I would agree with points 1 and 3 but severely question 2. No chance for me. I think it's always been about him and making a fast buck - a quick promotion to the prem and then sell for double the price. His decisions over the last 6 years suggest he has never had the good of the club in mind. Just my opinion.

Just been re-reading this topic and I'm just astonished there are those still willing to either defend the bloke or offer up apologetics for him. All of the 'achievements' come to naught if there isn't a club at the end of it and that's exactly what could happen.  As a best case scenario he's loaded up the club with a mountain of debt that cannot be maintained, pretty much guaranteed our relegation to the third tier for only the third time in our history and has arguably irreparably damaged our reputation in the footballing community.

Mel was a custodian of the club and absolutely nothing more, his job was to ensure the survival, maintenance, and prosperity of the club and in that he's absolutely 100% failed. Instead of acting as a custodian, he increasingly acted like the club was his train set with lavish unsustainable spending and big name appointments. None of us knew the true financial state of the club only he and Mr Pearce did it seems, and an owners job is to know when to put the brakes on and when not to. The last thing an owner should do is gamble the future of an institution on the hope you'll get promotion- it's exactly that type of thinking that Risdale had with Leeds that all but bankrupted them in the end.

I won't even mention the completely disgraceful behaviour by Mel towards the staff and fans keeping us all in the dark during this period and his decision to pull the plug. I somehow doubt he'll end up selling his house or is wandering the street with a tin cup in the near future.

A podcast said it was leaked on twitter/LinkedIn on the day so the club rushed out a statement. First few mins of this. Worth listening to if you haven't done so.

I would say above and beyond those three sadly as he considers himself to be a lifelong fan of the club. This is the point that really stings with me.

    Great idea Sage, lovely gesture.
I live overseas, prior to covid, I was making half a dozen games max either home or away all season.
Another way to do this could be for some of us to chip in and buy some season tickets and designate matches to fans in need that way. Might take a little bit of work/organisation and someone with boots on the ground locally but I would be up for contributing. They could be DCFC Fans season tickets and purchased together. That way if someone would like to go and is by themselves, they will have someone at the match to say hello to and share the experience with. They could even make a contribution, whatever they can afford, to put to even more season tickets. Club then benefits too.
    Just a thought.

Great gesture. My young one doesn’t always come with me so I’d be happy to gift that ticket to someone.

I can’t ever make games on Saturdays due to work. I’d be happy to donate a ticket to someone who can.
Get the ground rocking and show support for the club we all love very much!

We have a few posters who have agreed to gift a ticket or 2 to someone who cannot afford to go. You can PM me if you you want to go but genuinely can't afford to buy a ticket or two. Due to Covid you will need a fan id and an email address. We can get the ticket emailed to you.
Your PM will be dealt with in strictest confidence. We have all had times when we haven't been able to afford to go, we are all Derby and will help each other.

On the KM podcast he (KM) mentions he’s spoken to people who are in the process of selling businesses to Mel Morris!!!
This isn’t can’t pay anymore, this is won’t pay anymore and he’s prepared to put the club at risk because he won’t stand behind HIS gambles.

I’ve reflected more on that interview and in my initial comments i went easy on him. He had the audacity to say this course of action is the best most positive way forward for the club to get a buyer and move forward. It’s unbelievable he said that!!

The more I think about it I realise what a dire position HE has put us in BY CHOICE and the angrier and angrier I feel.

We didn't get any more points because it was the last game of the season, we still got one.

And Rotherham didn't get any less because they conceded with two minutes to go, they still got one too.
It's utterly absurd to say we stayed up because of one piece of luck when there will have been times when bad luck cost us points throughout the season just like it did Rotherham.
We stayed up, Rooney was in charge, ipso facto, Rooney kept us up. Argument over.

Don't get all upset that he's lost or invested circa 200 million - a lot of this was from his terrible, terrible mistakes and having to try to cover these through buying the stadium because he breached ffp. Hes walked away with a stadium that noone will buy if the admins want a quick, cheap sale. It's his now and doesn't sound like he will hand it back. This should be donated to the city or something similar and shouldn't be a bargaining chip in any future deal. His mistakes and his losses, not the clubs. Tragic we've lost the stadium and have racked up so much debt when we were on a strong financial footing before he bought the club.

Yee of little faith! Sibley just needs a goal and then there's nothing stopping him. Baldock was never going to be a 20 goal a season striker. His off the ball running and high energy does open up space behind him for players like Bird to have the time to slot shots into the top corner!

Yes, but only £8m of it could be included in the P&S calculation.
Far better to buy Alvaston Rangers for £50, and then buy Tom Lawrence for £70m (no transfer window in non-league)

I don't think it's as simple as Mel handing the stadium back to us at this point.
For him to do that, after we avoided falling foul of P&S by selling it, we risk the EFL opening that case up again and positing that he has deliberately sold it back to us far under the market value (I.e. £0).
That market value was argued about relentlessly and now legally we know what it's worth.
If we want Pride Park back the price is £80million. Possibly more if the price of the land rises further.
We'll probably never own the ground again until we can get into the Premier League and get away from P&S.
