I found it quite embarrassing watching us trying holding onto a lead in the last 15 minutes against Fleetwood and not being able to keep possession

    No.
Why is our expectation too high?
"Full minutes - SCG Meeting with David Clowes and Stephen Pearce 22.09.22
...Paul Warne brings experience and now is his time for a big job at a big club. Other clubs were after him, both those with and those without a manager currently. David Clowes liked how he treats players, and journalists, encouraging everyone to get the best out of themselves."
We have a budget good enough for promotion from this league and a squad with lots of Warnes chosen players in it. Although (again from those minutes) "With regards to the players we signed and his style, Paul is adaptable, but he was after some of our players in the summer. His teams are running teams and he is happy with the players he has."
So Warne was signed for his experience in League 1 promotion, we are a 'big club' and he has a squad he was/is happy with, that he has added to. He also has a good budget from the Clubs owner.
Why shouldn't our expectation be high?

I agree I think Warne is doing the easy things wrong...he is determined to play 5 at the back despite the players at his disposal...Last year he was forced into playing 4-4-2 and we went on a long winning run...but he still insists on trying the same thing. I am getting worried he is a one trick pony and doesn't have the nous, tactical knowledge or conviction to be in charge of a team like Derby...sad to say I have no confidence he can turn things around.

I have no problem with the fight they put up. I would rather the message be ‘show more composure and stop giving the ball away needlessly’.

How many times did we look like scoring yesterday? I am struggling to recall a clear chance from open play.

In  that case, he really needs to get rid of the rest of our football playing squad, because Hourihane, Mendez-Laing, Bird, Cashin, Thommo, Sibbs have no future under that style of play.

Last year was a nightmare. The almost unthinkable nearly happened - we were so close to losing our beloved football club, founder members of the football league, champions under Clough and Mackay, FA cup winners after the war and European Cup semi-finalists.
David Clowes, a genuine fan with the means to do so, rescued the club at the last minute. He himself says it "was close".
Thanks to him, we have a club, our club.
We must learn the lessons of the past. We must not get into the same precarious mess ever again.
But....we can move on. We must move on. We should now look forward. We do not have to merely be content that the club is still in existence.
It's ok to demand more from the manager, the teams on the pitch (not just the first team but especially them).
We should demand exciting, entertaining football that gets results. It does not mean that we won't forever be grateful to David Clowes for saving the club.
It means we want Derby County to once again be a beacon for good football. Attacking football. Positive football. Entertaining football.
That means passing football, intricate moves, running with the ball, creating chances. It doesn't mean sitting back and hoping to score from a corner or a free kick.
I like Paul Warne, the man. But I don't like his tactics. I don't like his desire to play 3-5-2 with the players he has available, I don't like his use of players out of position or not giving the academy players a chance. I don't like the emphasis on set pieces rather than attacking play.
Yes, at least we still have a club.
But we are Derby County. The football should be, must be, ought to be better 🐏

our manager 4 - I am not sure what message he is trying to get over to the team. Problem is, I don’t think the team do either.

BHA had 23 players out on loan last season alone. Why would they want a ‘development asset’ playing a second season in League 1. He needs to be thoroughly tested to see what his upside potentially is. He will either be loaned to a Championship team, or a team in one of the European leagues (as Mac Allister and Caicedo were). They are looking to turn a ‘£3m’ asset into something > £10m+. Cashin is not going to improve playing next to Nelson, coming up again against Lincoln and Shrewsbury, or being coached by Warne.

We were in control of the game until Warne decided to switch back to 3-5-2. From that point onwards we looked far more disorganised and we’re lucky not to concede more.

It is Warne's building that causes me concern. I want to be entertained and controlling games, not scraping a win and hanging on against teams such as Fleetwood. We do not seem to be building for the future. I don't see anything in this managers actions to make me believe that he is capable of managing a team like Derby, or that he has any sort of coherent strategy.

Forsyth can't play LWB all day every game at his age and Elder is a full back and not a wing back.
Ward and Wilson are injured for 2 months, Rooney and Smith are converted CDMs who haven't got the pace for wing back.
Cashin and Bradley got easily exposed for pce in a 3.
Apart from that I'm sure it will work well.

Back 4 for away games would be Elder Cashin Fozzy Nelson or Fozzy Cashin Nelson Rooney

Of course, against us Wigan scored two to our one. When they played Bolton they scored four goals and Bolton didn’t score any. 🤷🏽
I can’t see the relevance but does that help?

I always thought it might be to do with Barcelona 👍
Tell me Curtains, why we can't beat any decent teams in the league we are in? We have a good squad; we did last season too - although I accept defensive injuries were an issue. Warne has I understand only been able to get us one win against a top ten team in a league game in close to a year. I can't see us getting a win vs Peterboro or Bolton either in the next two games (but will be delighted if we do). He really doesn't appear capable of getting a tune out of the players at his disposal, mainly because he plays them in a system that doesn't suit their abilities. As I said, perhaps the two new signings will be the game changer. Hope so.

Absolutely not, there is no need to. What I take into account is the dross that the manager has us playing. The continual giving the ball away through us lumping it up to the front. Playing people in positions that they are unsuited to etc. etc.
