the warning signs were there all summer for everyone to see, we never replaced mcgoldrick and there is a fat chance we are spreading his goals around the team because nobody else can score either just like last season
 
 

Haven't had a string of foreign  players since Burely and growing up, apart from the 96/97 team, it was my favourite derby team. Rasiak and Idiakez in particular were absolute class 👌
Idiakez was that class, I can even remember the boots he used to wear, White Joma's lol 

Our problem is we are trying to get NML closer to Collins to do the things he can't do, ie getting beyond defenders. We just need a direct striker and a combative tall CDM and it will give us a proper spine because we're lacking genuine prowess in the middle of the park and someone to either play off or stretch the defence, at the moment, even though we're winning, that's where we are coming unstuck imo

We don't need another work horse or slug, we either need mobility and pace or an out and out target man that actually holds up the play, wins headers and someone our 10s can get beyond. So far we have neither, but we have those that are a jack of all trades, master of none.

We don't need another work horse or slug, we either need mobility and pace or an out and out target man that actually holds up the play, wins headers and someone our 10s can get beyond. So far we have neither, but we have those that are a jack of all trades, master of none.
 

Two out of three ain’t bad, but I ay no striker!

It's not about just scoring goals, it's about creating goal scoring chances, whether that's for themselves or others. Collins is great when the ball comes into him 6 yards out, he's not good at dropping deep. It's not to say he's not useful, but he's not an out and out threat imo

Last season a few things struck me which have not been addressed.
Collins last season papered over his flaws by nicking the odd goal here and there, and was often covered by McGoldrick being the main man. Collins inability to take players on, hold the ball up, pick out clinical passes, individual brilliance etc is everything we now lack in the final third since Mcgoldrick left.
 
Somehow, all of the above in regards to Collins abilities have been completely forgotten and we have now made him our main man.. we have signed more back up work horse standard strikers rather than doing the obvious and signing a legitimate goal scorer. Alfie May would of been a perfect addition. Someone who can get goals out of nothing, someone who can play between the lines, and something different to what we have or appear to be signing.
This doesn't mean Collins isn't useful because in the right position, he's a decent finisher, the problem is he's trying to do the job of a player we need but don't have, and unfortunately all those qualities needed to do that role, he doesn't have. 
We desperately need an Alfie May, Nombe, or something similar. More old work horses aren't the answer, we need a bit of class and if we have a good budget for this league.. I'd like to see us use it while we have the chance instead of relying on old freebies and then realising it's not working when it's too late.
Collins isn't the scape goat, but he's definitely not the answer.

Technically it doesn't matter. If we bought them for a substantial fee then I'd be worried but If they're freebies and they get us promoted, it enables us to save and build a healthy budget next year in the championship where we can be a better draw for the better players.
 
And then proceed to rocket up the leagues whilst flipping the V at all those that deserted us when in need

The 1 thing I will take from today, the stream I was watching had the Sheffield utd commentry team on there, and 1 of the things they said at the end of the game is that they will be very surprised if we're not up there for promotion in league 1 as we cut them open and looked a good threat, or words to that effect.
 
They also really rave about Osula and think he's basically the complete striker, just needs the goals, which I have to agree with. His finishing needs fine tuning but he's great to watch at times.
