The thing that really annoys me, is that at the point he took over, we were a pretty solid, well-run club. We'd spent a good 5 years getting our house in order under Clough. Some of the football wasn't the best, but we'd made steady improvements. I was happy to buy into being a bit rubbish for a while because I could see progress was being made, on and off the field. And at the end of it, we'd got a young, hungry squad with a lot of good players in it. The wage bill was relatively sensible for a club our size. McClaren had then come in and kicked things on a bit without really breaking anything, and you could see a real chance of getting up and staying up.
The spending splurge and rash of managerial appointments when Mel took over ruined every single bit of that progress. So not only have we wasted the last 5 years under Mel, we've also wasted all of the progress we made in the previous 5 years as well. Whether we stay up or go down, it feels like we need another 5 years of getting our house in order, and I really don't know if I can be bothered to sit through that again at the moment.

I think our whole short to medium term future as a viable football club may well rest on the 90+ minutes at Pride Park this weekend.

Any comments from all of the people that have decided the guy is a 'chancer' based on completely factually incorrect information in the Daily Mail now?

I’m trying to keep an open mind. The article is a bit rubbish to be fair. “We are told”, “understands”, “it’s suspected”. So much conjecture and no idea if it’s truth or fact. No quotes. The article doesn’t even use the old line “sources close to the club”. No one commented is probably because both parties agreed not to comment on the details of the deal.
The facts that we do know are that the paperwork is done, as per the original press release, and that it’s with the EFL to ratify the deal. If it fails or goes ahead it’s because all parties, including the EFL, think it’s the right thing. Either way, we’ll move on.
Let’s wait and see.

Part of me also thinks, funny how it’s emerged in the run up to a really defining game for us, I mean it’s no like the Daily Fail to print any sensationalised negative press against us ?

I'd like some stability too but I don't believe Rooney is the man to provide it because to put it bluntly, he is not qualified for the job in terms of experience, current performance or actual qualifications. He might well go on to become a very good manager, but why should we be his proving ground where he is allowed to make damaging mistakes before taking a more competent version of himself somewhere more glamorous?
Based on his performance so far he has not done a good job and I think it's riskier to give him the new owners cheque book than it is to find a different manager. If he goes out and buys half a squad then gets himself sacked four months in to the season we are back to square one saying "oh well this isn't our current managers squad, if only we'd got someone decent in sooner and given them the money".

I already had to support Forest on Saturday. Awful.

I cannot believe that we are currently so terrible I have been forced in to a position where I want Luton to win a football match.
'sake.

I sometimes look at that game. Madeley had clearly preconceptions about Martin. It wasn't a penalty though, Martin slips and doesn't even appeal, the goal Hendrick scored should have stood.

In answer to the OP - for me it started at Burnley in 2014 when Martin was sent off for diving when it should have been a pen. If we'd won that game I think we would have gone up automatically with Leicester. No Zamora goal, Mac having a full close season to recruit for the Prem, no game at Zenit, no Thorne injury, ....
However, what followed afterwards wasn't inevitable and it's hard to disagree with many of the posts above. That 13/14 season seems like it was 70 years ago, not 7.

Yeah of course, a Rotherham loss is what we want as the margins are going to be so fine.
I just hope we don’t end up shooting ourselves in the foot if we know at 12:30 on Saturday that a single point will guarantee survival. If we play for a point, I don’t think I’ll be able to watch the last 10 minutes if the scores are still level. I genuinely think that would be more gut-wrenching than any play-off final.

Indy reacted to NottsRammy in Simple equation we beat Wednesday, Rotherham have to win both games
Whats more worrying is morgan whittaker like so many other players who have recently left our club didnt sound to sorry about scoring either . Nothing changes we are wrotten to the core behind the scenes , something is totally wrong at this club .

Indy reacted to DCFC Kicks in What would McClaren do with this team?
Please Mel, it's not too late. Just give Mac the last game of the season. He's been watching every game so he'll already know exactly what to do. Players like Jozwiak would flourish in his system. Mac's shown he can get an instant impact before, he only needed half-time once vs Ipswich. Just any sort of change could give the team a boost. You can't just let us get relegated whilst doing nothing.

Indy reacted to angieram in vs Swansea (A) - Matchday Thread
Yes, it was being suggested that Jozwiak was making wrong decisions despite being well coached. I meant that players right through the team are making poor decisions, are they all doing this despite being coached well?
I think there are lots of inadequacies in the coaching, which are reflected in poor performances on the pitch and I don't subscribe to the idea that the players aren't any good.
Whitaker is just an example of that. Okay, he's a fringe player at Swansea but did you hear Steve Cooper talking about him after the game? No surprise he's making good progress there.
Whereas I see Knight, Sibley, Bird, Buchanan going backwards here. Breaks my heart.

Can’t believe this team cannot battle and fight for our club. We are in the verge of relegation and it seems that they don’t care. For god sake grow some balls and fight for our club.

the only consolation is that the ground will be empty and no photos of crying fans going worldwide after Rooney's Rams are relegated

I don’t know about anyone else on here... this lot have got me to the point where I don’t even like watching football in general. I’ve defo lost the love for the game.
