roboto got a reaction from Dordogne-Ram in Academy thread 23/24
We have produced enough players to launch careers for several professional players, which is the main point of an academy. Not everyone is going to be the next Messi.
The club obviously sees the long term benefit to producing young players, not just for the DCFC first team, but to give youngsters the start in the professional game and chances elsewhere in the football pyramid. Just because we haven't produced many Premier League regulars, doesn't mean there is no value.
It's a tool for the future, so no need to dwell on the past (even though it has produced a team that won PL2 and more than matched up against some top European club academies). I always look forward to the youth team fixtures to see who the next player to break through might be.

roboto reacted to Mucker1884 in James Collins
Before coming over all Chief Inspector Grammar, with yer high and mighty patronising gifs, how about you take the time to actually read the god damn opening post!
They said 20 goals!
TWENTY!
Plural, innit!
Sheesh! 🙄

I wouldn’t say it’s the best badge in football, but it’s in the top one.

I don't get the asymmetric collar and not a huge fan of the weirdly positioned sleeve things. However, given they're red and the collar piping is red, the whole thing would be elevated if it also came with red numbers! You know you want them...

Collins was a proven goalscorer at this level. Would you say that he is worth £250k currently?
Any signing in this league is a gamble. The better players tend to be at teams further up the ladder. Funny how that works
