RipRam
Like most people I'm intrigued to know who's on Warnes radar and I don't think we'll know until its signed and sealed. Here's a name that I've not seen mentioned (maybe because it's totally unrealistic).....Carlos Borges. Got to be on PW"s radar after he tore us apart in the Pizza Cup. Speculation that he'll be let out on loan this year to taste senior football. Andrew3000 and SKRam 1

Just wondered why The 2022 summer transfer window ran from June 10th until September 1st. We announced signings as follows; - 2nd July, Tom Barkhuizen, Joe Wildsmith, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and new deals for Cashin and Thompson. - 6th July, Hourihane, Chester and McGoldrick. - 8th July, Stearman and Davies re-signed - 9th July, Haydon Roberts joined on loan - 13th July, Scott Loach and James Collins signed. - 14th July, Kwaku Oduroh signed - 16th July, Korey Smith signed - 27th July, Forsyth re-signed - 3rd August, Dobbin signed on loan - 14th August, Anang joined on loan - 1st September (deadline day), Osula joins on loan. Srg
"Leave it til the last day every year" is such a weird statement. We almost always have the quietest deadline days. Jimbo Ram

I like looking into the facts when someone makes a nice sweeping statement based on opinion or misconceptions. A brief dig back through the news archive on dcfc.co.uk provided some insight so I thought I’d share it. So I guess back to the posters original question as to “why” we leave it until the last day, I think the answer is…. We don’t. May Contain Nuts
With Cardiff changing their manager, I wonder if Warne might consider seeing if they'll let Kion Etete out on loan next season. Derby born striker who they signed from Spurs last season, somewhere between 6'3" & 6'5" tall depending on the source Didn't really score many last season (3 goals and 1 assist in 1219 minutes) but hey, he won 51% of his aerial duels last season and that now seems to the only thing that matters when thinking of who we can sign up top! Like the suggestion of a young, tall striker to add to the squad….what’s the evidence for your final statement? Where and when did Warne say the only thing that matters for a striker is winning aerial duels?

Where and when did Warne say the only thing that matters for a striker is winning aerial duels? It was a slightly facetious, tongue-in-cheek comment based on forum posts and an overuse (IMO) of the phrase 'Warne type striker' recently. It just seems to be a trend at the minute - dismissing potential signings as if there couldn't possibly be a role for them in our attack if they're poor in the air, no matter what other aspects of their play are strong and could complement the team in other ways. It doesn't exactly show much confidence in the idea that we'll be (carrying on) 'mixing it up' this coming season. My comment was nothing to do with anything Warne's said, or that's come out of the club (which is very, very little) so no need for alarm! May Contain Nuts
We can all agree that "scattergun signings" and bringing in people who "don't fit the system" is a bad idea, but there's more than one way to skin a cat and we will need a variety of different attacking options, otherwise we'll fall straight back into the excuse of "we had nothing different on the bench to change things up" that plagued us last season in games we fell behind. Almost as if it’s all down to circumstance and takes however long it takes. We negotiated with players and agreed the deals with them in whatever time it took, not quickly, not too slowly, it simply happened when it happened. Much the same as this summer’s transfers will. The main takeaway from that list is that we should be patient and wait for the business to happen, the people employed by the club will know what they can spend, who they want to spend it on, and when they can expect to conclude those negotiations and either announce a signing or move onto the next target. I am losing faith with the extremes which certain fans are making statements that aren’t exactly supported by fact. We will make signings, when they’re done we’ll know about them, until that point everyone just needs to wait it out and not panic.
