Wildsmith 7 (copy and paste from any previous match: solid, alert, good distribution!)

Smith 7.5 (really good performance; was determined to get a goal while still the right-back!)

Forsyth 7 (steady once again)

Cashin 8 (very good at everything - again - and nearly grabbed a goal too)

Sibley 7 (didn't hit the heights going forwards but again really solid in defence, including one very timely intervention)

Hourihane 6 (he's played worse but not as good as at Bolton)

Knight 6.5 (busy)

Bird 7.5 (grafted and made some strong challenges, in the air and on the deck)

Mendez-Laing 7 (on the whole not so effective - well marked by their LB - but very good cross for the goal)

McGoldrick 6.5 (not so much of the magic this time around but still a handful)

Davies 6 (did he touch the ball?)

Dobbin 7 (lively and a really good header for the goal; pleased for him)

Barkhuizen 6.5 (not much time)

Collins 6.5 (another copy and paste: worked hard, didn't look particularly threatening!)

1Wildsmith   7   Not much to do. A calm presence when required.

12Smith    7  Solid game again.

3Forsyth   7  As per. Last second error nearly spoiled bis average though.

6Cashin   8  Won every header & most challenges. Goal would have capped another MotM performance.

17Sibley   6.5  Got a bit bullied first-half at times, and not at his best, but rallied in 2nd half. Should be #1 dead-ball kicker.

4Hourihane   4.5   A poor performance  - for me, needs to contribute more despite what the stats say.

38Knighy   6.5  Added energy. Love Is All Around for JK right now.

8Bird   6.5  A bit peripheral for most of the game, then Hourihane goes off and he looks 50% better?

11Mendez-Laing  7 Doesn't look 100% fit to me, but still a major threat and clipped a great cross for the goal.

10McGoldrick  6.5  Couldn't get in the game 1st half, but then showed some party tricks later on.

33Davies   5.5  Wasn't really needed and looked rusty when in action.

18Dobbin   7  Lively throughout, great header for a goal he and the team desperately needed.

Barkhuizen  6  Not greatly involved

9Collins  6  Huffed and puffed but nothing quite came off for him.

Wildsmith 8 - Yet another clean sheet and totally unflappable. The best stopper outside the Prem.

Smith - 7 - Starting to look a decent recruit

Forsyth - 7 - Gotta love Fozzy, man's an absolute trooper

Cashin - 8 - Best CB in the division and he's still a nipper

Sibley - 6.5 Quieter than of late

Hourihane - 6.0 - Not sure how we use him to see his best. Immense technical ability but drifts in and out too often.

Knight - 6.5 - Looking a little leggy which is understandable coming back from a fair while out.

Bird - 6.0 So technically gifted but needs to impose himself on games more regularly.

Mendez-Laing - 6.5 - Love Nate but this was not his best game. Might need freshening up. Unplayable at his best.

McGoldrick - 6.5 - See Nate

Davies - 6.0 Not seen the best of him this season, but has always needed a run of games and hasn't had them

Dobbin - 8.5 - Best game to date - just needs to relax in the final 3rd - Silenced @TragicMan yesterday so my automatic pick for MOTM

Barkhuizen - 7.0 - Lively as always - Lad's a real team player which I love.

Collins - 5.5 - Worries me a little. An absolute Trojan and likely horrible to play against, but desperately needs goals. His confidence looks shot right now.

1Wildsmith 7 On to his 3rd Cuban cigar in as many games.

12Smith 7 Comfortable evening & we can see impact of Warne’s coaching as he is adding goal-shooting and attacking intent to his game. Lovely ball to NML to assist the goal.

3Forsyth 8 Fully established seasoned professional. Reads the game well and looks like a thoroughbred centre half. Flawless display.

6Cashin 8 Solid as a safe door. Boundless energy & decisive defending of a high calibre.

17Sibley 7 Rugged & strong. Can he add his attacking ability to his new defensive role a la Steve Buckley?

4Hourihane 7 kept the ball moving but needs to inject tempo when there’s a collective inertia

38Knighy 7.5 Brings added tempo from the bench - which impacts the game but can we afford him not to start?

8Bird 7.5 Metronomic reliability of toil, tackles & simple passes

11Mendez-Laing 8.0 Great chase to keep the ball in & a wonderful cross to Dobbin for the goal

10McGoldrick 7 Added lubrication up front that kept the forward parts moving nicely.

33Davies 6 A 5 minute leg-stretch

18Dobbin 8.0 MOTM Pace & threat out wide ; nicely taken header. Pleased for him.

Barkhuizen 6.5 Brought added energy.

9Collins 6 Does he read the game well enough? There were quite a few tasty morsels to be had last night but always in not quite the right spot. Needs a goal fillip soon.

Legs are collectively tired explaining the slow tempo first half. Cranked it up enough to grind out the 3 points against a competently stubborn opposition. Warne et al will be very satisfied with their first 20 games - they’re building a competent & well-drilled side. Can we find a bit of magic to give us more goals? Maybe more game time for Osula in 2023?
