Or could it be that getting higher - workable even - bids from the interested parties is proving impossible?

Simply because the debts are too high and the potential value isn't as high - especially in the current climate - as we would all like to think.

Absolutely. The Administrators have marketed the club to all and sundry but if the hole left to fill is just too big, that is not their fault.

I think they are giving it their very best shot to find a way out that leaves the Club in the best position possible - which in turn will result in the best outcome for creditors - and only when that process is absolutely exhausted will they go to plan B and take what they can. Given that it would appear the Club has sufficient funds to play out the season, they will probably feel they still have time to keep searching. Or perhaps more accurately, arm twisting current interested parties to get above the viability line.

  2. Just read the Rooney Q&A with Steve Nicholson on the DET website and it does look increasingly like that a compromised exit from Administration is on the cards, and by that I mean one that lands us with a second points deduction. From what Rooney has said, it appears the debts to bid valuation ratio is too great to meet the minimum 25% payment threshold.

It makes you wonder then just what the Administrators are holding out for?

Leeds did but they weren't supposed to.  Shagged everyone over far worse than us.  Had a special dispensation granted that's never been given to anyone else and now won't shut up about us getting liquidated.  **** ****.

That's not true. The ultimate holding company remained in administration for many years but the football club assets were sold out to a phoenix almost immediately - it was a pre-pack deal from Ken Bates.

Yep Quantuma have released lots of information, including an article about the change in HMRC rules and titled something along the lines of "Are Football Clubs Worth Saving Anymore"

That's enough to set alarm bells ringing for me.

Oh and if it's of interest:

I attended my first match at the Baseball Ground in 1974.

I looked after the Gas Infrastructure at the Baseball Ground for several years and became good friends with the old groundsman, John Dodsley.

I managed the Gas installation at Pride Park.

As a junior football coach, I  spent 2 years working with the Academy when it was based at Repton School and ran joint coaching sessions with Eric McManus and other Academy Coaches.

I have no desire to see the demise of Derby County.

Just a hunch, but I have a strong sense that your record collection consists of just the one disc? You do seem rather attached to it though.

    Mozza.

I'm still quite new to all of this, having only joined a couple of years ago, and still only a couple of hundred posts in, so please don't 'slam' me, but 3 questions.

    1. Shouldn't there be a match thread up and running before the prediction thread? I know that you don't start the match threads, but wouldn't it make sense?

    2. Why would people seriously try and predict the score of our next match so far before the match in question. In this instance, our next match is 4 days away, and our opponents have another match beforehand. Seems a bit strange to me.

    3. For those wanting to predict the first Rams goal scorer before the team is announced, is there any bonus?

So, Getting in really early on this...

    Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic 0 - Derby County 3

    FRGS: Kevin Hector

Safe as houses on that one. Nowt is likely to change in the next 50 years... Until Derby change their name to AFC Sevco 2022

Performing in the matches that you do play in is what wins you awards, you can't do anything about the matches you don't play in.

Well, I suppose you could avoid getting the petulant red card that caused you not to play in those matches... But I take your point.

  7. Not sure if this is the place to post this but today's financial figures for Cardiff City show just how hard it is for clubs to compete in the Championship without getting into a financial mess.

Cardiff have announced a loss of £11.5m for 2020-21, on top of a similar figure for the previous year. Nothing to breach FFP, but only because they had £80m of parachute payments across those seasons.

In fact, last year, the club's revenue was just over £55m - of which £34m came from a parachute payment.

I heard the sheikh deal is back on when it reaches 1,000. I’m still holding out for Alonso though. He seemed like the real deal... did you see his house?

It will take the thread reaching 10,000 pages to conjure him back

My guess would be Mike Ashley offering 25p in the pound as long as Mel hands over the stadium for a nominal fee, nowhere near the £20 million he wants ?

Nothing to back this up at all, but I've long wondered if Ashley (or any 'bidder') might want Mel to cover the Administrators' fees - perhaps through a 'discount' on buying the stadium?

It's one of those: "they are clearing up your mess; so you pay for it' kind of thoughts.

  10. The EFL required proof of funding for the remainder of the season by March 1st. If no preferred bidder in place (and an underwriting of the  funding required) then that will mean the Admins seeking additional borrowing/external funding from elsewhere. They did seem to indicate that they had irons in the fire on that from, if required.

So tomorrow's 'deadline' may not be too sinister in once sense, but it does kick the can down the road further and - for me - the critical deadline in all of this is May 20th (or something close to that date, not too sure) when contract renewals have to be agreed before players become free agents. That's about 12 weeks away and the club will only be able to sign players if we are out of administration.

It is that clicking time bomb that I worry about.

  11. Anyone know what the lowest price DCFC could be bought for and still remain an EFL club?

I'm assuming that just means paying football creditors in full and covering the cost of the Administration?

I appreciate a points penalty would follow - and the EFL would demand to see proof of future funding under an imposed business plan - but it would be good to appreciate the rock bottom figure.

I would be guessing at around £15m??

Also TBH Newcastle fans expectations are absolutely stellar. They don't understand why they aren't in the Champions League year in, year out.

I read a report a while ago when they were well into the Ashley bashing, and the journo had worked out he would need to spend £1 Billion on players to get into the orbit of Citeh, Man Utd and Liverpool.

Even then - no guarantees of any success at the highest level (look at Everton right now)

This is why I think Derby and Ashley are a good fit; our expectations are more aligned to his business strategy when it comes to club ownership

re your point about the business plan, I think that is an interesting one. As someone said the other day, surely that needs to be allowing for both relegation and survival scenarios but maybe by the time that gets thrashed out it will be much clearer on the pitch, like say when Reading winning 5 on the bounce.. ?

or... like say when DERBY win five on the bounce.

Just saying. Every coin has two sides and all that.
