A lot of changes

Zetterström

Nelson   Phillips   Cashin

Wilson   Goudmijn   Adams   Osborn

Chirewa   Harness

Yates

I quite like the look of that team and bench, for this game after the players gave everything against Norwich on Saturday. Good rotation and a chance for some of the new lads to stake a claim. Come on you Rams!

And need for squad rotation 👍🐏

Didn’t think NML or Kayden were at their best on Saturday, so don’t think there can be much argument about making changes. Maybe Warne is trying to match Sunderland’s youth and energy, while solidifying us at the back?

We can also assume Sunderland were preparing for the match to be against what we've been doing so far this season, so we might get some joy from the changes at least until they figure out what our plan is (assuming we figure out before they do, of course).

Match Facts:

  • Sunderland are unbeaten across their last 12 league games against Derby County (W7 D5), winning the last meeting between these two sides 4-1 in March 2018.
  • Derby County have failed to win any of their last 14 away league games against Sunderland (W8 D6) (sic) since a 2-1 victory in December 1990.
  • Sunderland have won all three of their league games at the Stadium of Light this season; only once in their previous 48 seasons have the Black Cats won their opening four home league matches in a campaign (2021-22 in League One), while they last achieved this in the top two tiers in 1975-76.
  • Derby County have lost all three of their Championship away games so far this season; not since 2007-08 in the Premier League have they lost their first four on the road of a league campaign, while they last did so outside of the top-flight in 1983-84.

I’d imagine Harness might play in a midfield three with Chirewa behind Yates?

Yes as well as giving us attacking options I thought Chirewa and Harness looked good last ten on Saturday I’ll take a couple of goals from them tonight! 🐏👍

Think we may be a bit  exposed down the flanks with their tricky winger who apparently is on fire… Mundle ??

Stadium of light is a great place to go for a first away win btw

Plymouth and Watford have beat them recently albeit both at home with the local derby win against smoggies in between

good time to be going there methinks
