    Relationships are strained.
Warne wants his team to run espresso but the squad are not happy, many exhibiting the double teapot.

Warne has installed a new coffee machine at Moor Farm, neglecting to invest in new teapots, mugs, and strainers.
It is well known that Mendez Laing loves green tea. Bird loves Earl Grey tea. Sibley loves chai tea. Hourihane loves oolong tea.
Does this oversight raise concerns about morale amongst tea drinkers in the camp and Warne’s man-management style, and could it be linked to declining performances?

Similarly his love of hats must be isolating players like Sibley who cannot check his hair, hence reducing performance levels

I tend to agree with you. I said after the Lincoln game that I thought Curtis had been brought back into the team too soon. That wasn't Warnes doing, though it is fair to ask if his style has contributed to the injuries. However, when did we last have a squad that didn't have at least 3 or 4 medium to long term injuries? My guess is towards the end of the last century.

No, Chester was a crock beforehand. He was always injured prior to coming here and was injured as soon as he got here. Seem to remember Barkhuizen missing a fair bit of time at Preston too but can't be sure on that one. Davies has missed entire seasons here, and other than one season (last year) has often picked up injuries. McGoldrick is another who's consistently picked up injuries. It's almost as if this was always likely to happen signing the old men we did (yes, I know, not much choice, but still).
I'll also caveat that with saying they're defenders. They're not really doing anymore running now than they did. They're just old and injury prone.
    In short, no.

Exactly this. If Warne fails then maybe we need to find a manager that plays 'good' football but not at snails pace. Ultimately i'm not precious about styles only about winning but it would appear a lot on this forum are bothered about styles and therefore have their knives out already.

Despite loving the possession football under Mac (1&2) I found roseniors (you know, that temporary stand in manager we had) football utterly tedious.
He somehow managed to make passing football look like a boring and goalless pastime when we know it doesn't have to be.
Thanks for your time Liam but I'm glad we moved on (well some of us have).

The problem for Rosenoir was to be effective they had to do it really well and really quickly. As with Cocu before, it's not that they were doing bad or wrong things, it's just they did them so slowly that the other team could close down the passing options leaving only the sideways and back options.
It's like seeing a band playing in a pub trying to do complex Avant Garde jazz and being way to slow and clumsy to make it worth listening to and thinking it'd be better if just got a decent covers band on.
Next time you're there it's band doing absolute hack versions of AC/DC songs and you think "Christ, this is worse than that jazz band the other week"

Wow. A bit OTT ? I wanted LR to be given more time and was bemused by the change. But now that the change has been made we have no choice other than to get behind Warne and the team. He’s only been here 5 mins.

I think his time should be up. I was never a fan of the appointment, I think it was and remains a massive mistake, and the sooner that mistake is rectified, the sooner we can start recovering from it.  He very clearly has no intention of changing anything about his approach, and if this kind of form continues, I don’t see how we will be in any kind of touch with the playoffs to mount a challenge post-January.  If it’s clear we’re not going up this season, I suspect we lose all the good youngsters - why on earth are Knight, Cashin, Bird etc going to stay here when they will get plenty of offers at Championship level or higher.  And you can count on attendances declining if we’re still playing dreadful football in League 1, which is whittling away the big advantage we have over most other clubs in this league.
There are other factors too. If we persist in this style of play, we’re rendering the academy pointless. What’s the point of developing players like Darren Robinson, if they’re never going to fit into the managers style? There’s years of effort gone into developing technical ball-playing footballers that’s entirely wasted. And if you break that path into the first team, you’re damaging the academy in years to come, because having that in place is a key selling point when recruiting youngsters. Again, that’s just trashing another of the big advantages we should have at this level.
It’s not being a whiney baby, the club does not have an unconditional right to my support, it’s a 2-way transaction. If the club is telling me they are actively choosing to play dreadful football, that the club is going to be in a mess for years entirely because of decisions that they have made, then I don’t see why I should bother turning up. If the club is trying to play decent entertaining football, trying to do things right, then I will give them all the time in the world. But under Warne, I just don’t believe that.  I do not believe there is any justification to allowing a man with a track record of getting relegated from the Championship, to trash every facet of the club, in the hope that we might win some games in a couple of years time.

No,it's the length of time required to sort this club out on a long term sustainable basis.
He's comes to a club,on its arse with a mission to get us promoted...a achievement that's on his CV already.
He's started with a rag tag bunch of lightweight players not of his choosing who he's going to have to meld into his long term vision for the club,at least until he can get more in that fit his image.
I'd imagine that this is inline with Mr clowes view of the club too which is why he appointed him in the first place.
Did anyone actually think that this process was going to be achieved overnight or even this season?
We need to calm ourselves down here and take the longer view of where we ultimately want to be as a club.
We will get there, warnes track record emphatically backs that up but we are going to take some pain in the transition.
Have a bit of faith guys and a touch of patience too.

The forum is getting back towards normal.
Mixed quality wrist slashing vibes mixed with occasional delusion is kind 9f what it's always been.
Whenever we have a manager who is focused on technical possession the forum is flooded with crys for strong man hard work tough direct proper football manager and whenever we have a manager who demands hard work and has a more direct approach the forum is flooded with crys of terrible football, awful to watch etc.

To be honest, I think with Rosenior, it was evident that we needed two full backs, a central midfielder and a striker.
With Warne, we need two wing backs, a centre back and a central midfielder.
So what have we learned so far? Neither manager is perfect. Neither system is perfect. We need more players.
Clowes trusted Warne with a four year contract, not Rosenior.
What did he see in his research and in his interviews that made Warne such a compelling appointment and worthy of such a long contract? Was it a mistake?
Is five league games enough time to answer those questions? Honestly, no.
People need to be patient and let the vision become clear.

Regretting the change? Diabolical? Pathetic? Rubbish? Going backwards? Attendances down to 12,000?
The arbiters of style strike again! It really is so dramatic!
Two wins, a draw and two defeats is really not the disaster people suggest it is. It really isn’t given injuries and suspensions are starting to bite. Don’t forget how small the squad is that we have.
It is a case of teething problems under a new manager, not a genuine crisis as many would have you believe.
The way some are carrying on you would think we had lost 5 league games in a row.
Our home form hasn’t been dominant all season. We’ve had good spells but the games have been fairly even, open and teams have been able to frustrate us for large spells.
We needed late goals v Oxford, Peterborough and Wycombe and held off a Barnsley comeback. That earned us 9 extra points over four games where we might have had to settle for 3-4 points otherwise.
Our away form has been poor in terms of results and taking advantage of our better spells. With Warne, there has been some correction there with two wins from three.
No-one is happy to drop 5 points from two winnable home games. No-one is happy to watch a poor standard of football.
But maybe calm is needed? It seems to me results, luck and so on, they are simply levelling out as things do.
Improvement is needed, of course. We can do better. Warne will again learn a lot from tonight. Perhaps we can forgive five games of fact finding if things soon come together?
But the idea that we would have won 4 from 5 under Rosenior and things would have been so much better seems misguided and something I just can’t buy.

    Significantly worse?
In Rosenior’s last five league games, we picked up seven points from 15.
In Warne’s first five league games, we have picked up seven points from 15.
This talk of us going backwards in five league games is purely subjective and purely based on the kind of football you like to see.
Style is something that takes time to implement and there are many ways to play football and different styles can get results.
Perhaps it’s fairer to say that both styles have their flaws and that is what we’re witnessing?
