May Contain Nuts reacted to CaptainOx in Mark Thomas
Yeah Hanson left us in the summer and doesn't even appear to have ended up anywhere on trial since.
As for Thomas, been with us since July 2014 when brought in as part of Michael Appleton's staff. Very much the right hand man to Craig Dean (head of scouting) to begin with, but when Dean left for Leeds (October 2017), Thomas became the main man for all things recruitment, analysis and scouting. A big part of our links to the Irish leagues and successes with players brought over.
    Successes include:
Rob Atkinson - signed from Eastleigh Jan 2020 Undisclosed fee. Sold July 2021 to Bristol City for circa £2m.
Rob Dickie - signed from Reading Jan 2018 Undisclosed fee. Sold Sept 2020 to QPR for circa £2m.
Tariq Fosu - signed from Charlton July 2020 Undisclosed fee. Sold Jan 2021 to Brentford for 750k (release clause)
Marvin Johnson - signed from Motherwell August 2016 650k. Sold August 2017 to Boro for circa £2.75m.
Ryan Ledson - signed from Everton August 2016 for a compo fee. Sold May 2018 to Preston for circa £1m.
John Lundstram - signed from Everton August 2015 for a compo fee. Sold July 2017 to Sheff Utd for 750k (final year of deal)
Luke McNally - signed from St Pat's Athletic Jan 2021 for circa 60k. Sold July 2022 to Burnley for circa £2.2m.
Joe Rothwell - signed from Man Utd July 2016 for a compo fee. Sold June 2018 to Blackburn for circa 500k (pre-agreed compo fee)
Mark Sykes - signed from Glenavon Jan 2019 for circa 50k. Joined Bristol City July 2022 on a free after running contract down.
Gavin Whyte - signed from Crusaders July 2018 for circa 75k. Sold July 2019 to Cardiff for circa £1.5m.
Loans over his time including Carlton Morris (now at Luton), George Baldock (now at Sheff Utd), Jonjoe Kenny (now at Hertha Berlin), Tyler Roberts (now at Leeds), Toni Martinez (now at Porto)
Also solid signings for the relevant levels - Liam Sercombe, Chris Maguire, Curtis Nelson, Cameron Brannagan.
Naturally there have been some "failures" as well - Hanson and Thorne have to be included, although with the latter, the entire medical department advised against and Karl Robinson overruled (a reoccurring theme in recent times). A couple of Irish/Scottish recruits haven't worked and there have been the failed loans that every club sees.

But all in all, a pretty good hit rate for both improving the team, and younger "project" types to bring in and sell on.
It's noticeable that our recruitment tactic seemingly changed in the summer with older and bigger risk players coming in - Josh Murphy, Yanic Wildschut and now Thomas is looking to move on. Suggests he may have been undermined a bit more recently.

Incredibly unprofessional from a professional footballer.
    The kid hasn't learnt ?
Also, and unrelated, Plymouth is a right dump as well, never forget the day I was sat a traffic lights, looked to my left and saw a 'lady of the night ' doing her business in a hotel doorway. In the city centre. At 1030am..

Maybe we already have a striker lined up so Utd can’t see the point of leaving him here….

Brilliant as that was, I think in a way that's what puts me off watching it!
The players are just 'too' good. 9 darters feel almost common practice where they used to be the holy grail.
I'm a bit desensitised to it.
When it just feels the same 4 or 5 players going at each other time and again, I get bored.
Or maybe it's because I feel like I'm getting worse at darts as the years go on and I'm just jealous.

Cheltenham (A) - 18th in the table, good defensive record (only 25 conceded), piss poor attack (18 in 23). We should win a tight game, but I'll go for another disappointing away draw. 1 point.
Bolton (H) - Hard to call. They're nothing special (as recently seen) and we're at home. Draw likely, win possible. 1-3 points.
Port Vale (A) - An unexpected loss. Has to happen sometime. 0 points.
Plymouth (A) - Depends how they have adapted to losing players by this point. If they adapt well, 0 points, if not we're getting 1.
Morecambe (H) - Oh come on, really? Obvious home win, probably by 4+ goals. 3 points.
Wycombe (A) - We've got to beat a semi-decent team away at some point, it'll be these tossers. 3 points.
Probably the toughest run of games we've had under Warne.
8 points at worst, 11 at best.

