I honestly can't see it being applied - especially with respect to the fact that the majority of pub staff are relatively young, and won't have had even a first dose administered before August or so. Are all pub staff going to have regular Covid tests every couple of days to determine whether they can work? If one tests positive, then presumably everyone who has been in contact with them would then be subject to Track & Trace and 10 days isolation etc and the pub would then have to close again.

It's another (at the moment) badly thought out idea.

August? It was only a week or so ago there was talk of getting all adults vaccinated at least once by June.

I don't think the estimated date by which all adults could be expected to receive their first shot has ever been before 31 July.

So the young should be forced to have frequent tests to live our normal life?

Absolutely not, I’d rather have none of it the testing or the social distancing bs. Just thought the 1st option was the better of the two. Anyway come June 21st hopefully it all become distant memory and we’d not have to have any regulations and life will revert to normal again, there seems no reason it won’t.

Well your normal life at the moment isn't going to a pub ?‍♂️

Now isn’t normal life and that must not be forgotten.

That's my point, it could become normal though if we don't have some short term measures in place.

I'm hoping that staying at home - or at least wearing a mask - if you are in any way unwell (think head colds, bad coughs, winter snuffles etc) becomes the 'new normal'.

No, but that's the same for everyone. Since the young aren't able to have been vaccinated it would be pretty discriminatory to force them to take extra steps every time they go anywhere wouldn't it?

A couple of weeks ago , I was quite optimistic (unusual for me) about the next few weeks and months. The vaccine roll out. Cases falling. So called lockdown easing etc. Plus the more Normal looking forward to spring and summer anyway.

No I'm not. I think cases will increase. They already are around where I live. Vaccine issues with production , distribution etc. I can only see all those dates of easing restrictions, getting pushed further back . In some cases, much further back.

Last night i paid a hefty deposit on a holiday in august. I am hoping that the second jab goes according to plan before then and that science has indeed provided the solution we need.

I had the jab at the weekend. Didn’t feel a thing. No side effects. I’m beginning wonder if she shot wide.

I really hope not, and actually I don’t see it. 27M already with a least 1 vaccination against a virus with a ~98/99% survival rate. And those most effected should have both vaccines come June, then there should be absolutely no reason to open up fully.

Not really, once they are vaccinated, which will be very soon, then they will also get the "free to socialise pass". The alternative being that we keep restrictions/ lockdowns until the whole country is done.

Unlikely, the case numbers would have to jump quite a lot, hospital numbers are falling including ICU which is one of the main benchmarks in our roadmap.

As it stands, their could be a strong argument that we are still being over cautious in our dates.

Except, it won't be soon will it? I won't be getting offered a vaccine until at earliest June, should I sit inside with my minimal risk whilst others are allowed to go outside, even though the only reason I'm doing any of this is for their benefit? Total poo.

The Memsahib made the same point to me regarding her lack of reaction/problems with respect to the vaccine, whereas I was somewhere between 'meh' and 'proper poorly'. It's basically not a hard and fast rule that a vaccine precipitates a reaction that you can feel - but your body has been stimulated (oo-er) into ramping up your protection.

It's also not just you, is it ? If they bring in any passport, which they won't, but if they did, this is still only a few that have the required 2 shots along with the required timeframe for them to be fully covered.

Another story that has been twisted for me, going from if pubs wanted to do it, to being mandatory and the government have got it in for the young and they will have to sit inside whilst the oldies party like it's 1999 ?

It's a valid reason why vaccine passports would never work, because of the fact that the oldies wouldn't go out, and the young wouldn't be allowed.

In the news today I see they are talking about a booster in October to deal with variants. Good that they can tweak the vaccine so quickly, and seems to indicate that it's going to end up an annual jab like the flu jab

We'll end up a nation of pin cushions at this rate
