Should sell him for that amount of money plus a decent % for a sell on fee - if he goes to Brighton, Chelsea will probably end up signing him in two years time for £90m

Somersall Ram reacted to Ambitious in Peterborough vs Bolton
We really need Peterborough to win mid-week to take this game seriously. We saw Oxford turn them over 5-0 and they’ve conceded 56 goals this season so they’ve got a problem keeping the ball out the net, I wouldn’t fancy them keeping the score down if they rest players against Bolton. Bolton really only need to win by three goals as they have the goal scored tiebreaker (should we lose).
It helps the League One play-offs starts the following Friday (3rd placed) so you’d imagine that it will be situational based on their result, our result. If I’m Warne, I’m tempted to play the low block, keep things tight and hit Carlisle on the counter. Starve them of opportunities. Ultimately we only need a point and it makes no odds to Carlisle so we could play it out, slow the game right down. They’ve lost 16 of their last 21 games (2024 record). It’s been a limp finish from them. Give them a way out of getting a draw to end the season, don’t force the issue and give them an opportunity, just play it around and keep them at arms length. If they want to commit players then hit them on the counter, otherwise I would see if they would like a point and an unbeaten finish to the season.

I disagree with you in that unless we stood up to them initially we would have been trampled on. Our front play early on was poor. NML wasn’t on his game, Barkhaizen brushed off the ball too easily, our passing was poor. We wore them down in the end, they tired and we got our goal. Wasn’t a great watch apart from the stupendous effort that was put in.
I think our tactics and formation had them in disarray at the start, their coaches were flying around the technical area with bits of paper trying to work out how they should set up. It was quite funny to watch. Their main coach, a Steve Evans lookalike but 12 stones lighter, never stopped shouting and organising all game. Evans appeared every now and again to vent his spleen to the 4th official who did an excellent job to ignore him. It was as good a watch as the match itself.
But eventually our tactics paid off and we won the game. I think Warne and his coaches are far more astute than they are given credit for. Yes, it could have gone all wrong, but it didn’t on this occasion.

Perhaps Warne anticipated exactly the kind of game that transpired?
Stevenage have been in the top 6-10 for the majority of the season. They have made life difficult for many superior teams across this season.
They are clearly well versed at stifling and limiting better teams. The only team to comfortably beat them so far is Blackpool and they have made Portsmouth, Bolton, Peterborough amongst others all work hard for wins.
You say we have the best players in the league playing like underdogs? That’s your opinion.
In others’ opinion, we have a good group of players and a good manager showing tactical flexibility and finding a way to get results.

Wilson isn't a defender. He's played most of his career as an attacking RWB and is one of our most consistently attacking players. Bird hasn't been playing as a DM for some time and even during the 1st half today he wasn't.
You're on ignore now. I'm fed up of your incessant trolling as, I suspect, are many others.

I think you'll find most of our team is championship level, not league one.
'One of the best away records' which is actually only 2 wins in their last 7 away games. Kind of shows the poor standard of teams we're up against if anything

Somersall Ram reacted to i-Ram in Max Bird - flew the coop to Bristol City, loaned to us to end of season
I think the change he wanted was to play football that better suited his skills. It could have been Bristol, Blackpool, Birmingham or Brentford. One way or another he almost certainly wanted to kick on personally, and sorry everyone but Warne was not making him a better player, in fact he was making him look very average. We have lost our best player in my opinion.

The deal works for all parties. The issue is when was the transfer completed?
I believe it was in the evening and then we asked for the announcement to be held off on the proviso we brought in a striker to soften the blow. If i'm wrong and the monies didn't transfer until past 11 then out of spite i'd have cancelled the deal and let them face a battle for his signature. However i have no evidence but i reckon i'm not far off with my theory.

I dont think we can assume those losses in our latest accounts are going to repeat at the same level every year. Were there not some 'one off' items in there hanging over from administration that impacted the number?

I’m sad about this one.
One of our young lads moving on.
I think we are really not using him properly.
Also, if he’s been told to get it and pass it out wide after one touch so not using any of his real abilities.
Also play and run around next to Hourihane getting overran every game.
Just think he’s undervalued and under appreciated by the manager who wants to play a different way. And many fans who only see goal or assist stats.
Yes we offered him a new contract, but have shown him he won’t be playing the way he wants to play for at least the next 2 years so I’m not surprised he wants to go elsewhere.
A sad day.

Wow, really?!
Thought Bird played well.
'6 or 7 awful performances'? Yeah okay

Again playing in a 2 with someone who can't run versus a 3 man midfield again, who being on fresh legs when we don't, again. Broke up 5 or 6 attacks and barely a misplaced pass. Won more headers than he lost and only a booking worthy challenge stopped him surging through 3 or 4 players to create a 3 on 2.
Apart from that, passenger.

Max Bird gives another masterclass as a passenger. He has one good game followed by 6 or 7 awful performances.

We never seem to get market value for our players - sounds like we're only going to be talking a few hundred thousand whether he goes in the transfer window or the summer. I don't think Bird will ever be a top class player as he doesn't have any standout attributes, but he's definitely proven Championship quality and worth £2-3 million.

You are obviously watching a different match if that’s your analysis of Birds contribution. He was bypassed all day long and made no real effort to at least be difficult to pass. Basically he was a passenger