"Kicking off" my eye - you've got a strong imagination.
One post with a couple of emojis followed by...
"I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the fans, the players and the staff @argyle. This club is so special to me and some of my best moments of my career happened here. "I am devastated that I could not continue here for the whole season, but I hope the pilgrims go and get promotion, because they deserve it. We will be supporting from afar, up the argyle."
Oh yeah, properly kicking off ??

Agreed. Roberts has been very solid for us.  People saying they'd be happy for us to return him to Brighton feels very short-sighted.
Sibley has done well at left back but hasn't really been tested too much by the likes of Cambridge and Accrington.

So now praising Sibley for his recent performances at LB must, in the eyes of some fans, involve rubbishing Roberts' performances? And the run of strong defensive performances are entirely due to Warne preferring Sibley at LB? Not also in large part due the fact that we've had Fozzy performing out of his skin and Smith settled into RB in place of Knight?
For me, Roberts hasn't done much wrong and, certainly until the last few games, I've had plenty of concerns over Sibley's performances (check the ratings if you care to). Now he's been working with the coaches and has had a good run there he's making the position his own, but the criticism Roberts is getting is baffling to me.

Would think only Barlaser ( if that’s who you mean not Barsaler) is realistic from that list. Can’t see Tom leaving his Dad at Reading but would be good to see @Kokosnusshaving a meltdown.

I still don’t blame him for those. We created enough chances to score three in each.
And I’m not pointing fingers at Warne here, but we have only won one of our last six away games under him.

I guess can still be correct (and in this instance it was), but decisions shouldn't be made off guesswork.
Like I said, none of them spotted it. The 4th official guessed at what happened.

Fourth official 100% saw something and told the ref about it. I was near that side of the pitch and saw her talking to the ref on their mic and gesturing towards Osula. She then went back to the box and Warne was straight on her case. Whether she saw something or not - who knows - but she was the one who brought it up to the ref.

Great xmas results from the lads, Warne has this team working hard on/off the ball. A few teams looking over their shoulders now ?.

There isn't a straight line between decent in the Championship and good in League One though.  Different leagues and different situations suit different players.
People get carried away by someone working hard, running around a lot and snapping into a tackle now and then but it's nearly always better to control the midfield, be pro active rather than reactive.
If the opposition bypass the midfield and go long (as is considered traditional league one fare) what use is Shinnie? He's not physically dominant, positionally astute and won't win any defensive headers. If we want to control the midfield... what's his role? He slows play down too much because it takes him 3-4 touches to turn himself atound from controlling it to playing a forward pass.
I just don't see how he fits in.

    Thanks but no thanks.
Not just a limited player but a limiting player. Offers little in the way of positional protection due to chasing the ball looking for the tackle, which is fantastic when it works and he's winning the battles, everyone loves that (it's enough to get you POTY awards!), but it leaves big gaps for others to cover when he doesn't win it.
There's a time and a place for Sbinnie, but he's very much a bottom half of the league battler and if you want to be a team on the front foot playing toward the top of the league there's not really a place for him, as he's found at Wigan.

Dogshit centre forwards and midfielders who can't put the ball within an 8 foot radius of them?
I love Fozzie and feel very much justified in my opinion that I'd have him every day (even at CB) over Stearman (great pro to have around the place, but you done want him playing many games if you can help it)) but I don't think he could do the role at the level above.

I will say again, we are lucky to have some good players who can occasionally produce a bit of magic but generally the football is so poor.

Flippin heck we made hard work of that!
Lots of endeavour but often brainless football.
Even the goal relied upon NML’s pace to make something of a poorly weighted pass. Then thankfully Collins missed the cross and Dobbin made no mistake.
Collins seems a great team player but as a CF he offers zero threat, taking up positions in which no Derby player could ever find him.
He‘s an athlete which of course Warne loves but we need a goal scorer and McGoldrick can’t do it on his own.
Delighted with the result but very disjointed and reliant on them being crap.
