We sold Saunders for a British record at the time so he’d be worth an absolute fortune now. Mark Wright similar.
I thought Wanchope was destined for the very top in 1997 so thought he’d be worth a killing too. Not the 3.5 million we received!

We’ve already got Osula who isn’t getting minutes. I don’t think we’ll be in for a loan forward as it stands. Clubs would be reluctant to loan out unless they’d get minutes. Collins has been poor recently, Osula deserves a chance.

Well obviously because we were 7th under Rosenior when he was let go. I’m fine with that decision as long as we improve and finish in the top 6 and ultimately get promotion. I don’t think you can suggest it was a blip. We won his last game in charge. He built the squad from scratch. Rosenior was doing ok. I’m fine with the job Warne is doing too. The football is a bit more agricultural but if it results in promotion, I won’t care.

    Good post.
But, I’m relatively happy with the job Warne is doing. I will consider it a failure if we don’t  make the play offs. Rosenior was replaced when we were 7th so the logic suggests top 6 was/is the target.
Having seen the whole league, it’s a very low standard. Top 6 is easily on. If we don’t make it, it’s been a mistake replacing Rosenior. For what it’s worth, I think we’ll make top 6.

A lot of the pressure on Warne imo is coming from people who think that Rosenior was a good manager and should have been persevered with for much longer. After all, this squad (which most on this thread seem to agree is one of the best in this league) was built, as you say, with no transfer fees, no money for agents, etc etc, by Rosenior. Many feel he should therefore have been given more than 9 league games to work with his squad. And if you believe that, then naturally you're going to expect the replacement manager to be a considerable improvement, otherwise why replace Rosenior??
You say: "Let's enjoy what we have, if we make the play-offs great, if we don't we don't". Yes, you're spot on. So why didn't this philosophy apply when Rosenior was in charge too??
You say: "To put into context, who can tell me the last time we had a manager that lasted more than 2 full seasons?? I'm looking forward to judging Warne after 2-3 seasons, not 5 minutes and one restricted transfer window.". Yes, again you're spot on. So why the rush to replace Rosenior?? Why not judge him after 2 full seasons??
On a points per game (ppg) basis, Rosenior had 1.56 ppg after 9 league games with a squad recruited very hastily and under huge restrictions (this would give us 71.76 points over the season), while Warne currently has 1.62 ppg after his first 13 league games (which would be 74.52 points over a full season). So by replacing Rosenior with Warne, we will statistically gain an extra 2.76 points over the course of a season (let's call it one extra win).
Might that one extra win be the difference between promotion/play-offs and not?? Sure, it could be. But does that justify having replaced Rosenior so soon?? People will have their own opinions, but a lot of the pressure and expectation on Warne comes imo from people who think that, since we replaced Rosenior so quickly, his replacement should be providing a bigger improvement than is currently the case with Warne.
After all, we've won 3 of the last 10 league games. Will all the Warne super-fans on here be happy with 3 wins in the next 10 league games too??

We’ve witnessed the greatest World Cup final in living memory and you’re harping on about a technicality in the shoot out. Just take it for what it is and enjoy the game.

That final was outstanding. I’ve never seen a game turn so quickly. Delighted for Messi as that seals his legacy. What a game. Highlighted football at its very best, so many twists, turns and drama’s. Absolutely brilliant game and it has to be said, a great finale for a fantastic World Cup!

Being England manager requires a different skillet to club football. Successful club managers don’t necessarily make good national bosses. Pretty much all of the managers at this World Cup wouldn’t get top jobs in club football now.
Southgate had the advantage of being U21 manager and seeing some of these players through the system. He knows tournament football. The FA had a brain fart when it appointed Bothroyd as that ruined the transition. Carsley could do well.
Glad Southgate stays. It would’ve been a Gerrard, Lampard type if not. I’d be tempted to try and get Gerrard involved in the U21s to see if he ‘has it’.

As someone who prefers to stand wherever possible - I don’t at home because my seat is in the East Stand, but I do wherever I can away - I think your idea is a good one, once you’ve got around the problem of tacitly supporting standing against ground regulations. It is a significant problem though.
However you are wrong to blame Derby for the problem at away grounds. Derby don’t decide the order in which tickets are sold nor the blocks or seats that are open. Each home club do that. The EFL define the minimum number of seats on sale to away fans but if clubs want to increase that allocation they can, or reduce the allocation to the minimum (see our neighbours).
It might be that we, as a club, could try to persuade our opponents to sell their tickets in a different order and/or with subtle messages about who might want to sit where but if the home club refuse to do so - and it won’t be straightforward - then there’s not much Derby can do in practice.

What does “make it” look like?

At 21 years old Sibley has made 67 championship appearances for the club, 18 in league one, 9 in the EFL cup and 6 in the FA Cup…which I make to be 100 first team appearances for the club.
A footballers job is to play a part in games of football, which is a team sport, he has done so 100 times at senior level by the age 21 and a fair few games at youth levels too.

I think there’s been an unrealistic expectation since Sibley’s early appearances that he should be some sort of wonderkid for the club who single handedly carries the team to glory. His career has coincided with a turbulent time in the clubs history, we’re now coming out of that into (hopefully) a period of stability on and off the pitch. He’s playing games week in week out for the first time in ages, currently learning to play in a new position, and his manager thinks he’s doing a good job for the team, a team that with Sibley’s contribution is unbeaten in 8 games in all competitions.
I don’t get the need to try and put the bloke down any more than the need to put unrealistic expectations on him, he’s not the messiah, he’s a footballer playing alright for Derby County, that’ll do for me in this moment. ??‍♂️
