I nearly had a fight once with a bloke from Chester who insisted on calling your disputed bakery item a 'batch'.

This is exactly the kind of controversy the loony left were worried about ?

I assume he is referring to the Capitol Hill riot - in which case the policeman was in fact not murdered.

You see, that's what I thought too, but then I thought, surely Gboro wouldn't make such a bold claim without doing even a perfunctory check of the facts first.

They certainly were. The farmers are now unhappy as the government are allowing tariff free access for Australian lamb to the UK as part of a trade agreement that they hope will increase UK exports of trucks and machinery to Australia.

This is the sectoral balancing act of free trade agreements which is the new reality. Anyone whose sector looks to lose out will inevitably say that wasn't what brexit promised.

I know he was smashed in the face with a fire extinguisher, wasn't aware he'd been sprayed in the face with mace which could be the cause of death. By all means keep on waiting for a natural causes verdict, but I think the cause of death will be the right wing mob.

He wasn't though, that story was later retracted;

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-56810371

'Speculation over Officer Sicknick's death was the source of widespread disinformation after the New York Times reported erroneously that protesters had bludgeoned him with a fire extinguisher - a claim the newspaper later retracted.'

Furthermore, the verdict has already been delivered;

https://www.politifact.com/article/2021/apr/20/update-capitol-police-officer-sicknick-died-natura/

'A full autopsy found that officer Brian Sicknick suffered two strokes after the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol, with no sign that any injury or reaction to chemical irritants played a role.

Media coverage in the days after his death was of mixed accuracy.'

You "know" that do you? Do you also "know" that the news outlet that made that claim later retracted it?

Perhaps you should consider adding some additional sources to your news aggregation? I hear GB news is good.

Or they listened to a fat bloke with white hair promising to bring them all their hearts desired if they were were good little boys and girls.....

... (and in the case of the girls remember to hang up their stockings at the end of the bed to invite him in.... ? )

Left and right both accuse the BBC of bias.

Who's right?

Or could it be that neither are satisfied until their definition of 'bias' is met - which in my mind, is presenting the news in their favour.

Pretty much this.

I've always suggested that because both sides ('teams', 'factions', 'tribes' - call them what you will) reckon the BBC covers or slants stories from the other mob's perspective, they must be doing something right.

I would take that a little further - if you cannot buy into that argument and you think that even supposed 'centrist' opinions are too far left or right for your sensibilities, then you most likely inhabit an extreme position within your team, faction or tribe - ergo, you are an extremist.

A lot of it is in the eye of the beholder...

If a remainer saw Farage every week on a Question Time or whatever you would think its biased by giving him a platform every week (ignoring the fact he would be sat with 3 remainers) whereas a Brexiteer would think he was outnumbered 3-1.

There have been studies done that show left wing bias;

https://iea.org.uk/media/iea-analysis-shows-systemic-bias-against-leave-supporters-on-flagship-bbc-political-programmes/

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1371675/BBC-bias-BBC-news-left-wing-latest-study-comedy

Likewise they have been accused of Tory bias;

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2019/dec/05/the-bbc-cannot-dodge-accusations-of-tory-bias

There are probably a many, many more that show other biases.  My personal opinion is that it probably leans left and frequently doesn't tell you the whole story.  No doubt others will think differently.

I'm sorry if I don't have all the full facts about what happened during the violent insurrection at Capitol Hill. Can we agree he was killed? Can we agree that the invasion was led by the right, and caused deaths? That some came armed and ready to do some pretty unpleasant things?

I think my point still stands that it's not a disease limited to the left. They have a problem with it but it's not just the left.

Why pass it off as fact?

No he wasn't. Fact.

No one has argued otherwise.

Agree mate, @WhiteHorseRam should have knocked the bloke from Chester out.

Enjoy your chip cob I say.....?

Yeah, but I can't be unpleasant everywhere at once.

He ticked a lot of boxes that annoy me -

Dressed in lycra from head to toe to go out on his push bike

Fake laugh ("ger-he, ger-he, ger-he ...")

Haircut of a teenager (he's 40-odd)

Seemed a bit too interested in Mrs WHR

What a Batchend.
