? Could be that we have submitted them but the EFL won't lift restrictions until they've reviewed them and decided they're fit for purpose (and we all know the speed that the EFL work at if they're of a mind to be difficult)....think people need to stop assuming things and wait for some communication from the club or the EFL....

...and what if we've got the proposed new accounts ready (along with our new P&S submissions) and before formally submitting them to Companies House have asked the EFL to give them the once over, confirm that they're happy with them, that they conform to their demands but the EFL are dragging their feet, taking their time over getting back to us?
There'd be no point in us filing the accounts only for the EFL to then come back to us and say they aren't happy with them and launch further action / apply further sanctions against us.
Simply filing the accounts wouldn't be an end to the matter if the EFL aren't sated / appeased.

We are in a complete mess, but for all that Mel and Co (can't be his fault entirely as he employs people to look after the club on his behalf) have done wrong, a large part of the 'blame' is the straight jacket that the EFL rules have put us in. Obviously, these rules apply to everybody and not all clubs have found themselves in problems (although more than the league would like surely?). However, the main problem seems to be that once you are in a mess, the EFL will do everything in their power to stop you getting out of it again.  Barrier after barrier has been put up and, considering what other clubs are allowed to do - the scourge of the parachute payments in particular (something that has far more impact on a 'level playing field' than anything we have done) - it means the league are effectively determining who gets relegated before the season starts. By all means fine us, slap us on the wrist as many times as you like, but its quite obvious that we have gained no particular advantage on the pitch by our profligate spending... so what actual harm have we done? And this has all come as a result of the club seeking to compete with teams who have come down and who can spend without limits (how is this fair exactly?).
poo small clubs will always vote in rules that seek to limit the ability of bigger clubs to spend.  Many clubs in our league have no realistic expectation of promotion. Indeed Championship football is all that most can achieve. So they vote in ridiculous and obviously flawed rules. This doesn't absolve Mel & Co. They should have stuck to the letter of the law rather than trying to be clever and they should've curbed the spending. However, hindsight is wonderful and if we'd gone up then this would all have been moot.
Rightly or wrongly, I'm much more upset with the EFL than Mel. I realise and accept this might not be justified or rational, but whenever did rational thought have anything to do with football?  FWIW I think Mel is quietly still spending a fortune on keeping us going, but if the EFL won't budge then there isn't much he, or new owners can do to improve the situation come 7th August. Nevertheless, a change in ownership would at least provide some light at the end of a long and difficult tunnel.

I'm not even sure Shinnie provides protection tbh, no more than Bryson did, certainly not on the levels of Eustace and Bielik. There's a lot of chasing the opposition and the odd tackle but his defensive discipline and positioning/covering is pretty average so while the tackles look good and leave a lasting impression, how effective really is he the rest of the time?
That combined with how limiting he is to the team in transition (cannot play on the turn and spot supporting runs, let alone play the pass quickly enough) seems to mean we can't play him as a sole DM and someone partnered with him at DM performs below their own standards.
We think we'd miss Shinnie's 'bite' but when Eustace was here he didn't really have any bite, did he?
... and Eustace played the DM role on his own! He wasn't charging around the pitch putting in tackles, he wasn't covering every blade of grass and he wasn't expected to contribute to the team's attacking moves, he was part of a midfield that so often dictated the pace of the game along with with Hendrick, Hughes and Bryson.

What do people expect from Morris and the club? A statement about another sale? After the debacles of the last two? Embarrassing..
An admission that we are screwed this season? We all know that anyway, what difference does the club saying it as well. Morris can’t really win here can he.. The situation is obvious, protests against what? An owner who tried his best but was ultimately out of his depth? I could understand a 3 Amigos scenario where they were crooks but Morris is not that. I really don’t know what anyone gains,, Morris HAS to keep as much as possible in-house at this point, no choice..
All we can do now as a fan base is support whoever is wearing the shirt. There will be mistakes, we will get a few footballing lessons and players playing way above their level but so what, as long as they are trying, they have me behind them.
I am guessing we will go down this season, I could even say, we deserve that. Most of you know I am no Morris fan but nothing is to be gained with not getting behind everyone at DCFC.

Personally, I don't mind managers moaning about the boardroom. Although Billy Davies got it in the neck for doing it in interviews.
Managers do have to say something in these endless round of interviews.
And I much prefer to hear opinions than bland soundbites.
But, I do wonder what effect it has on players.

It's difficult as we've got absolutely no protection in midfield without Shinnie but Shinnie and Bird together are a truly woeful combination tbh. I think we definitely need to maximise the talent we do have- maybe a 4-2-3-1 with Sibley in the hole and Shinnie and Morrison in central midfield. A big problem yesterday even in the first half was that whenever Salford did have the ball in the central midfield we looked unable to easily deal with it.
