StarterForTen reacted to NottsRam77 in Summer Rumour Mill
Well actually there was an uplift wasnt there…. Quite an epic one which at one point had us all dreaming of catching the running away with it top 2
but then the toils of having the smallest squad in the league took its toll
funny what people chose to ignore and remember

Wait for the away and third kits. Seen both of them and they are absolutely cracking.

You could cut and paste this thread every season.
Seen the comment a few times about this shirt and others on the ‘general’ forum and that is that it just looks like an off the peg t-shirt. I don’t really know what people expect from a football shirt - particularly with our rather boring colour palette. What are people expecting?
How do you make a white football shirt look different to any other white t-shirt. Even if you go full retro, it’s still a white shirt with a bit of colour on it.
Can some of the critics mock me up a shirt that would meet your exacting expectations ?
I mean, I’m not saying you have to like this shirt. That is subjective. Just genuinely not sure what people want to see in terms of uniqueness.
For what it’s worth, I would prefer it if this shirt had a proper collar. Wouldn’t make it any more unique, bespoke or whatever else is opposite to off-the-peg as there are plenty of white polo shirts out there.

StarterForTen got a reaction from Foreveram in Jason Knight - joined Bristol City
For those keen to hang on and take end of contract compo beware of the Bundesliga bargain hunters.
Knight is well suited for German football and a chance to pick him up on a FIFA compensation fee will not go unnoticed.

….maybe Augsburg to Ingolstadt instead??

Because it's the old way - spend more than you have. Maybe we're taking our time in negotiations to prove that we'll only spend what we want to, what a player is worth. and we don't need to sell to spend within our budget. Our more likely it's proving tough negotiating with players who might go to the division above! 😄

I imagine one for the U21 with potential to possibly break through?

StarterForTen got a reaction from taffyram in 23/24 MINIMUM Expectations
Minimum expectation is to always improve, so one place higher than last season = play off qualification

Are you talking about Curtis or Nelson?
Think about it!

It’s a long way home on a tractor that’s for sure. Do they come with headlights?

A fixture list without Forest on it is disappointing.
I'll miss that trip to Gloucestershire.

StarterForTen reacted to Millenniumram in Paul Warne Pre-Season Interview
This point is a real concern. Our squad was too small last season and he seems to want it to be smaller.
20 players is nowhere near enough depth

StarterForTen got a reaction from sage in The Summer Evolution: Your CURRENT best XI
I know that for some it has been a slow start to the summer but the next couple of months do feel like they may well see big changes in the first team squad. I thought it might be a bit of fun to track the evolution of the first team with our best XIs that can be updated as players come and - sadly - go before the transfer window closes at the start of September.
Feel free to update your teams - and/or formations - as often as you like. Lets just hope that the last ones we offer are better than the first!
And this is YOUR best team - not what you think Warne will pick, or even the line up you think Warne may use. The only criteria is that the player is currently available to be selected for the first game of the 2023/24 season.
So my best team, as at 2pm on Friday June 16th, is a formation of 3-5-1-1 lining up as:
Wildmsith
Forsyth - Bielik - Cashin
Knight - Smith - Hourihane - Bird - Mendez Laing
Sibley
Collins

StarterForTen got a reaction from RoyMac5 in Jason Knight - joined Bristol City
Pure speculation but I could really see Leicester coming in for Knight. They are going to lose their entire midfield and adding knight’s energy (and quality) might suit them.
Perhaps just wishful thinking on my part as - if he is to be sold - having a parachute payment club in the mix could help on the price achieved

StarterForTen reacted to MACKWORTHRAM in David McGoldrick - joined Notts County
I genuinely don't understand why I've just seen "League two is a bigger pull than Warne"
It's not league two. It's Notts County. It's his club. He wants to retire there. Fair play. Could have stayed here for more money. He's literally just said himself that no other club he would have gone for.
Internally they would have known about this for ages. I would imagine that Mcgoldrick has said "Look if Notts go up there's a chance I could go back there and I'd want to"
I wish him nothing but the best. Was unbelievable for us last season and without him we'd have been nowhere.
But that was the season of his life and we cannot be relying on him to do that again. We need 3-4 strikers chipping in with 8-15 goals each. We need wide players chipping in with 5-10.
It's not just about replacing Mcgoldricks goals with an individual it needs to be spread.
Other than Hourihane and NML. Goals from other areas of the team were pitiful.
But fans using this as a stick to beat Warne or the club with are a joke.

Apart from the fact the Club recruited him last summer with an even tighter budget?
